One small mistake you do is you assume that this gen of consoles is powerful. As you can see the question becomes low resolution or 30fps. As you saw on so many games, black myth wukong and ff16(low resolution) monster hunter wilds, Avowed, dragons dogma 2(30fps) there is no win here, always people will complain no matter what the devs do. Which boils down to the type of game. Fast action fps over resolution and the reverse.

The thing is; a fixed hardware platform will always be a 30FPS platform, no matter how powerfull it is. Developers will look at what is possible at 60FPS and see that they can do more with the hardware if they go down to 30FPS. And that will always be true no matter how powerfull the platform is, sacrificing FPS will always get you more visual fidelity on fixed hardware.

11:30 I’m a software developer and this is mostly true. It doesn’t take away from generative AI uses that *do* present opportunities to cut costs and eliminate jobs, but Copilot/GPT are tools, and almost every developer I know uses them to some capacity. I think the exec was a bit off base, but he’s right in that the programming problems are (currently) the things benefitting from AI the most. With that said, it’s more of the boiler plate/generic/repetitive code, not the high level problem solving. That stuff is still done by humans.
@janus7982 ай бұрын
Also a developer. I think it's very dependent on your domain; using GPT for web dev seems pretty useful for the folks I've spoken to, but anything more involved than boilerplate React frontend stuff and you're just asking for bugs and bad code, linking to nonexistent libraries, etc.
@DrPhoerrets2 ай бұрын
I've used ChatGPT to help with simple algorithms and very common and well know problems in C++ and Unreal. However, anything more modern, complex, and/or niche problems and it really falls apart. It hallucinates functionality and provides bug ridden code. One thing I found really useful was finding the language to understand code. Don't know what to search for when trying to understand what a snippet of code is doing? Put it in ChatGPT and it'll (usually) give you the technical terms for it that you can then search for online.
@JC-Alan2 ай бұрын
@@janus798 no one worth their salt is just pushing GPT code. That idea of it being a “pair programmer” has actually come to fruition. Often I’m teaching it what I know and in turn it teaches me things I didn’t know. To me it honestly feels like the penultimate version of Google. You’re right that it produces bad code, but so does everyone else. The main point is that developers at every level of the stack are using it to be more efficient. That is what this exec is trying to communicate.
