I'm holding out for a "janitor reacts to Will working as janitor scene" reaction video.

Lol!!!! Maybe that was done realistically as well! Matt and Ben were thorough!

"Now I'm going to pause it right here. Will would have wrung mop out before dropping it to the floor, instead of leaving it sopping wet as he did here. We mop with a *damp* mop to pick what is too small for the broom to get.."

It's an amazingly sensitive and well thought out story arc that affected me deeply when I saw it. Light years ahead of it's time. When you said 'just by being a great guy' I think that really sums up the reason he was able to earn Will's trust. Sensitive, intelligent people can see straight through anything inauthentic. I have helped a friend when he was in deep emotional pain, and I think I know the feeling of offering some important loving fatherly guidance. I wish I had received it when I was young.

Thank you brushfuse! What an amazing comment. I'm sorry you didn't get that growing up. It looks like you turned out to be a pretty fantastic person despite that! Thank you for being one of the "great guys" out there. The world needs you! Thanks for watching and commenting.

The Sean character could have been charged with assault and could easily have lost his license. But Matt Damon's character grew up with the mentality that being a "snitch" is not acceptable. He wasn't going to be reporting the therapist under any circumstances. In fact, he probably had a smidgen of respect for "Sean" after that happened because he was no stranger himself to using violence when angered or triggered. When they met the second time, "Will" gave Sean the courtesy of hearing him out rather than getting defensive and leaving or striking back at him in anger. The way that relationship deepened over time was beautiful.

Who knew that grabbing someone by the throat would be such a powerful therapeutic interaction! Yes it goes along with him sharing his own physical abuse. He eas relatable to will which was huge. Thanks for watching Susan!

Aside from it being a movie, I think that Sean could give Will his number because he wasn't a practicing therapist anymore; he was probably still licensed (for Will to be able to see him as stipulated by the court) but he was really a just teaching in the movie. (By "just teaching," I'm not belittling teaching; I mean only teaching and not practicing.)

Yeah if he doesn't care about his license I guess he can so whatever he wants.

I can think of maybe one reason as to why personal relationships even after therapy would be forbidden (abuse of the relationship - that was necessary to be built for the therapy - for the therapist's personal gain), but is that all, is it even part of the actual reasons, what other reasons are there?
@danielchu Жыл бұрын
You actually can carry on a relationship after 5 years after therapy ends. It is to protect the therapeutic relationship. If there is a possibility that there would be a personal relationships after the client may not view the therapy space as safe i.e. if you are going to be my friend afterward I may not feel comfortable spilling my guts! Is it right? I'm not sure but those are the rules! Thanks so much for watching!

@@danielchu Ah, that's indeed a very good point I hadn't thought of! That fear, or at least reluctance, of, "I don't want to risk our friendship by talking to you about those problems anymore." That makes perfect sense. 🙂

I think you're the second therapist I've watched react to Good Will Hunting. It is interesting to see a licensed therapist's point of view. This movie is so good!! Who knew Ben and Matt had this in them! HEY!!! Let's post a "1st comment" or 2nd or 3rd, and not say anything about the video. Lame.
