2021 Update: Hey folks I know with the recent appearance Julie did on Dark Side of the Ring it has renewed interest in her book HART STRINGS. Understand when her book came out initially it was in 2013 or 2014 and quantities were kind of limited. You are talking about an independent book from almost 10 years ago. Now in 2021 and beyond that book is a white unicorn. Your best bet is to try Ebay or Amazon or so some digging in a Bing or Google search. Good luck.

Fantastic interview. My favourite one of Julie so far. I've only recently become acquainted with Julie's side of the story. I'll try to get hold of her book somehow. Please bring Julie back to the show. It's been awhile and an update would be lovely.

The thing with Bret is he wasn't a attractive guy when he was younger didn't get alot of women ... When Bret turned 30 he got handsome Bret started tanning then the women came he wasn't used to that and that's why unlike the other wrestlers that got caught up and addicted to drug's Bret was addicted to sex and women! That's what saved him from the drug's!

My thought is this: When you marry a pro wrestler...you know what their life is like. You can't up and expect them to change who and WHAT they are. Go watch Rocky 4...same scenario! It's hard for a wrestler to balance his life out...both in and outside of the ring.

It's not hard to remain faithful. These women didn't give to dead rats for you when you were broke. The wife did so, why hurt her for trashy chicks? No excuse

Bret says in his autobiography that he didn’t tell Julie anything of the truth about wrestling for many years after they were married. She also married into a family who lived wrestling and the sisters weren’t the most inclusive, apparently. You’re overlooking water too much with that generalization.

Bret was my crush & idol. I respected him & loved him as a family man but knowing facts about his endless cheating made me disrespect him. There is nothing justify cheating. It is a choice! Why on earth getting married when you have a weakness toward women! Just remain single, enjoy your life without hurting anybody! His wife is so brave to tolerate all that for long years! And yet he is the one who initiated the divorce! Women should never give up on their life for a man! You will be dependent on him then one day he walks away and you are left powerless. She is so brave to tell her story so we all learn from it and appreciate our choices in life.

I bought Hart Strings as an eBook a couple of years back, not realizing that it needed an eReader, not just a computer with the right software. Have luckily found a paperback copy online, so I'll be reading it soon. I wanted to get Bret from Julie's perspective, a new kind of insider perspective. Seems there might be some skeletons. From all I've read and heard, Bret treats his fellow wrestlers well and treats the fans well, but I don't know about his overall attitude towards women. Some guys are great towards other guys to the point where they ignore and disregard women, even their wives, except for sex and a few other things.

Kristopher Caldwell It is actually just you I'm afraid. You have to remember in case you didn't read the other comments this interview was conducted in 2012, maybe 2013 and I was very new to interviewing and to audio equipment used. I am hardly a Christian by the way. This was simply showing a woman respect and not cursing in front of her. This interview was conducted on the old, old blogtalkradio platform so audio quality wise very poor. You fast forward six years later and it is a complete 180 in a very good way.

The book arrived today. It's quite short so I've read it already. It certainly tells "the other side of the story". I wanted to throw or give away my Bret Hart DVDs after reading it. Not necessarily in anger, maybe more "Perhaps it's time I moved on from Bret Hart". Of course there's always another side to heroes' stories. Certainly I'll never perceive Bret quite the same from this point on. This might seem damning, to Bret and to wrestling, but I almost feel now that Bret was a fake hero and Julie was a real one, without trying to be one.

Redfield 100% It's very easy to pass judgement on an audio piece that was done almost over five years ago. Very green behind the ears back then and was not an expert at timing, audio editing and being straight to the point. At the same time I try to have a convo with my guests depending on with they are. If you fast forward and check out the later convos aka interviews I've had with folks you'll find all these has been perfected. Sorry if you didn't enjoy but remember you were listening to a man who at that point was not even on the air for two years and was still new at talking to folks. Thanks for commenting.
