I started with LOS in 2016 on a toy drone that only had angle mode. I went from there to the DJI phantom/Mavic cine world for video production. Now doing FPV, also cine for video production. I’m so glad to have found your channel and a return to the value of LOS for further skills development. Big thanks!

Helpful videos! It's taken me about 10 flying outings to get from squares to ovals to figure 8's. Not exactly smooth flying but I'm starting to get my head around it. LOS Acro is hard!

You are a very good pilot, I am impressed. As soon as I turn 90 degrees I lose total control, my mind can't process switching pitch and roll via LOS yet....but I can do the flippy floppies when directly behind the quad and that's really fun. I feel like it will even help me feel the throttle blips a little better when I'm in the goggles.

Great video and tutorial. Have had quads for quite a while subd a long time ago. This series is one of the best that I have seen. I built my first drone which is a alienR5 and all the gear to fly FPV About a month ago and I wanted to learn Line of sight first but I couldn't find any decent tutorial videos On how to Corner Properly As I already learned how to do flips And power loops from the rotor riot trick series. For some reason I found flying in Controlled circlesTo be much much More difficult than any flip or Power loop But after watching Your second tutorial video my flying changed dramatically. So I just want to say a big thanksTo the RCAddict For making these LOS tutorial videos. I think there is a lack of good Tutorial videosThat Explain how to Fly properly So Keep up the good work and I hope to see some more line of sight videos in the near future.

If the quad starts turning in the air (more or less) when increasing throttle (shown at 6:07) than that means that the weights on the quad are not distributed/balanced correctly? Your quad stays perfectly leveled when you throw it in the air.

Well, I don't think it does, but if it moves on high throttle punches that is the fault of the PID controller.

Great video! I really enjoy all your videos. Perhaps you could mention something about the idle speed when doing flips? Cutting thrust without it makes a flip pretty difficult and I think you have it mapped to a switch when you did the catch/crash? Just a suggestion. Keep up the great work and posting videos, you have some mad flying skills!
@TheRCAddict
@TheRCAddict 7 жыл бұрын
I meant the min throttle value as your "idle". This is when you cut your throttle to 0%. There is no switch involved. Punch throttle, cut throttle, flip over, and bring the throttle back up to recover.
@michaelolsen846
@michaelolsen846 7 жыл бұрын
Sorry for not being clear in my question. So I am guessing that you have some minimum rpms even when you cut throttle to 0%? If so, how do they stop when you catch your drone around 4:37? Arm-switch?

Are there drones that fly in acro mode that are available as ready-to-fly (with drone, transmitter, batteries, charger, etc.)? I recently discovered your LOS video and have just been blown away. I'm an experienced FPV freestyler, but I'm now motivated to learn to fly LOS, especially now during the Covid-19 lock down since we're not allowed out in parks to fly FPV. I don't have enough backyard space so I've been using the LiftOff drone simulator, which has been great. However I've noticed that unlike in your video here, my quad does not maintain its pitch attitude when turning and I have to constantly apply a bit of negative pitch, while cross coordinating yaw and roll just to keep it from accelerating forward. Does this seem normal to you? By the way, thanks for the excellent tips on LOS for beginners like me.
@TheRCAddict
@TheRCAddict 4 жыл бұрын
Sounds like maybe your channels aren't centered? In betaflight RX tab you can see if the model is drifting.
@kandredfpv
@kandredfpv 4 жыл бұрын
@@TheRCAddict that was my initial thought too so I calibrated my inputs and verified they were all centered. I've got hall effect gimbals so they are pretty precise. I then fly in LiftOff in FPV mode with the stick inputs displayed and found that I normally pitch up during turns. Having thought about it mechanically, I realised that when a quad is pitched down at a fixed attitude, and you then apply roll as part of a cross coordinated turn, the degree of your roll establishes a new pitch angle in the direction of the turn. So I recon I'm just applying too much roll during my turns and am having to constantly reduce the new resulting pitch angle after the quad changes direction. Or to make a long story short, you are able to do this perfectly and make it look so easy because of all your experience flying LOS...haha.

Great video man. So are those 5152's your new favorite prop? I bought a couple of sets and they don't seem to hold up too great in crashes and I been crashing a lot LOS. The T5046C's seem much tougher, whats your opinion?

It depends really. They require a lot of torque, so on lower KV motors they are my favorite, but on higher KV the V2 cyclone are my favorite. Durability seems the same as any other PC prop to me.

great stuff, i briefly tried acro in fpv and i didnt hate it (thanks DRL fpv sim), i am still worried bout reflexes when i get out of shape, and also camera tilt when i am trying to make a small change to my line, i notice a lot of pro's abandon a line and do something else instead of trying to make small line adjustments. in DRL even a 20degree camera angle is very difficult to make a small line adjustment, it seems to require either opposite yaw+normal roll, or normal yaw+opposite roll... i havent hit this problem yet in real life but i hope it is simpler than the sim, in the sim i end up need ing a pencil and piece of paper to figure out how to fly straight and level in a slightly different line than the one i'm on.....i really hate that feeling, its like the old joke '' you can't get there from here'... i have to practice in quite a busy area, dog walkers and kids going to the soccer pitches can appear from any angle and i need to be confident of my reflexes. ps. show some pics of the damage a 5inch beasty can do to a person,

@neilfpv
@neilfpv 5 жыл бұрын
No. What I meant was that even if I tried my best to find the perfect throttle spot, it wouldn't stay. It will either go up or down. I just can't seem to achieve like how you were doing it. My hands are very stable. I'll try it again tonight since someone caught a bad settings in my Receiver section in BetaFlight. My yaw, roll and pitch were not set to 1500. I'll fix it today.

Do you have a recommendation for prop color combinations that help LOS? I see the colors used in this video. Is this a combo you use a lot or does color matter to you? Thanks

Anything that you can see well, doesn't matter. Keeping it consistent on each build can help though.

Thanks for info. You got me motivated to mix FPV and LOS. I was just doing FPV because easier for me but glad I am working on LOS. You tutorials are helping on LOS. Thanks again.

Do you change the expos for los flying? I found the quad too responsive when flying los compared to fpv...
@TheRCAddict
@TheRCAddict 7 жыл бұрын
Nope, I just use the same rates. Starting out lower LOS rats will help though

Hi .The good news ...I 'am still practicing☺ it looks so easy how you fly Quads.My Problem is that my quad is getting faster when i turn. I think i use to much roll but with less roll it is more like a drift.When i just watch your stick cam i can not see that you pitch hard back to keep the quad leveled after you turn it.I raise my rc rate to 1.1. and the super rates to 73 . Do you have any ideas what i can change? Best regards Marc
@TheRCAddict
@TheRCAddict 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, if you are adding in too much pitch it will lean forwards more in the turn, making it come out super fast. Might have to give some back pitch depending on what it is doing.

Hi i practice and practice and practice but i have still one thing i don' t understand. I watch your video 30 times☺☺☺ and i learn a lot. For me it is easier to make faster turns ( just turn not to fly a hole circle)I have big problems to turn like you do it at 1.30 in your video. I understand when i use more roll to turn my Quad( realacc x210) it banked more and when i use more yaw it is a flat smooth turn. My Question is: How you use the roll? Is your right Stick in the center when you turn? I can not fly a hole smooth circle because my quad is getting faster and banked.... puahhh☺i hope you understand what i try to asked 😆Best regards Marc
