No matter if you are in or out of debt, inflation and high gas prices lead to less buying power. Dave needs to acknowledge that at his level of wealth, there is less of a bite. If you are out of debt but make $50K a year, this hurts.

Same here! It was a rude awakening for us in that we needed to learn how to sew, garden, etc. We didn’t go overboard, but we have since stocked up on flannel and other basics. We have started gardening and teaching our kids the same. We also started buying meat locally from a farmer and buying in bulk. It’s never a bad idea to be prepared.

Grow your own, establish connections with local farmers and dairies, work hard to figure out what your family needs to survive and make sure you have what you need with the resources available to you. For some, that is moving out of the city and growing/raising your own food. For others that means putting back extra food/water/ establishing rapport with your country friends and family and setting up a bartering system.

I am in my mid-seventies and remember (like it was yesterday) the rising/out of control inflation in the early 1970's. Most people thought back then that it was the end all. Here we are in the 2020's with 'almost' the same type of scenario. When I say almost, back then, we had 1 1/2 - 2 hours of TV news per day. Now it's 24/7 with hundreds of different outlets and everyone saying something different. It's no wonder the people of today think that this is the end all.

The PPI has outpaced the CPI. That means corporations have actually been holding back the temptation to pass on rising costs to the consumers. So it's been the opposite of price gouging. Yes! It costs more to fill up the truck! And many are switching to more fuel efficient vehicles because of that. But what about those of us that drive that big truck because it is necessary for the work we do to make a living? And before you say switch to a vehicle that doesn't burn gasoline; NOTHING has yet been developed that cover the demands that I put on my truck!! Obviously I have to charge more, but these prices are going up so much I'm afraid some of my clients won't be able to afford the necessary increases!

If your truck is part of your business, then isn't there a tax deduction related to the costs of operating that truck?

@@drbcrb I make about 3-6 times what anyone is willing to pay and my skills don't really translate into other fields. $12-15 an hour just won't cut it for a single dad!! 🤷🏼‍♂️

I like what Rachel was saying especially for those of us who were saving before this mess (saving for a house) and between this and a job change we aren't saving anymore and burning all of that hard earned savings is really hard to deal with when you were wanting to change gears and actually buy a house. To me that is the 4th pig that had all this great set-up like the 3rd pig but they don't have that large gap of expendable that they can eat into without going into the savings.

I love the fact the about a month an half ago the news outlets were talking about everyone is going to be going out on vacation because the pandemic was at a end. But now with gas prices going up in prices I believe everyone is going to stay home. We have a emergency fund for about a years worth of expenses. Just the other day I filled up my truck and it was like $122 and I was ok with that because my truck makes me money that's how I run my business.

We're not stressed at all. It helps that we job is still remote but seeing $68 to fill up tank was quite a shock!!! Also not being able to find one particular type of shampoo for several months is nuts! We just move to use another shampoo. Not a huge deal. Really wish we had at least one electric car about right now🙂 I'm cheap don't like spending any money!

Inflation is not the wolf huffing and puffing and giving up when he can't blow down the brick house, inflation is the flood waters rising; the houses in 'Atlantis' are all under water whether they be straw, stick, or brick.

Don’t understand how living on a budget solely, resolves inflation. Now, investments, stocks, commodities resolve some of these things. Agree, budget, though.

@@thunderspence8183 In these legacy countries, controlled. Not free. Legacies are the countries creating chaos, ‘playing intently the inflation game’, we call them the ‘big boy countries’, exaggerated in their own minds, to a high degree….. in these eschatological end times, prophetic times, where now, they’re ‘throwing everyone under the bus’. Amer., UK, Western Europe, and all of the English Speaking countries. If they only knew the prophecies, which are beginning, they wouldn’t believe it…..of what will be taking place in their respective countries. (God is not pleased and his recompense is arriving) One must have their domain settled, off grid, and really, no need for grand excesses of monies laying around. It’s time, basically, to head for the hills, while the book of Revelation is about to play out.

Can we just have Rachel as the full-time co-host and simplify things a bit? She is so funny and softens Dave (just a bit) so he still gets his point across but she provides a very useful and welcome counter-balance. LOVE these episodes!

I understand exactly what Dave is saying!.......I live a simple, nice, downsized, debt free, healthy, spirtual, life!.....BUT when you have an emergency fund, debt free, and things are increasing rapidly and continuously....YOU do become concerned, frustrated, a bit anxious.... BUT the level of frustration, fear, anxiety is at a very different low level of someone NOT prepared, being in DEBT, not sleeping, highly anxious, can't cope, etc...
