I'm floored by this and the numbers. We have under 20K to live off, and we are saving money in the bank - and we are not suffering in our everyday life. With an income of 200K, we would consider ourselves to be rolling in money, so why can't they manage? And why on earth are they living in a house worth 800K? A modestly sized house would be enough.
@getinthespace77158 ай бұрын
@@robr268, if they are spending $4k a month on their house and probably another $1500-2k/month on cars. Plus a home equity line of credit, plus who knows what sort of other insane expenses. They don't seem to be "in control" of their spending. I'm in a situation where we have been funding my wife's nurse practitioner degree and are in the process of moving out of state. I'm renting a house in one place and a townhouse in another on $150k income. While paying for all this nursing school debt we took on over the last 6 months and everything else in our life. Once my wife starts working this month we will have a combined income over $300k and our living expenses will drop to $1500/month. We'll wipe out all our debt in the first 6 months and we'll be able to bank money fast. We started out 15 years ago on my single income of $36k a year. We understand the value of money and hard work. I would never sign myself up for an $800k mortgage. It's not worth it. I spend over $1500/month on Housing and it feels stupid.
@getinthespace77158 ай бұрын
@@ingridburling8731, it sounds like complete lunacy. When my wife and I started out 15 years ago we were living on my $36k a year gross income. My high-school janitor and his wife who worked at the grocery store bakery retired multi-millionaires when I was in high school. He gave me great advice when I was a kid. I took it to heart. Avoid debt and invest like crazy. Some people don't get it. My wife just graduated with her Nurse Practitioner degree. Our income is skyrocketing this year. Heck even prayer warriors. So it is not weird, you just do not understand. Even seen a soldier behind a computer 24/7? Digitial. I'm so freaking fed up seeing all my neighbors have 2- 3, $40k vehicles each sitting in our low income housing parking lot. We have 2 paid off used cars and haven't had a car payment in 6 years!! I can't even fathom how these ppl are making it. We also live in hawaii which is totally overpriced now more than ever. I'm assuming everyone's parents are paying for their adult children ls lifestyles.

If there is any evidence from every video I have watched, its that they need to teach finance in school before you take chemistry or political science

Most schools do teach about finances but the students, just like most adults, do not see the point and push it down the road.

@@matthewwaters9742No they teach about “smart” use of credit cards, how to take out student loans, etc. They don’t teach about behavioral finance because they don’t understand it themselves. You can’t teach what you don’t know. Love you, Dave Ramsey! Your teachings have transformed our lives.

If more parents did not spoil their kids and told them when they were spoiled, maybe we could have less spoiled people, but I guess some parents only care about spoiling their kids because they were not. It sounds nice in short term, but long term it just messes them up when older.
