How Jesus Found Me I didn't grow up in a "Christian home" like most people think but in fact grew up in an ultra Roman Catholic home. My home was very religious and will go to the Saint Ignatius Roman Catholic church every Sunday. I was baptized as an infant at a RCC. However, I never heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ presented from the Scriptures at that RCC. It was so mechanical, dead and empty to me like I had to do it just to be “right with God.” Every year I’ll do Lent and Ash Wednesday. I would pray the Rosary, suffered Meatless Fridays, Easters and Christmas Masses. (On December 11, 2008, my late father died of advanced lung cancer he went flatlined right in front of me and my mother he is now with Jesus in Heaven.) As a child almost every night my drunk late father will come home and beat on my mother mercilessly. And one day me and sister came home from school and found our mother on the kitchen floor with blood pouring out her head. I hated my late father and over time my hatred towards him grew and wanted to kill him. I still remember my mother lighting candles with images of the Pope, saints and angels she bought at the supermarket and throwing "Holy Water" through out the house. (Every Sunday at Saint Ignatius Church she will fill her jar from a tap near the entrance way) One night my late father came home drunk and threw one of the candles at my poor mother. Thank God he missed and hit the screen of a heavy TV in the living room. (In her own mind she believed the holy water protected us from the evil in our home and will go away) Now there was a Pastor by the name of Mr.Court. Every Friday night he will come to our house and invite us to his church home for Bible Studies. I truly believe that's where the seeds of the Word of God were planted in my heart But without my parents and him knowing I was really an emotional atheist. I was very angry at God and hated Him especially because I was molested by a next door neighbor and it messed up my sexuality. May Abba Father forgive them! I was also a homosexual and later bisexual! I practiced both sexual immoral practices that were sending me straight to Hell. Fast forwarding! In my teenage years, I’d hang around with the wrong crowd of people and from there began going to parties: drinking, doing drugs and got into the occult. I broke the law and paid for my crimes! Now I loved going to the library(I'm a book worm) but it lead me to the occult because I was curious about magick, Wicca, Casting Spells, Curses, Hexes, Jinxes, Voodoo, Tarot Cards, Palm Reading and Satanism. I was a strong follower of Anton LaVey and Alester Crowley. Crowley said: “Do What Thou Wilt” I lived that Satanic philosophy for years! I still remember as a Satanist tearing a Bible into pieces and spiting upon it as I was blaspheming God, Jesus Christ, born again Christians and the Bible. So I put into practice those things and invited demons into my life and they will torment me each night and had nosebleeds. (I can sometimes hear their ugly voices but rebuke them IN JESUS NAME) This went on until I was 16-21 and later left the occult for Evolution and the Big Bang Theory. That was when I became a harden intellectual atheist and each time God's servants crossed my path will ask them questions that will make them think and question their own faith. I will mock God, Jesus Christ, the Bible and Body of Christ. So they would walk away each time and if I saw them today I will forgive them. Now this is my preconversion: It was one late night, my mother and younger brother were sleeping in her bedroom and I was in the living room sleeping on the couch. It was pitch dark and laying down on the couch and started praying to God(strange right?). I don’t recall the exact words but when I ended the prayer “In God’s name Amen” I heard the most beautiful voice out of nowhere whisper: “Jjjjjjjeeeessssssuuuusss” I got so freaked out that pulled the covers over my head and frighten said: “Okay God, you win you win. In Jesus name I pray Amen.” After I couldn’t sleep that night and later I began reading the Bible and did research on it if it was true. I read about archaeological discoveries, Biblical Prophecy and Jesus Resurrection. I was convinced but only intellectually not internally. Internally came later at the apartment my older sister once lived at. At age 21, my sister would come over every Friday to my home and will invite me and my younger brother to her house to stay for the weekend. She is a very nice woman of God that loves Jesus! Every time she would put on Christian music and would listen to it but one summer afternoon on June 1999 I heard a preacher come on. (To this day I know God predestined me to listen to the Christian song, a nameless preacher then another Christian song. Sorry I don't know his name) The preacher started talking about Jesus Christ how much He loved me by dying upon the Cross for my sins, being buried in the Tomb and resurrecting on the third day in bodily form. (Now in my atheist mind I thought it was stupid for a man named Jesus Christ to suffer a beating from evil men and then nailed upon the Cross for my sins) Later, he talked about the burden of guilt and shame that is upon our shoulders and that only Jesus can remove it. It was as if God was talking directly to me so I continued listening. He offered an altar call but I resisted the Holy Spirit my sister was with me and said: "Give your life now to Jesus Christ" And told her: "Maybe this is all a lie because since God created Satan they are in cahoots. They're on the same page" She told me: "God didn't create Satan but Lucifer. Lucifer was a good angel in Heaven but decided by his freewill to become evil and God changed his name to Satan" She kept on encouraging me to leave my life of sin and come to Jesus by faith. I denied Jesus twice but at the third time the Holy Spirit touched me in a very powerful way I'll never forget. So powerful I fell on my knees with my face to the ground and began crying out profusely to God. I confessed every sin to God I can think of and asked Him to forgive me. That I repented of all my sins. Believe what Jesus did for me upon the Cross for my sin debt taking the just punishment we deserve upon Himself. His burial in the Tomb and His resurrection on the third day in bodily form. To filled me with the Holy Spirit and to make me the person He wants me to be all the days of life. That I want Jesus to be my LORD and Savior and to put my faith and trust upon Jesus Christ for my salvation alone. To give me a clean conscience and write my name in the Lamb’s Book of Life. I don’t know what happened next but it was like a huge rock weighting tons lifted off my shoulders and a strong sense of peace came upon me. I still have that peace with me today because I’m at peace with God and no longer His enemy like I once was. I'll never forget that day for the rest of my life because on that day I surrender my life completely to God. I forgot the song after the preacher ended his message it was Christian song that goes something like this: "Jjjjjeeeeessssssuuuuusssss....there is power in His name Jjjjjeeeesssssuuuuusssssss...there is power in His name" Just looking back at it now brings tears to my eyes!

