Right! He could make some headway but selling his own truck and buying one with cash. That truck could also pull his trailer when it’s used. Matter of fact, just sell the trailer too! I definitely understand vacationing with all those kids and being a military family myself. They could use their timeshare and just have short stays in Myrtle Beach which isn’t far from Raleigh, NC. Once he shows his wife he is serious about getting out of debt, she may also get serious. Smh The crazy thing is they have good income.

I have the same issue, though not as severely, as this case. My husband and I have significant debt. He once told me, "I don't care if I die and it's never paid off," which I found shocking. I do care if it's paid off, and the sooner the better. We're still together, but I'm taking more action to pay things off at a faster rate. In the future, I'll also not be going into more debt on his behalf. When he said that to me, it was a very sobering moment.

I listened to this call on the radio when it originally aired and I started screaming at my radio when the caller mentioned he had a camper. This family has vacation-itis and dysfunctional written all over it. Unless they cut out the vacations, and sell the camper and the expensive vehicles, no way are they going to make it. He blames his wife, I personally think its a combination of the two.

Rent a camper and a truck when you actually want to use it. Buy what you need for 90% of the time. Rent for the 10% of the time. The real issue is that both their eyes are bigger than their paychecks.

It's very common in the military. It's very much like "keeping up with the jones" mentality. You go to work every day and you got these young soldiers that have no family, live in the barracks (no rent or mortgage), and go to the dinning hall for all their meals having these really nice cars, yes they are taking out loans for them but they have no bills whatsoever. The higher up in rank you go the more you feel like you should be living a higher lifestyle which is what I saw from the senior NCOs all the time. I'd go over their houses and they have this massive house with three newer cars, a big truck, and then a boat or RV. They think because they can make the payments they can afford it, which is a mindset we all fall into. This guy just hasn't seen the light yet.
