Remer was a somewhat notorious figure that was Major General during WW2 that avoided the purges and constantly managed to straddle to line of Germany's laws against certain political ideas and statements. He lived all the way to 1997, was in exile for awhile while allegedly being involved in arms deals with terrorist groups, published many articles denying certain historic events, and in his final years fled to Spain to avoid a 22 month prison sentence in his 80s after all that.

The Holy Roman Empire had split from the Church, was a primarily German state, and was more a confederation of German princely states whereby Elector Princes elected an Emperor than it was a true "Empire". It was none of the things its named implied, least of all by the time Voltaire said those words.

The dude went on a whole conspiracy rant on how the germans could not be trused and how it was in there blood to start world wars. It was to terrible and funny how serious the dude was. There were a lot of people like that. one of the many was a person known as Kalergi. who wanted to cause mass famine, de industrialization, and population transprtations to capitulated Germany. His plan was so insane, that even a small scale implementation made allied soldiers disgusted with their governments, and led eventually into Marshall Plan instead, as western leaders figured that by being so brutal to germans they would see previous government as justified, and more than likely cause mass communist revolutions all across central europe.

It is hard to explain why such a supposedly influential figure has left no trace or paper trail in any of Hess', Rosenberg's, Himmler's, the Ahnenerbe or the Thule-Gesellschafts proceedings. Featured in "Valkyrie" (the movie about the botched Hitler assassination in 1944) as one of the hardcore loyalists who basically crushed the coup attempt before it even got underway. Died in Spain in 1997 after a highly active career as a 4th Reich lobbyist. He's in the game because he was a leader of the NSDAP-revivalist SRP party, which is the party that seizes power during the in-game coup and abolishes general elections (IRL it was banned in 1952).

23 May 1949 was the day the Grundgesetz, our federal constitution, was published in the Bundesgesetzblatt (the federal gazette). It is the founding day of the Federal Republic of Germany. The first federal elections were on 14 August 1949, Adenauer himself elected as Chancellor by Parliament on 15 September, just three days after Theodor Heuss was elected President and the federal republic's first head of state. The DDR (aka East Germany) was formed on 7 October 1949, with Wilhelm Pieck as its first (and only) President and Otto Grotewohl as Premier. However, while Grotewohl was the official head of government, it was the boss of the Central Committee of the SED, Walter Ulbricht, who ruled with the sanction of his Soviet overlords (Stalin, Malenkov, Khrushchev, Brezhnev) until he was deposed in 1971 (with Brezhnev's blessing) because of a dispute over economic policy. That was when the 18 years of Erich Honecker as the boss of the DDR started. Also: After the death of Wilhelm Pieck, the head of state became officially a council of state (Staatsrat der DDR), with Walter Ulbricht having the title of Staatsratsvorsitzender (Chairman of the Council of State) until his death. The Premier became known as head of the minister council (Vorsitzender des Ministerrats) but was just as irrelevant as before when it was a Premier/Ministerpräsident.
