It seemed like your "uh-oh" was uttered while the plane was still pretty high up in the air. I think a quick flick into SAFE would have saved it from the crash. [Even at 78 years old I think I have the quickest B switch finger in the hobby. 😊]

You got it! That's why I program SAFE on every plane I own even though I rately use it if ever (accept on hand launches). If you are about to lose the plane or get it into some kind of uncontrollable funk...throw that switch. Instant save almost every time. For that reason alone I love SAFE.

What's up with all of these hate comments. If you hate the product, then that is fine, but don't hate on the channel. The RC Saylors at the end of the day are good people and don't deserve this hate. Their goal is to only give a review on the product and to make good content. If you got a problem then contact Horizon Hobby. They are the ones who made the product.

We all have "dumb thumbs" at some point - no worries! Great looking plane and seems to fly really well from your maiden. I might suggest using a hand-held steamer to restore the crunched foam (just protect the motor) and some Foam-tac on that split, might get her looking good as new (or close enough). Really cool to see HH coming out with these UMX planes. I bet it uses the same motor and controller board as the new UMX Timber X and UMX Pitts S-1S (same 3S battery for sure).

Thanks for the video. I bought this plane and am very happy with it. I fly it with the landing gear off on 3s batteries. With mine, I had to bend the elevator pushrod with needle nose pliers to get it to fly level (it climbed quite sharply). I also had to bend the rudder pushrod to get the rudder perfectly straight. The rudder has a great deal of impact on the cornering. I have to use a very large field to fly the plane. Plane is very stable and flies very fast. Can fly out of sight if you let it get away from you. Not for novice fliers. It also has a very nice glide to it. Thanks again for the video.

A Volantex cub 500 was my first plane, I was so excited when it turned up I just could not wait to fly it. Unfortunately it was a little too windy and combined with an eye sight problem I have and the fact that I had never flown an RC plane before meant that I lost it about 2 minutes after getting it, but you know what I wasn't even upset about it because that was the best 2 minutes of my life. Flying an RC plane had been a dream of mine for 40 years and in my eyes at least I had accomplished my dream. That was several months ago and now RC planes have taken over my life, I love flying them, I love building them and now I am starting my most ambitious build yet, A scratch built "Spruce Goose" with a 196inch wing span!! Like Howards original only time will tell if it will fly.

@@davetavernor8529 The Voltanex is basically the same design as the Horizon Hobby cub, but it is cheaper and smaller. It flies really good but a small amount of wind will ruin your entire day of flight. Although they aren't meant for stunts I have managed to pull off loops, rolls, repeated loops (I call them O loops), and even a downward screw. I think I want to get a carbon cub next. I saw it at my local hobby shop the other day and it looks a lot bigger and bulkier so better in the windy conditions, and not to mention faster.

I'm surprized the motor angle is still correct! I did the same thing wirh my regular IMX mustang when I lost orientation....but it wasn't over asphalt...so only the nose spinner got mushed! Fixed that with some hot water and sandpaper. Still going strong many flights later!

I got a pretty nice little umx collection I got the spacewalker 3 channel sport plane with no as3x no stabilizers or anything it's all you to keep it in the air and I have about 120 flights on it and not one crash and I only been flying for 2 years which I'm not great but I can hold my own, I have 13 different umx planes old ones and newer modern ones with all the as3x stuff. I love them cause they all fly perfect out of the box with no setup on cg or building throw battery in bind if it's BNF or ready to fly and go fly. I got a narrow but long backyard about 1/4 of a baseball field width wide and can fly all my umx planes back there no problem and I got eachine planes and love those as well especially the whole warbird series ones. I just got the voodoo from my hobby town couldn't wait on shipping and right out of box I was able to fly it in the advanced mode it's very fast hard to track but very acrobatic. I have never crashed any of my mini planes in umx or the eachine ones cuse I love emm so much and about 8 of mine are so old can't get parts for Emm or buy them again so I keep those to just basic loops once in a while and nice safe flying

I can not believe how many great models E-Flite have introduced lately, is this normal or is there like a season where they release a whole bunch of stuff at the same time? Have y'all ever reviewed the Tundra RTF with flaps 🤔 If not I'd like to see it on the channel. It's one of the only trainer type planes I've seen that is RTF with flaps. If I'm not mistaken it cost right around the same as the AeroScout.

the eachine and the horizon have different customer based. i own both and the umx is definitely for performance, its light and can fly at low speeds the eachine is heavy and can take up more beatings and its designed for beginners. but as a person who owns larger, faster planes, i still bought the eachine, just because its stress free. i've crashed my umx p51 and rebuilt it from ground up, and just the airframe alone cost me $90 which is the price of an eachine plane.

It has a JST connector, and you can get adapter cables to fit EC3, or whatever your charger uses.

You can make your own adapters. Very easy dude. Soldering iron and the connectors is all you need. They also sell adapters at HH or Amazon.

That is Voodoo is based upon a North American P-51D-25-NA Mustang that flown by the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) as RCAF 9289. It is a highly modified aircraft for speed, which originally built for the US Army Airforce in 1944, and then put into storage. Canada acquired the plane in 1951 and flew it until 1958 when all RCAF Mustangs were retired. It was then sold to Intercontinental Airways/James H. Defuria, of Canastota, NY, which is just east of Syracuse with the US registration number N6526D. It has been crashed and rebuilt twice, started racing at the Reno Air Races in 1995, acquired it's current purple livery in 1999 as N551VC. It won a number of races in the Unlimited-class, and set a speed record 2 September 2017 - Steven Hinton, Jr. and Voodoo break C-1e speed record at Challis, Idaho. I'm kind of pissed with E-flite as their biography of the plane totally bypasses the RCAF ownership of the plane. I have a couple 450 mah that I use in the pitts and the timber, I do have to slide them all the way back against the receiver to make cg correct though. The venom 450 mah is not that much bigger than the horizon 300 mah but is heavier. If there is room in the mustang battery compartment to go back a little it should be fine

Shoot that little Mustang will fly better with a couple grams of Hot Glue and some Battle Scars, all my Airplanes have battle scars. I am super glad y'all leave in the crashes, y'all are about the most real people doing this. My Bush Planes have a TON! of scars, it's more fun, well to me at least, to actually fly them from the fields near trees and the ponds around hear. Occasionally a tree will reach out and grab the wing or I might have a STOL landing that isn't so short into a mud puddle. 🤣

Baby in the over is good so far! Things are progressing along nicely 😁 Abby keeps growing, and moving a bit slower every day, lol. Our daughter finally knows, and is very excited! She keeps calling him “our baby” and wants to name him Pony, lol. Remember she is three! And yes, we do have a few drag racers. Super fun! We also have plans on trying some racing on the channel. Windy, cold days usually mean we do more ground vehicles than planes, so that is definitely coming to the channel soon-ish 😎⚓️

Take out Volante for umx? My friend I'm a fan of your channel, and I'm not writing this to be nasty, but the cheap Chinese volantex has been far better for me than e-flight has the expensive Chinese garbage has ever been. In fact it's the only foamy I own. Pluse crashed hard several times, and it lacks damage. All my e-flights came damaged in box 2 of them weren't even functional. That's why I started building my own. Nothing like saving $350 for a plane to have damage right out of the box, and bad electronics. Happy flying my friend

Only issue I’m seeing is it can’t land (gracefully) on grass! I can take off from a paved walkway but I can’t land on it reliably! Lol