Former Roman Catholic here (EME, lecter, asked to consider becoming a Deacon). Emperor Constantine made a very deceptive move when forcing everyone to become "Christians" in Rome. Even in Biblical times, we are warned to call no earthly man "father" because our Father is in Heaven. Most Roman Catholic balk at everything that the Bible says because the Vatican (i.e. means "divining serpent" in Latin, not to mention the papal audience hall being designed after the head of a snake) attempted to corrupt Christianity. Ask any Roman Catholic how to be saved according to Scripture and you will get a blank stare. When Jesus died, one of the thieves next to Jesus accepted Jesus as the Messiah and was told that he would be with Jesus in paradise that day. No purgatory, just belief in Jesus. The other thief mocked and rejected Jesus, and is in Hell. The Roman Catholic deception is very cunning, and I am thankful the Lord gave me an appetite for Scripture. When Jesus says "I am THE way, THE truth, and THE life, no one comes to the Father but through me" (John 14:6), this flies in the face of RCC doctrine and how they view Mary as "co-mediatrix" or "co-redemptrix" with Jesus Christ. If someone believes that, they are blaspheming Jesus Christ, the son of the Father, because they are saying Jesus completed work isn't enough when He said "it is finished". Jesus fulfilled the law, and the temple veil was torn in two. The RCC is attempting to bring everyone back under the umbrella of the Vatican, and they will or you will perish during the end times. Finally, and most importantly. How is one "saved" according to Scripture? It is found in 1 Cor. 15:1-4, and more succinctly in John 3:16. So many organizations, not just the RCC, attempt to pervert the Gospel and tell you that Jesus' finished work on the cross is not what saves you. The RCC is anathema, and I would implore anyone to come out of her as quickly as possible. If you want to know how to live the Christian life...read 1 John. There is not talk about man-made (i.e. pagan) traditions, sacraments, or any "work" that we can do to receive the gift of eternal life.

Everyone in the comments section also knows that the doctrine of sola scriptura can't even meet the standard it sets, right? Nowhere in the bible is the doctrine of sola scriptura found. I mean, if all denominations are using the same 66 books, all denominations claim to be led by the Holy Spirit, and all denominations claim scripture is the sole infallible rule of faith, then we should only see one Protestant denomination. If we choose to surrender our hearts and lives to follow Christ then we become the Tabernacle, the Temple, of the holy Spirit. The need for "Church", priest, and religious ceremony has ended. Jesus gave the apostles the authority to build up the church. And listen to his. "When Jesus promised to build His church, it was singular." (Matt. 16:18) and "Jesus prayed that all believers would “be one”. that means there should be one church which is the body Christ. Plus Ephesians 2:20 that states "Together, we are his house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets." Meaning that Jesus gave the Apostles the authority to build up the church, giving them the keys to heaven. Last verse says in Matthew 28:19-20. Jesus commissions his apostles to establish a ministry to continue his work, meaning that the Bible is not the only way to follow Jesus, that's why Jesus tells the apostles to continue his work. And the church is a continuation of the early Christian community established by Jesus's disciples. Those Verses, plus the famous Mathew 16:18 is the reason why I'm still a Catholic, because if those verses didn't say that then I would not be Catholic, plus there wouldn't be a Catholic church nor would there be a Protestant reformation. Hope this helps your understanding, if not then God bless your heart.
@greg65046 ай бұрын
Also, the protestant reformation is also nuts because giving the Bible to people to read on their own would cause misinterpretations of the Bible which is why there are a dozen denominations and sects, that's why the church kept it only for the ministry to interpret and tell the Gospel to the masses going all the way to the apostles who started that ministry.

