Amazing shots of the embolus afterwards, usually they retract it quite quick which makes is difficult to spot but he just let it hang out there for all to see 👀. Very interesting on the theory of it having signs of the females epigastric furrow lining on the tip. Amazing footage as always guys, much respect to you both 👏👍

Absolutely epic bit of footage for sure i noticed the spot on his emboli immediately and was like talking to the tablet like what the hell is that and of course i assume it was fluid but that makes a ton of sense i have to agree with u on that for sure i must say seeing them drum on the video ABSOLUTELY doesn't give it justice till u see it in person! I always very gently use my paint brush to very carefully rub their front pair of lelgs to say hi and let my presence be known so not to get a bolt and yesterday for the first time ever my gbb female apparently liked when i rubbed her leg so much she thought i was trying to rizz her up and started drumming at me i burst out laughing so hard it was absolutely the cutest thing ever and its so true that if we as keepers use the same taticts that they use with one another to communicate then we get better results and im soooo glad that i found ur videos before ever getting my first tarantulas bec it enabled me to have interactions with them that are just awesome i dont particularly want to handle my spiders in the way some people do i dont mind if they choose to come on me but id probably never intentionally pull one out to hold like i would say my bearded dragons and its super cool to be able to somewhat communicate with the tarantulas in that way obviously we or i have no idea what they are saying but the drumming is a true and tride statement from them and it was super cute lol and she was so sweet about ut

Dear Mr. BEASTIE I start off every Monday morning with you and the kind camera lady. Nothing like starting your new day with spider sex. Living in Kansas I often think about cat sex. I live in the country with lots of barn cats It is very painful for the queen because of the way the male is designed. Won't go into graphic detail but perhaps there is something similar on the embolie? So nice to start my day with you as long as you keep the spiders on your side of the pond. Great show. Peace, Annie in Kansas.😊

Hello Dave and Camera Lady!😊. It is so lovely to see you. ❤️ What a fascinating video! I have a few thoughts on this. 🧐🤨 Bear with me, I will try to be coherent. There are other species that do not have the most comfortable of copulation regimes. Cats have a pretty uncomfortable breeding 🙀and dogs 🐩 as well to an extent. It does seem that the discomfort usually falls on the female. 😉And yet the drive to breed over comes all else. Interesting that. I wonder, with the spiders, if it is a combination of things. You have spoken of the kinds of tarantulas that have gentle pairings and than those that are more abrupt. Is there a difference in the mortality of the males with the different kinds of pairing? Does that make sense? I would think that the higher mortality might come from a more friendly pairing process. They could also need the nutrients as we have seen how much having babies can take out of a female. Just some general ideas. I think you may be on to something there Dave. It sounds like you may be coming down with something. Please take care of yourselves. There are some wicked bugs out there right now. 😷🤧I am finally better but I still can’t talk!🥺 I think my husband would celebrate that’s but he can’t talk either!🤣🤣 I am off for the night. Thank you again for the food for thought. See y’all soon! 🤠😴

Amazing one of a kind video, when I first saw that at the end of his embolie I did Think it was liquid fluid but then, after looking at it again, I seen it was solid, and his embolie is very big and thick, I do agree with you about it being flash and painful for the female so any kind of pain could cause a bad reaction like her attacking the male. Great video thank you David and camera lady.❤️🕷️🕷️👀😳

Way to start my day, wake up to you two and a new vid !!! Your analogy makes a lot of sense, immediate and instinctual response to pain/aggression/stimuli. It’d be wonderful if your local scientific community would take a look at your footage and hypothesis.

WOW that was really something !! She acts like their are other spiders everyday coming over 😂🤣😂

WOW! I'm going to agree with your theory Dave, because in many cases it does look painful to the females. A smooth operator may well live to see another day. And Insect Politics, she may react with instinctual defence. Also, because they do cannibalize regularly- you can imagine that mating comes with risk anyway. But as you have shown here- there may well be a trigger response. Kudos on this footage Dave. Peace.

@calliew3119 ай бұрын
That was amazing! I always thought it was "pain" or whatever a Tarantula feels that is like pain to them. Because the way they jerk down, it's like an automatic reaction, not a food reaction. I sent my Aphonopelma iodius (a Nevada tarantula, that lived in Reno, NV) MM to a breeder in Houston. Their first pairing didn't look super great, but there was that shock and auto reaction we saw here, without the flesh of course. Luckily my male was able to get away, and the breeder's female hasn't been receptive since, so, I think that reaction was a positive sign that the first pairing took. I hope so at least. I don't want half the sac, just like 3 or so slings. I don't need half a sac of A iodius, lol. Anyway, what an amazing video. Thanks Dave! PS: at the beginning when we saw a portion of your hand, I thought it was because you had a paint brush ready to separate them, then you said you were just getting a photo. Lol. 😂 PSS: do you plan on coming out with more calendars? I know it's Feb, but I would still buy one. I tried to get in touch on FB Messenger, but I was too late, you'd already sold out.
