When you were talking about Taylor letting herself be the villain it reminded me of a song by Alan Jackson called "so you don't have to love me anymore". It's a beautiful and heartbreaking song and the premise of the song is that Alan is saying "if you need me to be the bad guy I will if that's what helps you so that you don't have to love me anymore." Like to make it easy on her for the breakup so that she's not in pain instead she can be angry. There are several lines that change throughout the song one of them says "when you and our friends talk, tell them its all my fault, you can say I'm rotten to the Core, I'll let it all slide and get them all on your side so you don't have to love me anymore". Another one is "if the wine you're drinking leads you to thinking that you want what we had before girl you can call me and I'll let it ring and ring so you don't have to love me anymore" and then the last one that's like dagger to the heart every time is "if you need me to make you cry I don't want to but I'll try so you don't have to love me anymore." He never says he's not in pain, he just says he'll take the fall. Which in my mind gives "bow out gracefully" and reminds me of "I didn't have it in myself to go with grace, now you're the hero flying around saving face".

i think what she means by pain is growth. no pain no gain. going through various deaths and rebirths and all the transformations that come with going for your dreams. all the sacrifices you have to make including sacrificing your old self and what you might have once wanted. she very clearly made the right choice but even so, sometimes she still looks back at what it might have been like had she gone the other path. at the end of the day you cant go wrong with choosing yourself, especially when u know ur someone whos gonna give it all u got and not stop until u achieve everything thats on ur mind. cant lose when u bet on yourself, but it does get lonely at the top

Probably my favorite song on the album I thought of it as maybe about a relationship before she really hit it big, a small town love. Pageants are big in the Midwest where she’s from. And small towns can surprisingly be full of pretenders as well. I lived in the south and oh my goodness, people were so so fake, they were just more obvious then here in California.

I think it's about Tom hiddleston one of the lyrics was jumping off things in the ocean or something like that and Taylor and Tom did go to the beach together when they dated. In this song I do think it's about Taylor Lautner because she mentions peppermint candy and Christmas, which makes me think she dated this person around Christmas and she did date Taylor in December and she wrote the song 'back to December' about him. Keep doing this, I also recommend trying Halsey’s If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power album! It is insanely good and the lyrics are an incredible dive into the reality of mental illness, motherhood, sex and love. She has this way of twisting her lyrics using common sayings but giving them a Halsey twist “I tuck a knife with my heart up my sleeve”, one of my faves. I’d absolutely love to hear your take on these songs!

Holiday, peppermint candy … it’s totally Conner Kennedy. In Begin Again, which I also think is about Conner, she talks about the all the holiday movies they watch together. Every photo of Taylor and Conner they were at a beach, so the jumping in the ocean line feels like him (or Tom).

I still believe this is about Taylor Lautner because even if she had married Connor Kennedy she would have still had her own name, she would have been Taylor Kennedy... but if she had married Taylor Lautner she would have had his name, Taylor Lautner. At the time they were dating he was at the top of the game because twilight was so popular, if they'd gotten married and both been Taylor Lautner I can see how she would feel like that would completely eclipse her (twilight pun was not intended)

So, I've watched a lot of your videos, now, and I'm not really sure what negative anyone could find to say about them, sincerely. I mean, touch your hair as much as you like, that isn't the reason we come to watch. You break down these lyrics really well, and you aren't dramatic, or posting click-bait, or screaming, or anything, what you see is what we get. I cannot express to you how much I appreciate that. I just left an entire diatribe on another channel on why they need to lose the click-bait titles, and why they can't use racism and people's sexuality in their titles, and they need to tell the truth, and not sensationalize everything, and this person is 23 and believes she knows everything, I mentioned to her in 10 years she will look back at what she's posting now and cringe. Thank you for none of this kind of behavior- touch your hair as much as you like- people who need to leave those kind of comments possibly need to go and watch channels with people who use racism and people's sexuality in their click-baity titles. I see your interpretation, I never thought of him before but it could be about him, everything you said makes total sense. (Starlight is on Red) I've been thinking it's about her high school boyfriend. I think she mentions they had plans to get married one day in one of her old songs... the town she describes sounds like Hendersonville, where she went to high school. I live in TN, in the same county, about 45 min north. several country music stars live there... she says picture perfect family... for him it's every day... telling me he got what he wanted (to settle down in Hendersonville lol). I don't know if he or Conor got married lol...