How would you feel, as a Christian, about giving people information truthfully - or do you deliberately set out to deceive? The New Testament mentions various Church leaders: bishops, presbyters, deacons and the English word “priest” which is derived from the Greek word presbuteros. In English “elder” or “presbyter” (Acts 15:6, 23). All of these elders were and still are ordained by the laying on of hands (1 Tm 4:14, 5:22), they preach and teach the flock (1 Tm 5:17), and they administer sacraments (Jas 5:13-15). They had the authority and still do today, to select, ordain, and govern other presbyters, as is evidenced by Paul’s instructions: “This is why I left you in Crete . . . that you might appoint elders in every town as I directed you” (Ti 1:5; 1 Tm 5:17-22)

If scripture is the sole infallible rule of faith, who is the infallible interpreter? I mean, what's the point in having an infallible book if it is going to be fallibly interpreted? When two non-Catholics disagree on the interpretation of scripture, how do they reconcile who has the correct interpretation? What authority do they appeal to? It can't be scripture, because that is what is being brought into question. These are all questions that I have yet to find answers to. If any Protestants wouldn't mind providing a coherent answer of some kind, that would be greatly appreciated.

The roman catholic church is responsible for imposing sunday worship on christianity. The roman catholic church adopted the changes made to the sabbath by pagan rome. The change first began with constantine in march, 7, 321 a.d when constantine issued a decree that everyone living within city limits of rome must rest on the venerable day of the sun,(sunday) later in 363-364 a.d at the council of Laodicea in cannon 29, the sabbath was outlawed. Then around the 500s a.d when justinian issued justinians decree, Rome passed down it’s power to the roman catholic church. Let us not forget the immense power and influcence the catholic church had in the dark ages as they martyred anyone who opposed their views. It was not until martin luther exposed the cstholic churches false doctrines and until the bible began being mass printed in other languages that the protestant reformation ocured. Ithinkbibbically, sunday worship is never commanded in the bible, and God never changed his mind regarding MORAL laws, the ten commandments are moral laws, not just laws for the jews.

As soon as the observance of Christian faith was legalized by the Emperor Constantine, and the persecutions came to an end, they began to meet in public, in the public buildings of Rome, the basilicas. They met there because of the numbers of believers had grown to such size that their previous meeting places in private homes and in the catacombs were no longer sufficient. The robes of the Catholic priests of Rome were patterned off of the vestments worn by Roman officals when they were conducting their official duties. They were appropriated by the priests and bishops of Rome to the offering of liturgical sacrifice (the Mass) and as a sign that the Christian piesthood had replaced the old Roman, pagan priesthood. Evntually, the Chrisrian faith triumphed and Rome became the new Christian capital of the late Roman empire, to such an extent that not even the Roman basilicas fit the number of believers that were coming to participate in Holy Mass, so the first purpose-built churches were built for the faithful.

