A good collection, Thunder Dragon 2 and Vasara 1&2 are also great. My personal favourites are probably the first shooters i played which got me hooked on the genre. In the arcade i loved Starforce and Terra Cresta, not the best by any stretch but they have a place in my shoot em up heart.

Dang, they should port alot of these!!! I play them in Retroarch through Launchbox on my PC, MAME on PS3, Pi3, Xbox 360 and FB Alpha has a great arcade emulator on Switch. I do enjoy when they proper port them over though. The CAVE series on 360 is def the best but tons in here I've never seen like that Esp Rade and Dragon Saber. Great vid man! I dont like mobile gaming but after playing tons of shmups its hard to ignore all the shmups on mobile. I'm putting a compilation together atm.

I remember those games which I played in my childhood but there is still one that I'm so freaking want to remember and play it again I forgot the name of it and I'm just disappointed that it's not on the list. If I recall it I think it's like strikers but the bosses is big af and before you fight the boss you have to destroy the parts of the boss cuz its big af and kinda like giga wings which has a percentage of boss percentage destroyed. Anyway, Pls make another vid like this and hopefully you found the game I was looking for. ty

I can't remember the name of this arcade game where in attract mode a jet rises from the bottom of the sea and does a lift off into the sky upon exiting the water. (it was from round the late 90's early 00's when i saw it)

Im looking for this one specific shoot em up where it takes place in space and has 2 player. 1 Red Rocket Ship and the other Blue, the Red carried a Bomb with a huge explosion that covers 1/4 area of the screen and the Blue carried multiple Missile bombs that lights up the whole screen blowing off like Fireworks. Also one of its power ups was a Purple Lightning blast that stays locked on its target as long as you hold fire. It was a game I played in a laundromat but never actually finished.

There was a vertical shooter game, where you played as a spaceship. You had to defeat enemy's or survive til you got to the boss of the stage. You had a health bar and a energy bar (for basic attacks) You could replenish those by collecting a item from destroyed ships. At the end of a stage you could buy different base Attack weapons and special attacks like nukes etc. Sadly Ive completely forgotten how the game is called. I stil remember that the game used gangster paradise instrumental as its main theme song when you would play the game. Does anybody remember the name of the game that I described?

Good point. I also noticed that the Raiden ship has moving thrusters so that it can do a vertical takeoff, which some jets are capable of today. SU 37 I believe is one.

Nice collection! But here's the thing, I'm looking for this vertical shooter game that is not on this list. I hope someone can help me find it. I played it on arcades during my childhood days. You can select a player/plane "Korea" but it bombs like Hien on Aero Fighters (Sonic Wings) the one that shoots like Shinku Hadouken and it kinda slows down while the bomb is active. And I think it shoots normal shots with lasers like F22-Raptor seen on Strikers 1945-3. That game only has 4 selectable characters if I'm not mistaken, and they are all countries. My description might not be accurate but I hope someone will recognize that game. Cheers.

aero fighters special is an arcade game, so you'll need to use MAME to play it. The mame machine name is AEROFGTS.

I remember playing a demo of an awesome game of this genre from my childhood, does anyone have any idea what it was? It was on PC on either 95 or 98. I'm pretty sure you are a sci-fi style ship that shoots both ground and air targets. You can upgrade your weapon by picking up another or swap it out for a new one, I remember one of them being a bubble type that covered a large area. Anyone know the name? I'd hugely appreciate it. Las fases son los nombres del Sistema Solar y el jefe final de la primera fase es un gran ojo (que aparece en la parte superior de la pantalla), el cual se cubre con dos garras que le salen de los laterales. Let´s hope someone can help me out here, I played it in the 90s, very much alike Space invaders 95 in 37:18, almost the same style in graphics but in this game you got some "powers", one was that you shoot a spiderweb, wich slows or stop enemies, and, I cant remember very well, but something like a clown head... but it´s almost the same type as galaga and space invaders. Espero que alguien me pueda ayudar, un juego que jugué en los 90s, en arcade, muy parecido al Space invaders 95 que sale en 37:18, casi el mismo tipo de animación, bastante colorido, pero en este juego tenías ciertos poderes, uno de ellos era disparar una telaraña a la pantalla que no recuerdo bien si ralentizabas a los enemigos o los detenías en su lugar, y un poder que lanzabas como una cabeza de payaso que no recuerdo bien que hacía, es del mismo tipo que Galaga y Space invaders.

Hey! I am looking for a vertical shooter that I played in The Tivoli gardens,here in Denmark in the very early 1990's and I simply can't find it and I have been searching the web,youtube and god knows where for it for years.Sadly I do not remember its name but it put the player in control of a ww2 kind of plane and it started with some animations of an evil general or something like that and he was seen sending evil planes and stuff against you and in the middle of the stages he would appear in a window on the screen laughing really evil before sending a kind of middle stage miniboss against you,I think the first miniboss was a huge war plane of some sorts.One of the first real real bosses of the game was a big statue of some kind of war-god that would come to life and trying to hit you with its hands(and NO it is not forgotten worlds I am thinking about).But the Laughing general guy and that statue god boss is what I remember best about the game.It is possible that you could choose between several different plane types in the start of the game,but I am not sure.If anyone knows what this game might have been and the name of it,I would become very very happy.I do remember that the graphics was quite impressive for the time and there was quite a lot of sampled speech including the evil generals laugh.
