Leaving a toxic job is the best feeling in the world, but I think it would be dampened if you do not line up another job you are excited about. The uncertainty you feel when you don't have a job builds up over time. Get another job lined up before you jump!

I feel like sometimes it is an emergency to leave a job. You can temp or do food delivery to help subsidize. I left a very toxic job where it was acceptable for someone to give people the silent treatment even when it interfered with works . It was everyone else's fault for pissing her off. Not hers for acting immature, I considered my metal health an emergency! That's why I have a healthy emergency fund, so I am never stuck somewhere like that.

Listen, when you are in a toxic work enviorment it literally affects everything! I'd say get side hustle until you feel ready to build again. But leaving that job seems like must for him.... Leave gracefully though in case you need that bridge.

True or no debt. Got a family member that quit his job the minute he was done paying his loans and had a bit of money saved. He was searching before but it was tough to interview since he had one of those "high travel never is home" jobs so he just saved up money and took the leap as soon as he started receiving interview requests.

This is true. Everyone doesn't have that Entrepreneurial mindset where they can launch into the deep. That's why folks see people like mr. Some folks have to be trained to see their life as a business & map & move accordingly. Most teachers, me being one & engineers are very methodical in how they think, move, & operate in life. We're how to people. You give us a template, we take the ground running. Our kind needs steps & procedures a lot of times to get that engine to move.

He needs interview coaching. Also not having a job is a whole nother level of motivation. And no one wants to interview out of state prospects at this time. He also needs to be willing to take a pay cut to get into pharma, but once he has that first job, he can look at getting a better one in a year or two. He is too much of a wild card for his skill set.

Unfortunately, I think the networking aspect of job searching is still somewhat underrated. I can honestly say that main reason why I got the job I have now (after almost 1 year looking) was because of God and a connection. Connections are powerful. They make the job search 1000X easier and MUCH less stressful. Moreover, they give you an advantage in a competitive job market where you’re competing against applicants that may have more experience than you. If there are any soon to be graduates reading this, build a strong network YESTERDAY. You’ll be glad you did.

Not in IT. Linkedin is terrible for staffing agencies. You get so many offshore companies who want you to move across the country and get paid $18 an hour for a job that should be paying $40+
@maralinautube
@maralinautube 4 жыл бұрын
@@npolite22 Please reread. You're misinterpreting what I'm saying. I'm talking about LinkedIn for networking. I gotten job leads through my LinkedIn connections. I've been a Career Coach since 2015. Everything I teach my clients is what God self taught me. I was either unemployed or underemployed for several years not knowing how to leverage my current skill set without starting school all over again. When I transitioned into coaching, I was learning the things I teach as I go. There weren't KZbinrs talking about Career Coaching or coaching period for that matter. Everything I mention pieces & ties in together like a puzzle & a pie. I teach my clients as to how many job searches they should be doing a week; how to transition into a career without starting at entry level; what are the most reputable job sites; best days & times to reach out & follow up with employers; how to investigate what type of interview you're gonna have prior to showing up; the importance of cover & thank you letters & how & when to send each; the importance of career assessments; how to properly take career assessments; how to negotiate salary; & how to conduct proper labor market research.

Why staffing agencies? Can you elaborate?
@maralinautube
@maralinautube 4 жыл бұрын
@@ZombieEater1001 Everything is a healthy mix. Like I mentioned with the other person's comment. Everything with finding the right job boils down to networking & a numbers game. The right resume is a certain % of the pie. Networking about 50%. Staffing agencies another %. Your college Career Development Center is another %. Proper interviewing another %. Follow-ups with thank you letters another%. Internet job boards go by filtered words to attract job seekers. Most folks wonder why they're not getting calls. For every job posting, there are approximately 200-250 other applications applying for that same job. So if you can streamline your job searching approach with what I mentioned, you now have a healthy mix, & you're ahead of the pack. 2015, I visited one of the college's I attended Career Development Center. The current Director at the time, I knew because he was previously my instructor for a Workforce Development program & recently got that promotion. I gave him my résumé. The very next day, I contacted a staffing agency. They immediately asked if I knew the Director. I said yes. They said, "He just emailed us your résumé & he highly recommends you!" The staffing agency loved me so much, they wanted me to work directly for them for a 9 week assignment. They interviewed me over the phone. The District Manager interviewed me over the phone. He said once the assignment was complete, that they would offer me any job in the company. This is an international staffing agency. The position ended up being rescinded. A couple of months go by, they say, "Hey! I know we offered you a position to work for us & it got rescinded. There's another opportunity that you might be good for similar to what we're doing. Just interview for it!" I interviewed for the job. Got the job. I've been Career Coaching ever since.

This dude needs a side hustle. My man if you have a PhD in engineering you have SIGNIFICANT skills. Think outside the box, how can these skills be applied in other areas? He's so focused on doing data science for a large corporation he's not seeing the other opportunities. How can some of your skills and minimal invested hours help out a small business? How can you present it to them as a value proposition with a decent ROI? You only need to convince one business owner and bam, now you have an example of it working to show more business owners and/or potential employers. Many small and mid sized business hardly leverage data at all, heck most large corporations just gather it and never fully utilize the potential of analyzing it effectively. Also, data science and "big data" is in vogue right now, it shouldn't be a tough sell to a business owner whom pays attention to trade magazines, media, etc. They all just assume they can't afford it, but what if you can bring it to them cheaply?

He will never be successful targeting small businesses with data science..lol. data science is reserved for mid-large corporations. If he does data science for a small business he will have to wear about 5 hats before even beginning data science work

Data Science has become one of the most competitive industries in the past few years. A vast amount of disillusioned Phds are leaving academia and seeing that the high paying, sexy tech Data Science is the next thing, they jump on Kaggle and get a few data science projects and now they call themselves data scientists. Guess what, Data Science cant be done without a proper data infrastructure. A lot of companies are realizing this and are now hiring Data Scientists that also double as Data Engineers or Software Engineers. I think a PhD without industry experience in Data Science, is a red flag for employers. This person will likely demand a certain salary for their years of experience in another field but cannot bring the same value to Data Science (Feature Engineering, Preprocessing, Model Development, Model deployment, Cloud technologies)

Jesus is coming back soon. He loves you dearly and calls for you to come back home to Him! that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. He calls for repentance and belief in the Gospel. It’s time to fully surrender to Christ. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well
