LOL thank you for that great comment, we really appreciated it. And guess what, your right, as it is an art form. I give all of these artists a huge deal of credit because they open themselves up and put it on the line. It takes a lot of guts to do that and that is why I have so much respect for them. Kendrick is simply one of the best at it.

I am in love with the idea that an iconic artist can make a 3 minute song that can take upwards of 30 minutes to explain and dissect in a way that allows any human to relate to the type of feelings that go through a persons mind on a daily basis. Self hate, imposter syndrome and depression are real things that can affect even the most iconic members of any given generation.

Ding Ding Ding. Perfect, thank you so much for that great insight as this is exactly what we are trying to do. We want people to realize from music that these are the type of feelings that everyone around the world with go through on a daily basis or at some point in their lives and just to be aware of what these feelings and emotions can do to you if you don't process them in a healthy way. Please continue to watch and comment.

A real friend is someone who makes you comfortable with your flaws. Accepting who you are is the first step to creating the foundation for a strong self image, and a friend who can understand and empathize with you is a very powerful thing. And similar to the Kendrick song LOYALTY., loyalty should be key in a good friendship. I don't believe in family, personally. I think that *friends* are family, and if your biological family do not treat you as an equal/friend then there won't be understanding, and without understanding you can't have a healthy relationship. The title of "family" must be earned.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and views on what it means to be a real friend. I agree with you. A real true blue friend is with you through thick and thin and accepts you for who you are. None of us are perfect but a friend who lets you be yourself and is happy for who you are and what you stand for is a great person to have around you. Never be around someone that needs "to change you". Unless its something positive like helping you get of drugs or out of a destructive relationship. As for loyalty I have been friends with some people for close to fifty years and those are the ones that are loyal to you and are there for you. Good luck in finding your true crew.

It's sad that some people realize that like you said "the title of family must be earned" that if they realize it (in the Hospital) it's to late. So many questions never being asked, and never answered. So you're here crying bout the loss. We need too communicate even if it's hard. We need to talk with Friends and Family, we are here for a limited Time..

I appreciate your perspective, I share a similar one. I'm one of those people; although I'm not sure how common we are, but in a society with as much mental illness as our current globalized one has, I'd bet it's more than any of us expect. I think of my friends as my *true* family, because when I'm with my blood family I live a sort of double life (ironically much like some of my favorite and most inspiring fictional characters growing up) where I can't express myself fully and completely, lest I face HUGE backlash. Possibly disownment. My close friends, on the other hand, I'd trust my life with and I never feel like I'm walking on eggshells. We never lie to each other because we really understand each other. I'm waiting until I move out and am financially independent and stable for a decent number of years before I let loose the secrets which have been key to the vast majority of my personal growth on my family. Wish there were another way, but, and it sucks to say this because I hate lying: Lying is, *sometimes,* the best thing to do when you're around people who can't accept your authentic self and your life's path. Even if you're actually doing something good and living out your most fulfilling life path, sometimes people get too in their own heads to see reality for what it is, and make so many assumptions that they see nothing but their own assumptions. That's not a good way to live, but you can't just stop someone from doing that. They have to find their own way out. Some never do. That's just how this life is; everyone's experience is unique. My empathy goes to all who are in a similar situation in their lives. Much love, know that you are far from alone. And please trust me when I say, I know how easy it can be to convince yourself that you're alone, and how deep down that hole you can find yourself in before you even fully realize it. You deserve a beautiful, fulfilling, good life.

In the song before FEEL. on DAMN. called ELEMENT., Kendrick says "bitch all my grandmas dead so ain't nobody praying for me". I think the death of his grandmothers may have played a big role in Kendrick's feelings on FEEL. and DAMN. as a whole. I wonder when those deaths occurred... Also I think it might be beneficial to add that on a previous song of Kendrick's called Institutionalized (which was on TPAB) Kendrick quoted one of his grandmothers who said "shit don't change until you get up and wash your ass" which seems to connect to what was said on DUCKWORTH. "it was always me vs the world until I found it's me vs me".

