And then Hip Hop and Rap came along, and these beautiful, romantic songs were put on the shelf and marked “old school” or “outdated”. Not in my home. We still appreciate the old songs that appreciate women, not insult them.

I met her when I was 16. I went into the service. We saw each other over the years for a while. It’s been 23 years since I have seen her. I still dream once and a while of holding her hand or seeing her in a wedding dress. This is my favorite song and it is her to me. Can not listen with out tears flowing down my face. This is what Soul music is about. I am 66+ now and still feel a love for her as strong as ever. I always will as long as I have this song.

The doo wop of the 50's lead to the soul of the 60's and 70's. Some of the greatest music ever made. It just doesn't get any better.

This music has its roots in doo-wop. but the lyrics have deeper meaning than 50"s era music, IMO.

Nah, I know that N.Y., and other big cities like in L.A. they always gets the first of first hits, I was in L.A. when this song came out at the end of 1969. Even though it says 1970 thats when it reached to Hawaii then.

From house parties to bell bottoms, big loop earrings, afros braids with beads, friends in the front yard,on the front porch,in the living room, and people and plenty of food in the kitchen, 🎵 blasting from the large 🔊 speakers,, and plenty of slow dancing,no time for shyness now,we just getting started and it's going to be some slow dragging, with lots of conversation, and, nothing but good clean fun, this memories are, dedicated to all the people I had the pleasure of knowing, now back to the memories

I found love on a two way street And lost it on a lonely highway Love on a two way street And lost it on a lonely highway True love, Will never die So I've been told But now I must cry It is finally goodbye I know With music softly playing, Her lips were gently saying "I love you" She held me in desperation I thought it was a revelation And then she walked out How could I be so blind To give up love the very first time To be fooled is a hurting pain To be loved and fooled is a crying shame While I bear the blame As she laughs my name With music softly playing Her lips were gently saying "Honey, I love you." She held me in desperation I thought it was a revelation And then she walked out I found love on a two way street And lost it on a lonely highway Love on a two way street And lost it on a lonely highway Bye, bye baby, bye, bye Lost it on a lonely highway

These new artist or songs will never have a chance in lyrical or meaning in touching the inner feelings of life without their interpretation of what they need to sing about to get recognition to become famous and sell their souls in the process for fame.

I am still listening to this song, October 4, 2020. I was in the 9th grade in 1970 at Whitted Junior High School in Durham, North Carolina when this song came out. That was 50 years ago and so much has happened in my life good and bad. I miss this music and old friendships from back in the day in school.
