The avg. American is having a tough time, I know I am not alone. There are others in same position as me. By certain statistics: 22% of americans have no retirement savings. 64% are worried that they will not have money in latter years while 47% of adults who are not yet retired think they have to work part-time in retirement. How can I best grow the 100k I have saved seperately outside retirement access which of course had depleted over the years?
@eloign714724 күн бұрын
It's recommended to save at least 20% of your income in a 401k. You can use online calculators to estimate how much you should save based on your age and income. Saving at least 20% of your income in a 401(k) can help ensure that you have enough money to retire comfortably. By saving this much, you can take advantage of compound interest and potentially grow your retirement savings over time.
@rogerwheelers432224 күн бұрын
Effective personal finance management is more important than the amount of money saved, regardless of whether income is earned through job or investment. Individuals can seek counsel from a certified financial advisor to optimize financial outcomes, who can provide specialized advice and methods to decrease expenses and maximize income.

I completely agree; I am in my mid 40s, approaching retirement, and have approximately over 2million dollars in external retirement funds. This thing with the restraining order and not being allowed in the house is a sticky one. You have HOME RIGHTS no matter whether you are married or not. I'm not sure he can kick you out officially due to a restraining order. If so, you still have HOME rights. I recently wrote an article about this. Get a lawyer who understands this and is willing to fight for you while respecting the restraining order. The restraining order is about HIM, not the house. It's possible that a smart judge might suggest you BOTH LIVING SOMEWHERE ELSE until this is settled.

Buying a house with someone while married does not make it much better. I left our house after a domestic incident and was not allowed back to get my stuff until I had a signed letter from an attorney because I did not press charges. All the lawyers do is take your money and continue the case as long as possible. I ended up settling after wasting almost $10k in lawyer fees. I did not get half of the home or anything in it. However, that is the price you pay when dealing with a narcissist.

First caller: 1. Viewers get only one side of the story 2. Ex boyfriend could be a manipulative, controlling abusive jerk. Or he could be the most reasonable person alive. 3. Caller dropped a few red flags, suggesting she has issues. Violated a restraining order. Multiple times. Suggests boundary issues on her part. Claims no one is willing or capable of helping her. Judges will not respond to ex parte communications. Police can typically do what I believe is called a civil standby , which would allow her to retrieve her belongings. It's not believable that no lawyer understands her situation. If the RO was ex parte, she might not know the grounds for a judge granting it. However, she explicitly stated several times that her ex lied. That suggests she knows the reason for the RO. It's not believable that she can find no source of income. Door dash, Uber Eats? Any job where the requirement is you are breathing? Her reactions during the call suggest that in HER mind she is being treated unfairly and unreasonably. She does express herself in a way suggesting she feels overwhelmed. Whether that's a performance or not is impossible to determine without hearing the side of everyone involved. Considering the call in it's entirety, there's good reason to take the caller's statements at face value.

Hi, I read ur perspective, and I wanted to share mine. I have gone down the rabbit hole as they say since finding this show a few months back. 1 thing i came to understand listening to these messages over and over is that the formula here is not only a financial one. The thing about paying off all debt, including the mortgage as fast as possible is to give us humans peace of mind and a modicum of safety regarding the " dark days" that each of us have at times in our life. Also the interest we don't have to pay is a big motivator. I added mine up on a mortgage calc, and OMG. I had no idea. And ultimately, if we do what the formula is, for me, I'll own my home, have no debt, have a college fund for my son started, and 20 grand in the bank in 6 years. I'll restart the 401k next September or October next year, so that's only held for a year. Imagining what I will be able to do with my entire check minus food gas and utilities, and the security i will have owning my home outright has me motivated again and again. That is priceless to me. And has little to do with money. Have a great day!

You are NOT going to make millions by saving 625$ a month. It just won't happen. What a canned response theseSo unrealistic. unrealistic.

According to the math, $625/mo at 8% growth from age 25-65 is ~$2.2M. That's a better plan than giving up.

@@LordBass The RS personalities think they can predict what the market will be like 40 years out? Seriously? When we have seen the lightning fast rate of change in the country in even the last two years? STOP, RS, JUST STOP with making promises about the market you can't predict.

It's not a promise about the market, but please enlighten us, what is your plan

@@TulsaDude My plan is working with a very good financial advisor who has done very well for us - worth every cent of her fee as my husband and I would NOT be spending our time pouring over investments. For our own "fun money" investments that we do ourselves we have invested in utilities and dividend stocks - no matter what the housing market is going to do, everyone is always going to need the utilities. It's also done very well for us with slow and steady growth over the years.