Thank you so much for your comments and what you pointed out to me and to the rest of those watching. I love it when fans post new information and perspectives about these artists and songs. I have to agree with you regarding element and the comments he made. Its obvious to me that losing them had to have affected him in so many different ways. It also shows me just how important it is to have role models in your life and how we often quote them after they are gone. Finally it also speaks to the greatness of Kendrick in his ability to have a lot of his songs connect to each other. Great job to you again for clarifying these points. Please keep watching and subscribing.

This is one of my favorite songs of all time so I was excited to hear your thoughts. Loved the video btw, this is such a unique an perfect channel that I think most people in music sadly won't appreciate. Kendrick is one of the few artists that makes music that is art and you can break down. It's not just about money clothes and hoes like the new age rap. I was disappointed that you didn't touch on the subject on Kendricks feelings of the world. I can almost compare it to how you did the capital steez analogy about how he is going crazy people are worried about the tax on sugar and he is worrying about huge worldy issues. In the second verse he starts rapping about all the bad stuff in life like filling them up in prisons, filling the blanks with coffins filling up the banks of dollars etc etc and then he goes on to say he feels like Pac because he is one of the few rappers left rapping about real issues and not money hoes and clothes like i said. The industr doesn't want artists like kendrick making people think. Then he goes on to name all the things he is battling. And to me it almost seems like he is battling the whole world. Him and capital steez both talk about the apocolypse but i think they do it metaphorically. They were enlightened more than most rappers. to me it seems like kendrick and capital were in the same space thinking they were kinda just "over" or "done" with our current world. Fed up is a good way to say it. And then Kendrick goes on to give examples of symbolism with starting a regime with the Phoenix. Very deep stuff in my opinion. Need more videos though cause I almosted watched them all already the first day discovering you.

I really liked everything that you had to say and how you put it all together. We are humbled and honored that you have taken the time to watch all of the videos that we have put out. Hearing that statement from a clearly true fan like yourself of Kendrick and STEEZ is a compliment that we dont take lightly. I also like how you put the two artists together in showing how similar they are in temperament and with their insight. I also agree with you that both of these individuals were and are ahead of their time. Please continue to watch and comment on any future videos that we put out as I would like to hear what you have to say. You have a lot to offer. Thank you again.

This is great, and such unique analysis. I'm watching this right after your video on fear. I've never realized how central fear is to this album, and to making authentic stuff. So much of depression is fear too. I've got to get better at fighting fear instead of having it depress me. Thank you so much for this.

Thank you for those nice words, much appreciated and thank you for watching several of them. Also I am glad that you were able to make the connection. Yes, depression is the culmination of fear. If you have confidence in yourself and/or confidence that you can figure something out that's new to you, then fear simply washes away and it has no control over you. Because by doing or learning something you are showing that you are not fearful and that you can handle challenges that are a part of life. Hope this perspective is helpful. Good luck.

I guess if a therapist was gonna analyze any song, it would be the one that's basically just the rapper telling you how they feel huh...
@brucemufson5810
@brucemufson5810 6 жыл бұрын
That is a good question. The best way to answer that is to say I enjoy rap because the music is so expressive and unlike other musical styles the artist does not put themselves out there as much as rappers do by describing their life and where they came from. To me it makes the music more real and easier to break down and go over. However, we are open to all types of music and lyrics that are more then just boy meets girl, boy loves girl., boy and girl are now together. Thanks for the comment and keep on watching.

Thank you so much for you comments. We made this because as a clinical social worker I felt that to relate to young people and people in general you have to find a medium that works with everyone and for me that is music. To me music is universal. Since Kendrick's music is so literal and expressive it makes it easy for me to do what I do. People then feel that they are being listened to on a level that works for them. Thanks for watching and commenting and please continue to do so.

A friend is a person with whom you meet up and who has a profound respect for you. You talk to them, you love them, you play with them and even work with them. You call them by their name and they call you by yours. You look at them when crazy shit happens. You play jokes on them. You apologize to and forgive them as soon as you can. I am a trans woman and there are very few people who even do two or three of these things with me. I am lucky in that I have a wonderful family of my brother and my mom in which we are all friends and we live and eat together.
