I’ve had a port and it hurt so much after I couldn’t even move my entire right arm, but with time it will get better and soon feel like it’s a part of you. Girl you can do this💪

Proud of you Janiece, the way you hang in there knowing better days are ahead. You are right, everyone's pain tolerance threshold is different. My wife had the port put in for chemo and removed without much pain, but headaches she just can't stand, everyone is different. Paul, wish we could get together so I can kick your butt in some video games, :-) Thanks for being there Paul, keeping us updated and joking around a bit.

That happened with my husband too! The surgeon came out and told me everything went great and I'd be able to see my husband any minute. Lots of time went by and I still hadn't heard anything. I was freaking out. Every minute felt like an hour. I ended up checking in with the front desk and they told me "You can head back, they'll update you with what's going on when you get back there". I immediately went into panic and ran back to his PACU bed and thankfully he was just sitting there recovering chatting away. I guess it took him awhile to wake up and that's why they didn't let me see him right away. The wait definitely put me in panic mode though!

So sorry the pain is so intense. As you said, everyone has different experiences with the surgery due to all our illnesses. Hang in there and know that there is a light at the end of this tunnel and you got this! Continued prayers being said.

I know you don’t think so right now, but once it heals you will be grateful every time it’s used to your benefit. I got one installed 2 years ago for chemo treatments. And never had it remove. Just take the I’d card with you to all appointments so they will all be aware of it. Mine is only a problem during mamagrams, they just need to be very aware of where it is. I look at it as a blessing now and will never have it removed. The first time mine was used was 4 days after the surgery to put it in. On your first time to use it, just let the know it’s still a very tender area and they will be gentle on accessing it. Good luck to you and I pray you heal quickly and can get your health turned around using your new port. With your bad veins, I think it’s the best tool for you. Kathy

Sorry you’re feeling so rough! My port placement was much more tolerable, I think. I remember thinking I bet location (where they put the port and tunnelled the catheter) could really impact recovery. Have you been able to use your port yet? Mine was left accessed when they placed it so I could use it right away which was great.

I can't imagine the pain you are in because I've never had a port, but I have had my gall bladder removed and I thought that was the worst pain of my life. So, I can only imagine. Just know a feeding tube is worse, so the more you can try and eat and take your Ensure daily the better. It's time for you to heal my dear. You're gonna be getting the banana bag full of nutrients, but You also need to ask to see an outpatient nutritionist/dietitian so that you can safely reintroduce foods that aren't going to make you ill. I know you are strong and I know you can cope because I have seen you really working hard. Every time I eat, I get a stomach ache and even intractable vomiting, but I know that if I don't eat then my other illnesses will worsen. Take your time and heal. Much love from Nebraska.

Wow be thankful they put you out cause here in Ontario Canada my daughter had a Port Catheter put in and all that did was freeze the area she was awake for the whole thing and freaking out hope you recover quickly and hope it's helps you it's a good tool to have when you have no veins xo

Also, with the pain when you move your arm, it's because it's anchored down by stitches to your muscle... My right side on hurt waaaaay more coz of where the Dr placed it and he stitched to to tight to my muscle so every time I move it felt like my pecs were ripping. It was awful.also, make sure at least for the first couple of accesses you ask your Dr for EMLA cream, it's numbing cream that makes accessesing your port Sooooo much easier!

In case you didn't see my comment in the previous video gel ice packs helped me with my pain. The heavier the better because oddly the weight helped get rid of the pain but also more volume of gel made the length of time the ice lasted longer. Praying for you!

Yeah sweetie, I've had 13 surgeries and most all of them were easy and quick recoveries. I had a pacemaker put in two yrs ago and that hurt more than any of the others. I think because it's a foreign object that is inserted into your body, even just under the skin, and that's a really owwie area to be cutting through and all that. Mine is inserted in the same area as yours, so yeah. It will get better but you're going to have to move that arm to aid in the recovery but then again when you do, it's gonna hurt like a some of a beach. I'm so proud of ya girl, you're handling all this crap like a boss!
@teriruiz8292
@teriruiz8292 6 жыл бұрын
plus any pain meds they can give you will repress the respiratory system and with your coughing, it's not a good thing to hold that back. And of course with your coughing it's going to trigger those muscles right there and that's gonna hurt more as well. So yeah it's all normal for that area, unfortunately. And you've been going through an awful lot lately so that weakens you too

Ice, ice, ice, and more ice... the first week is the worst. I've had several lines. Some hurt a lot and some not so much. It really depends on what muscles they cut and disturb while putting it in. Hang in there!

So sorry you had a rough time. I was very blessed as I was awake for my port placement, just a local. Went home within an hour with no pain meds. It was tender, but used it as soon as I returned home. On TPN now, getting ready for surgery for a j-tube. I have many chronic issues in constant pain with no pain meds. I am totally disabled now. Prayers for your quick healing and pain relief. Thank goodness for Paul, Orion, and your Mom. You are in great hands!!
