Is This Going To Hurt Forever? Part Three
Welcome to "Therapy & Theology." When you've experienced something devastating, it's easy to question if you're on your way to healing: Is it normal to feel this way? How do I stop hurting? Is this going to hurt forever? Maybe you've even said out loud to a friend, “This has been so traumatic, I’m not sure I’ll ever feel like myself again.”
Is it really possible to move forward after we’ve experienced significant trauma?
With theological research and therapeutic insight, Lysa TerKeurst, Dr. Joel Muddamalle and licensed counselor Jim Cress will help you understand the stages of trauma so you can process your pain in a healthy way and move toward healing today.

As a person recovering from an unexpected divorce 3yrs ago, i can confirm this 3 part video is spot on. I want to encourage anyone going thru the thing that blindsided you, to hold on. It's a terrifying ride I know. But hold on, you can & will survive this. Dont give up. You can emerge whole & healed. It wont be fast, it wont be easy, but it will be worth it in time. You can come out wiser, more compassionate, a deeper understanding of what really matters & most of all a deeper faith in God. Hold on, dont give up. You are worth the better to come. You are loved, you matter.🙏❤️

You can even go back into the hurtful relationship that you didn’t leave because you think now you can handle these things and you are strong enough to not get hurt when in fact it doesn’t matter how healed and strong you have gotten no one deserves that abusive treatment

Good point. I regretted for years not going back after escaping to get some recovery and find my voice. He ended up divorcing me to find someone more sexually compatible, and I lost my chance to make my marriage work. But looking back, I see you're right. I would have gone right back to his abuse and been retraumatized. The healing I had acquired would have been lost. It never would have worked.

Thank you guys for diving deep into these topics. Props to Lisa for leaning into the Lord and Praise Him for allowing and empowering her to function to provide this ministry to others even in the midst of her own trauma. I have been a useless puddle for well over a year. I’m so blessed to be the beneficiary of the wisdom and life experiences expressed here.

Thank you for this series. I will probably be listening to them over and over. I'm currently dealing with MBC and have been going through some of these stages of grief. I also know that everyone will experience different stages of grief at different times, not always in the listed order that is laid out before us. May God continue to bless this ministry in helping those in need not only spiritually but also emotionally and mentally.

I enjoyed your series on working thru trauma. Can you do one on how to manage ongoing trauma, as in inescapable abusive relationships? I am being held hostage and am enslaved by houseguests that became squatters once I realized they have no respect for my boundaries. I am traumatized by their continual threats to call the sheriff and to sue me every time I do something to protect myself from their further takeover of my house. I have no support outside of my church that laughs when I tell them how I am getting screamed at and chased around by people yelling at me. I can't seem to impress them with how this is killing me. The stronger my language in describing it, the less seriously they take me. My family said they would help me evict the squatters, but after I traveled 3 hours by bus to their house to get their help filing out court papers, I ended up getting screamed at by my daughter-in-law and thrown out at midnight from their house, so I seem to have exhausted all my resources. I am elderly and disabled, and these people are draining my financial resources, making it hard to find any outside help.