I was raised a catholic, until…I actually seriously started to read the Bible. We can read in Scriptures that Lord Jesus commanded the Apostles to first preach the Gospel to the Jews, and after also to the Heathen or Gentiles (but never vise versa ! ). I found out in Scriptures who of the Apostles for the first time went to Rome .. and it wasn't Peter. In the Book of Acts it says in Chapter 28 the following: 16 "And when we came to Rome, the Centurion delivered the Prisoners to the Captain of the Guard: but Paul was allowed to live in a house, by himself, with a Roman Soldier that kept him. 17 And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the Chief of the there living Jews together: and when they came together, Paul said to them: "Men and Brethren, though I have committed nothing against our people, our customs, or against our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans 18 who, when they had examined me, would have let me go, because there was no cause of guild in me. 19 But when the Jews spoke against that verdict, I was constrained to appeal unto Caesar; not that I had made any accusations against my Nation. 20 For this Hope (the Gospel of Jesus Christ) therefore I have called for you, to see you, and to speak with you: because for the Hope of Israel I am bound with these chains. 21 The Chief of the Jews said to Paul: "We neither received letters out of Judaea concerning you, neither any of the Brethren that came from there shewed or spoke any harm of you. 22 But we desire to hear of you what you think: for concerning this sect, we know that it is spoken against everywhere". The Roman catholic church claims that it was Peter who went to Rome first to preach the Gospel there first and that it was Peter who founded the catholic church there. Question: who lies? God,... or the Roman catholic church ? And what about the Letter in the Bible from Paul to the Congregation of Galatians where it says this in Chapter 2? From verse 7 we read the following: 7 "But on the contrary, when they saw that the Gospel of the Uncircumcision (Gentiles) was committed unto me, as the Gospel of the Circumcision (Jews) was unto Peter; 8 for He that gave Peter power effectively to the Apostleship of the circumcision (again: the Jews), the Same was Mighty in me toward the Gentiles. 9 And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the Grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we (that are Paul and Barnabas) should go unto the Heathen, and they unto the Circumcision. Again dear catholics: who lies? God’s Word, or the Roman catholic church? Bible, the book of Acts, Chapter 5, verse 29 : Then Peter and the other Apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey GOD - rather than man” !! Since the Roman catholic 'church' claims to be well-read on scriptures, then please point me in the direction of where in the Bible it says to pray to a woman, or with a rosary praising Mary, or to dead “saints.” Lord Jesus calls every believer Saints which all are who received the Holy Spirit and confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord - so Rome has no authority appointing only some people saint - that is ludicrous. Please show me the name ‘pope’ in the Bible? Please show me where it says to call any mortal sinful man (the pope) your father. Please show me where the Bible says anything about purgatory, or paying indulgences (buying yourself into heaven - is God corrupt ?). Please show me where Mary was sinless? Why is it that catholics worship Mary still as a virgin when Lord Jesus had half brothers and half sisters? Mark 6 : 3 "Is this not the Carpenter, the Son of Mary, AND BROTHER OF JAMES, JOSES, JUDAS, AND SIMON? And are not HIS SISTERS here with us?” Matthew 13 : 55-56 "Is this not the Carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And HIS BROTHERS JAMES, JOSES, SIMON, AND JUDAS? AND HIS SISTERS, are they not all with us?" Please show me where it says to confess your sins to a fellow sinful man so that he may forgive them? Where does the Bible say the pope is the “vicar of Christ” on earth - how can a sinful man be te replacer of Christ on earth? That is blasphemy ! Show me where it says that a preacher must be unmarried? It was the pagan ROMAN Emperor Constantine (306 - 337 AD) who was in fact the first “pope” who hijacked the first Christian Communion in Rome founded by the apostle Paul, and he didn't allow for the common people to have Bible Scriptures...to keep believers ignorant to stay in power, as the Catholic Church still tries to do. Later pope’s started the ‘inquisition’ because the book printing machine was invented and people like Martin Luther and William Tyndale could spread the Bible in printed form to the common people: they were persecuted by Rome and many of them burned to dead for that by decree of Rome, and so were hundreds others who did the same as they denounced the FALSE doctrines of Rome. Rome called them heretics and witches while they murdered Christians who loved Jesus and true Scriptures. THESE ARE HISTORICAL FACTS. PLEASE GET OUT OF THIS FALSE CHURCH !!! The Roman catholic “church” is a continuation of the old Roman PAGAN Empire: it never went away as it disguised itself as a Christian Church. The pope, cardinals and bishops wear a Mitre - which odd head dress comes from the old pagan Rome priests representing a FISH BEAK god (I suggest you search for that). Read Revelation, Chapter 17: verse 7, 8 and 9…Read also Revelation 18 to see what God will do to this “church.”

