My favorite taylor song. I've never not sobbed when it plays. As a child of abuse and also trying to save my siblings from that abuse when I was of age to leave it all behind. It just bring me back to all those feelings.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us! I am so glad this is your favorite song and that it makes you cry! I thought I was the only one! Cried while watching this reaction too! And ugh... The lyric video is so good with the weeds and the sunlight and certain words are elevated and certain are below.... Taylor is a genius! Also... My fav songs on folklore are a tie between exile, my tears ricochet and Seven!!! Love that this is somebody's fav song🤍

i am actually tattooing the line “are there still beautiful things?” cause it’s the epitome of growing up to me, specially with mental disorders taking control over the years. i am obsessed with this one, how can she remember stuff of when she was seven like this? it’s impressive and beautiful and tragic and nostalgic and happy. all the feelings for this one

for a seven year old to notice something’s wrong with her friends father, it was probably very bad. it’s heartbreaking to listen to this one jesus

Adored the video as always, I think an interesting aspect of this song is that when she says "I think your house is haunted", she voices the innocent thoughts of the child who started thinking so having heard the other child's father has issues with spirits, which actually meant his alcoholism and not ghosts.

This is probably my favorite song on this album. I grew up in an abusive childhood so the lyrics resonated with me. But also it’s just such a pretty song melodically and those violins ❤❤

When this album came out I played it all the time but it wasn’t until one time I played this song that I truly understood it. I was walking down my street and the line regarding the friend whose father was mad and about hiding in the closet came on when I had to literally stop walking. My chest tightened, and I felt like I couldn’t breathe. I began to sob hysterically on my sidewalk because I was the girl that hid in the closet because my father was extremely abusive and it was the only place that felt safe. This song is very special to me.
