Something underrated imo is the travel portal They usually suck and are overpriced, but Capital One has a nice UI and more importantly, price match So you are actually guaranteed that 10x or 5x back on what you buy. So you can actually tack up points on not just everyday purchases

Price match is only good for 24 from the time you book your flight. The cheaper flight has to match exactly to get the match. Even then it is almost impossible to get paid by then because Capital One is dishonest.

Cell phone insurance only works if you have a postpaid phone plan. Which is usually more than twice the prepaid plans. That's how they get you. You probably will pay much less if you purchase phone insurance separately and get better service. So it's worthless to me. I just use a Chase free card for my bill for the Insuramce

The SavorOne and Venture X combo is going to have most people completely covered The dining and grocery store 3% is really good and the Venture X is your catch all card + has all the travel benefits you need. I still think the Venture X is the best travel card for the money so getting that locked down makes this a great duo.

First of all, appreciate you watching! I'm not sure I have another video to direct you to but I'll take a stab at wording it differently. For example, if you have Capital One miles and go into the travel portal and use your miles to buy a hotel stay for a few nights, you don't earn any rewards on that transaction. Your miles are simply deducted from your account. However, if you go into the travel portal and buy that same hotel stay instead using cash, you'll earn 10X miles back on your purchase. Then, after that purchase shows up on your credit card statement you can go back and use the "Cover Travel Purchase" feature that I mentioned in the video to erase the purchase using miles. In the end, you used miles to cover the purchase in both scenarios, but in the 2nd scenario you're walking away with some extra miles from your initial purchase.

It's up to you. I value the welcome bonuses that comes with starting a fresh application. Thats where you earn the vast vast majority of your points. However, the Venture X is a unique card that has such good value I wouldn't say it's an absolute necessity to grab the welcome bonus (compared to some other cards where if you're not getting a SUB the card is kind of weak.)

If you book in the portal using cash, which in this case means your card, then you will EARN five or 10 X miles for that purchase. Then you can erase the cost of that using some of the miles that you already have saved. If you decide to book using your miles in the portal, you won’t earn any rewards for those purchases

Hey Collin - the Venture X will be treated separately from your Capital One Platinum card and you will likely need to apply for it as a new card. It's important that you do not close out your Platinum card! Keeping that credit history is VERY important to your credit score as a big factor in that is the average age of your credit profile. If you closed that out you would lose that and your score would drop. Additionally, the Venture X requires excellent credit, so I would only recommend applying if you've had your Platinum card for over a year or two and you have a credit score over 700. If not, it may be a good idea to continue building your credit. If you have that credit score and feel comfortable applying, we'd love it if you used our link and supported the channel! How do you buy in the portal using cash and get points? I'm confused on the steps at 13:09.

In the portal when you select a flight, rental car, or hotel it lets you choose between paying for the item with Capital One Miles or actual money. If you choose actual money and pay for the item with your Venture X, you'll get 5X-10X miles back on the purchase. Then, when that purchase settles on your credit card statement, you can go back into your Capital One account and "Cover The Travel Purchase" with Miles (1CPP) to remove it from your statement. So, in essence, you will have gotten 5-10X in rewards for the purchase (really great) but used existing Miles in your account to go back and erase the purchase so it didn't cost you a single cent!

Not worth it then. That $240 back in your pocket is probably a better "self insurance" policy over the years. The Cell Phone Insurance covers some stuff, but not everything

Go ahead and book your trip though the travel portal. Then after the charge is posted to your account, you can "erase" travel purchases with miles. This allows you to still get 10x on hotels and rental cars / 5x back on flights but instead of paying cash, you can pay the charge off with miles at 1 cent per mile
