HeartSupport - Music to Improve Your Mindset

Therapist analyzes the lyrics of Slipknot's song "Negative One" to discuss how we all have pain living inside of us and the song calls us back to the choice of whether we are going to live our lives through that pain or if we are going to chose to live in alignment with our true, best selves. It's easy to point our fingers at others for causing our pain, but regardless of where the pain came from it is our responsibility to deal with its impact on us, and this song calls us to make the right choice.

I remember after my brother passed, this song popped up on a Playlist and it hit me like a brick fucking wall. I'm sure I had heard it before but the lyrics screamed at me this time, like he played it for me, and i stopped what i was doing and just listened. We both loved metal and slipknot. @heartsupport I'm loving these lyrics breakdowns. You are able to explain aspects of the meanings behind lyrics i couldn't have comprehended on my own. Thanks!

I'd love to see a full review of the self titled album or Iowa! They are both fascinating to look at from a psychological stand point. I love love love what you say around 3:30 onward, so good. They say hell is the separation from God, the light. Depression, Anxiety, self-hate is basically The Negative One, Satan, Lucifer who wants to keep us away from becoming our true and good self.
@matturso2224
@matturso2224 2 ай бұрын
When Corey says "Fuck, The Negative One and I" in a a bridge , I feel a space, a breath between the words "Fuck" and "The Negative One" like he's saying "Fuck the negative one!" It's like he's saying "Fuck that guy (The negative one in you)" and I resonated with that hard today! Today, I choose the mantra "Fuck the negative one in me. I am choosing self-power. Boundaries. I am not the lies people say of me. I take accountability. Responsibility. Hold onto what's mine to hold onto, and let go of whats not. I am not defined by what I think. I am not the negative one in me. The negative one in me influences me, but today is a new day. Today, Fuck the negative one!"

I've been a huge Slipknot fan for a very long time honestly honestly I probably would have killed myself without their music the breakdown on this song is hitting me really hard in a really good way. I recently experienced a death in my family as well as learning that my step grandmother has held it in her mindset set my childhood molestation and Trauma has been a cry for attention my whole entire life. I've had to learn how to live with cptsd and this knowledge has ripped open so much scar tissue . Listening to this has helped me feel a little bit more empowered than I have in weeks. Thank you so much❤

From tromboness: @sashaschoenneman3074 I'm so glad that you've been able to find the strength to go on from this music. Your experiences of trauma are not easy. It can be despairing to have to go though what you've gone through, but you are strong for making it through this far. I hope that you continue to find the strength you need to survive and thrive, and if the feeling get to be too much, don't hesitate to reach out. Hold Fast.

"This is the third song that really deals with the inner turmoil. And I know there's a misconception out there that it's about Joey, and it's just not. And I know people are very adamant in their opinion about it, and it's just not. It’s about trying to make sense of the whole ordeal, and the thing that I realized while writing these lyrics was that Paul's death made me see what I was taking for granted, and that I was spending a lot of energy on selfish needs. I had the choice between the negative me, or who I wanted to be. And I guess if one good thing came from a tragedy like this, it's that I was able to put everything in perspective and realize that I took this band and this life for granted." Corey Taylor

Why in the hell would slipknot getting a Grammy be a good thing? The Grammys are the least metal thing out there. Fuck the Grammys.
