The Valiant is a great plane. I've had mine for about 2 years. It is one of the most stable and predictable planes I've ever flown. Great video as always. After watching the videos you guys have on this plane I had to buy it. Today was my first time flying this plane and wow 😍. I’ve used phone sims for years and owned a champ before getting this. The champ seemed way to “easy” for me. I wanted more agility in a plane and this plane hits the spot. The size scared me, but I found it much better in the air. I love the SAFE feature, but make sure you flip the switch the right direction! I accidentally flipped it from intermediate to advanced instead of from intermediate to beginner and let's just say I learned how to fix rc planes! Just started flying, but love it and love the channel!

I have eleven fixed-wing RC planes. I finally went to a park today to fly for real (instead of an elevator-only 'Boeing' or whatever on my block). I took the A800 glider (Happy Flight, Abs :)), the XK X450 which I just received 2 days ago (which is what motivated me to finally go find some airspace), and the OMP Hobby S720. I learned mostly that I need to train my muscle memory to make my thumbs do different things at the same time. The glider was not too bad, but I did have some trouble keeping it where I wanted it. Never went to any mode more advanced than 'please help me not crash.' I also flew the X450. Did the drone mode, flipped it vertical and did the pirouettes. And then I put the props forward and promptly stalled the wings. I was able to adjust both linkages to the front prop gimbals and now it flies correctly again. I never took the S720 out of the box. I'll go back with some elevator and motor only planes and try to teach myself how to keep track of what I'm doing. I hope to buy one of these someday. But it won't be this day. :)

I agree! This is an awesome plane! I went from UMX planes to the Valliant and it is easier to fly than the tiny ones by far. I have a 70 plus Mentor at my field that does not like too crazy flights and he helped me set it up more tame but seeing your stunts, I think I will go back to original settings like Rick said. Rolls at your rate seem the same as mine but I did notice a few things you did I cannot. Road trip to Carolina next week where I plan to fly it but I will change it when I get home. This wing span is as large as I can fit in my car without taking it off so I am limited to that size. Looking forward to the follow up review! As I always say in my videos, Abby, Byeee!

The Valiant is a great flyer, and super versatile. It's a viable option as a first plane with the SAFE Select feature, but performs really well. At the price, this is one of E-Flite's best 'bang for the buck' planes IMO.

Must say, your flying skills have really improved from a few years back. I remember skirting, balancing crash landings. Now nice and smooth. If you want to learn more 3d stunts and their names, like Blender, PopTop, Flatspin here's a few names that show the stunts and the tx movements in slow motion. Mike Wargo 3d, Vogo's 3d, Mike Linn his tx is bigger on screen so you can see better. I expect to see a video of you doing a inverted harrier and prop hang 1 inch off ground and inverted touch and go. You should have the video ready by next week. Now get in there nate.

Try a 3S 1800 in the plane. The slight weight difference does make a difference. A 4S 1800 will fit in nice but have not tried it yet.

to tell if SAFE is on before you fly just tilt the plane to the side "like knife edge" and if it's in SAFE the surfaces will move and stay in a position to try to level the model, flip the switch and surfaces will relax to midpoint.

The Valiant is my second plane (I am also new to the hobby). My first plane, the Carbon Cub S+ actually turned away from me while landing (during my 5th flight) and flew off into the setting sun. I bought the Valiant because 1) it looked like a trainer, 2) has flaps ( wanted to try a plane with flaps, 3) it doesn’t have gps. I found the virtual fence got in the way, and after the Carbon cub S+ flew away, I decided a plane with gps wasn’t for me. The Valiant is a lot more responsive, and is a fast plane compared to the Carbon Cub S+. Even at 1/3-1/2 throttle, the Valiant can move. Maybe a more experienced pilot wouldn’t say that, but being fairly new, I find I have to pay attention to the plane or it can easily get away from me. I fly mostly in safe mode, with 70% dual rates across the board (aileron, elevator, rudder). The plane is really responsive, so when I turn select mode off, and fly without it I can easily get in trouble, and have to turn safe on to bring the plane back to level. I have been experimenting with mechanical trimming the plane and feel the controls on the plane appear near perfect, but I have yet to fly completely with Safe mode off. I also just started using expo, and my next flight will have 30% expo on aileron because I have more trouble with ailerons than elevator and rudder. Turning is where the plane gets away from me the most. Flaps are currently set at 100% landing (with 20% elevator) and 30% take off (with 10% elevator). With flaps, the Valiant can quickly gain altitude and floats so well, that it doesn’t want to descend!

I’m wondering if the Valiant would be good candidate for a future purchase? I still have a lot to learn from my current planes, but I want to increase my ability with each new plane I get.

If you like E-Flite and sporty planes, you must check out the Commander md, best looking and flying sportsplane I have ever flown (at least in pnp/bnf form). But if you do, I recommend two 3S 2200 in parallell, or at least something larger than 3000mah, as it is quite power hungry.

The Valiant is still one of my favorite and most flown planes. It is not as durable as the Timbers but for the price I don't think you will find a more capable plane. I definitely recommend it as a second plane.

This plane with safe and AS3x is what I recommend for any beginner I feel like the apprentice is just dumb down too much and actually makes it harder to fly in my opinion! This is still high wing plane with the dihedral to me makes a perfect plane for a beginner with safe! And the best part about it is even as an advanced pilot it is very fun to fly so you can enjoy this plane through your whole learning experience!

I'm loving your channel. So I'm a beginner.. I have only flown drowns and is pretty good at it. I have a pilot’s license and learned to fly in Cessna 152 and 172 planes. Cessna wings are on top. On a night flight with bottom wings, we may have died. While landing, a plane was below us and we saw it in time and pulled up.

The shape of the wing is also a big factor in determining if the plane is for a beginner pilot or more advanced. Flat bottom is beginner, semi-symmetrical, and fully symmetrical has more acrobatic capabilities. I couldn't see for sure what this plane has.
