My husband has been a huge fan for a long time and I'm pretty sure their music helped him during some very dark times. He sent me your play list and I am now a fan! Cannot wait to go to the concert tonight and I'm even thinking of signing up as a support wall person as well! Thank you for your enthusiasm and turning me into a fan too! 🖤🖤🖤

All your interpretations of the meanings are spot on, I beleive Corey is specifically talking about the music industry, specifically the pop industry and the raising (almost grooming) of pop stars through the disney or nickelodian talent factories. Knowing that my interpretation of the line "i challenge you to all out fucking life" is a challenge to those youth born and raised to be pop products, I challenge you to life, i challenge you to grow up poor, i challenge you to life the life the rest of us do, you warp the minds of our youth, with values that only someone out of a factory would have, WE ARE NOT YOUR KIND

A lot of people slam slipknot for their music changing and not being as angry as it once was. I personally love growing through those stages with bands - sure, iowa was most definitely the best thing ever - i was about 14 when i discovered it and man, i fell in love - but their music evolves as they do, and with their life experiences , and i think it's a beautiful thing to witness and hear. I love their music just as i love their older stuff, either for nostalgia, or if something happens in my life and i - need - to go back to one of those angrier songs, they're there for me still 🖤

@heartsupport Well, here goes: Everyone in my life tells me I'm doing great in my career, as a father, as a person, and I can't see it for myself. For all intents and purposes there is nothing inherently wrong in my life but I'm just consumed by complete and total depression every single day. I second guess everything I do, I'm never sure if I'm making the right decisions or not. I'm almost 39 and I'd hoped for way more in life than what I have now and I just never feel like I'm where I'm supposed to be. 2018 to 2022 were super traumatic years to me and although I put on a brave face and try to keep on keeping on, I'm just so tired, and done, and sick of everything. The only positive I feel like I have in my life is my kids. I don't expect a video on it but if i could put it to words best, the song Isolation by Altars of Grief is pretty spot on for me. I just don't know how I'm supposed to care about anything when everything in the world just seems so awful and pointless.
@HeartSupport9 ай бұрын
From jimmyjarhead: @davidnihil_ Hey...man I dont know how many times Ive been in this state of mind and nothing seems to make sense. Im glad you have your kids. They are a beacon Im sure. There are so many songs too that I think back on during times I fealt that way. I dont want to sound cliche with something like "just hang in there" cause thats what they all say right? Bro those kids that you mention are the only things that make sense right? When nothing else does, hang on to that.

Just stumbled across this channel today, and I think it's a cool concept to have a therapist listen to music and dissect it through that lens. As such, I immediately thought of a few songs that I really think are in need of this kind of analysis, and searched for them among your videos. I found a few you've done already, which is really cool - for example Unsainted, and Chop Suey - but there were some others no9t on the list that I think you really ought to check out. These bands all have lots of great songs I suggest checking out, but I'll pick one or two that I suggest prioritizing: Gojira - L'enfant Sauvage TOOL - The Grudge Strapping Young Lad - AAA Leprous - Slave Pink Floyd - When the Tigers Broke Free Pain of Salvation - Sisters Linkin Park - Breaking the Habit Clawfinger - The Faggot In You (criticizing homophobes, not glorifying them - I know it's an offensive word, but well, it's the title of the song so..) Apocalyptica - I'm Not Jesus Flogging Molly - Devil's Dance Floor Opeth - Will O the Wisp Ayreon - Comatose Within Temptation - What Have you Done (ft Keith Caputo) Mortiis - Everyone Leaves MCC [Magna Carta Cartel] - Turn That's quite a list by now, but I could go on for way longer, still, this is stuff I think has great potential for analysis through the lens of a therapist.

Metal lyrics are mostly like this. Sure some of the time it's someone screaming for no reason, but that's it. It's an expression of emotions. Sometimes you just need to yell what you are really feeling to get it out there and heard, and metal captures that anger and that raw emotion perfectly.

Slipknot has always had an issue with the music industry and their practices. This song was their "We Are Not Your Kind" debut single and it was a direct message to the over-commercialization of the music industry. As far back as the early 2000s Slipknot was very vocal about it along with Marilyn Manson, Disturbed, Limp Bizkit, and Korn to name just a few.

From Lisalovesfeathers: @MORTEMANIMAyt Hi Friend, I don't know you and don't need to, to be able to tell you that you are no failure and I can back that up because no one is, We all make mistakes, we all fail at something in life, maybe even quite a few things (I know I have) but we all also have wonderful gifts, talents and qualities that make us unique and special. We all carry a light within us and that light should only ever go out when the time is right and for you my friend it is not that time, I want to see a post on here one day of the Therapist reacting to one of your songs, I would love you to post here and tell us how proud you are that you made that happen! I can guarentee you that there will be soo many people here that will celebrate with you but not only because of the music but because you are here, because you reaslised that you had potential, you kept your light going strong. I look forward to that day. You truly deserve it. Much Love Lisa. x
@HeartSupport7 ай бұрын
From Micro: @MORTEMANIMAyt Oh friend, you are not a failure in any way; but I understand that sometimes we feel this way so very deeply that it's hard to see any other perspective as being valid. It's so hard to feel like you are not inherently equipped and that you just keep disappointing yourself and others over and over. That you have this set of expectations in your mind but you just can't reach it no matter how much you try. I don't know what specifically makes you feel like a failure, but I do hope that you can practice identifying areas where you actually tried - which is at the opposite of failing, even if the result produced was not the one you wanted at first. Somehow, we are creatures of learning. Every new thing we try, every action we take is a new experience and we keep learning from it. It's disappointing to not meet our own expectations, yet at the same time it's important to give ourselves grace in the process of trying. You don't have to be perfect my friend, you don't have to be a high achiever in order to have value and worth in this world. You are important and you are growing even when it feels like all you do only leads too leads you to feeling like a failure. I promise you that there is more to this life than this conclusion that your mind has created about yourself. There is a lot more creativity, beauty, strength and love from you to be shared with this world, and to receive as well. I hope that this project to get back into music is something that you will give yourself the chance to do, and that while doing so, you will also practice being kind to yourself. It's really hard to navigate the challenges of creativity and maintain a kind outlook over what we do and who we are. After all, we are our worst critics. But this journey towards learning how to become a friend to yourself, a supportive ally, is really worth it. I believe wholeheartedly in your ability to overcome this feeling, to see the other side of it, to get out of what feels like a rut for now. One day you will look back to now and see how much you've grown, and how proud you feel for not giving up on yourself. You are enough just as you are - through moments of achievements *and* through moments of failure. Hold fast, friend.