Hi Caleb, peace be with you. I don't really know WHY I'm sticking my head above the parapet here - some of your words, and those of your subscribers, are very feisty. I never reply to anything lke this but I just felt driven. I am a 61 year old born into the Catholic faith. After spending 40 years as a die hard atheist (having turned away from the church in my late teens) I was called to follow Jesus 18 months ago and haven't looked back. Even though I don't particularly feel strongly about the Catholic religion, I feel incredibly strongly about my faith. That is, quite simply, my love of God, my passion for Jesus. Unfortunately, I can no sooner walk away from my Catholic roots that fly to the moon. I don't wholeheartedly agree with Rome, but that's organised religion for you. I trust my heart, the teachings of Jesus and the guidance I receive from God. For example; I don't consider WORKS as something that acts like a spiritual 'passport' into heaven. One should surely be practicing works simply as a daily way of life. Living life offering support, help and good deeds wherever needed. Surely we, as Christians, should all be living that way regardless of religion? I don't think it benefits anyone to profess faith in Christ but then maybe foster mean-spiritedness at times as well. Vitriolic discourse is hurtful and destructive. I once read of someone having a NDE, and they asked the guide they met which was the best religion. The response was: the religion that brings you closest to God. Irrespective of whence it came, I found that very profound. I think you could be an amazing teacher of scripture, you are passionate and have immense knowledge. Instead your posts seem to generate ill will and discord among subscribers. In today's world more than ever, I believe people should unite and pray together for God's guidance. Please can people not reply if your thoughts are not from the heart. I am a Catholic and worship only God. I accept Jesus as my saviour and have no false idols. Everything all of us do is for God, and by his design - which is I guess why I wrote this message instead of just clicking away. Caleb, I love you and want nothing but the best in life for you, but please try to be be less judgemental. That said,we are all a work in progress. Take care and God bless, Cat ✝️

In chapter one of Revelation, there is an image of the universal church, Christ standing in the midst of seven candlesticks. Not the Pope, but Christ. The Pope is nowhere to be found. Then, in chapters two and three, seven churches are referenced, which represent the universal church in John's day and throughout history, even prophetically setting out the church ages in history, until John is caught up to heaven to witness the tribulation. But Rome is not mentioned. Rome simply has no significance in representing the church in Revelation. No Pope and no Roman Church in representing the true Christian church.

And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatever you shall bind on earth shall be bound, even in heaven. And whatever you shall release on earth shall be released, even in heaven." Peter was the leader of all apostles and the first Pope. →The very first time Jesus met Simon (John 1:42), Jesus gave him a new name, "Peter" or "Cephas" (Aramaic), which was not a name, but a title, literally meaning, "rock". In Matthew 16:18, in the presence of the other Apostles, Jesus says, "You are Peter (which means rock), and on this rock I will build my church". →Jesus goes on to give Peter alone the keys (v. 19), "I will give you (Peter) the keys of the kingdom and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven, whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in Heaven", continuing the succession of the office of chief steward in the line of David (Isaiah 22:20-23). In John 21:17, Peter alone is singled out and made shepherd, instructed by Jesus to "feed my sheep". →It was Peter alone who received the revelation when Jesus asked, "Who do men say that I am?" (Matthew 16:17), Peter responded with a divine revelation, "You are the Christ, son of the living God". →Jesus prays for Peter specifically, "that your faith may not fail, and you, when once you have turned again, will strengthen your brethren" (Luke 22:32). →Peter is almost always listed by name first (Mark 16:7), and mentioned as "Peter and the rest of the Apostles" (Acts 2:37). →Peter is primarily the one to declare decrees (Acts 15:7) showing obvious leadership among the apostles. Peter alone is given the keys of the Kingdom. History accounts his authority over the universal church, handed down to his successors. How could anyone suggest that Peter wasn't given any special authority separate from the other Apostles? And where are these "keys" today?

The New Testament does talk about a plurality of bishops or elders being appointed in various churches. However, this system did not last for long. Already by the end of the 2nd century, the norm was having a single bishop in each church. We need to understand the question of single bishop or plurality of bishops properly. The New Testament does not ordain an unchangeable rule that there ought to be a plurality of bishops in each church. In the New Testament, appointment of bishops was not a matter of doctrine affecting our salvation, but a matter of administration or governance which can be changed from time to time. That is what exactly happened in the course of time. Therefore, it is quite hilarious, nay foolish, to say that the office of the bishop in the Catholic Church is unbiblical. It is also false to claim that the New Testament requires every bishop or elder to be a married person as though marriage were compulsory. What the New Testament requires is that if a bishop is a married person, he should have only one wife.

It is really simple. Paul was the Apostle, not Pope, to the Gentiles. Peter was an Apostle, not Pope, to the Jews. So how can, even if there was such a thing as Pope to the Gentiles from Rome, come from Peter? The mental gymnastics to do this are out of this world. Is the Pope faithless? Yes? How do I know? Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. If so, how can he have faith in something not given? Faith is being sure of what we hope for. What we hope for, in its entirety, is only given in scripture. So again, where is this communication of hope for the pope. It certainly does not come from God's word. The only way to do something without God's approval is to create it in pride. So now we know the the Pope is both faithless and proud. It should not be rocket science to work this out from God's word. Lastly, you should be able to understand from God's word that God never sanctions central control and certainly not on a global scale. Only pride would cause a man to want to take such a big undertaking that God has never ever commissioned. This are really simple things to work out. Anyone who is a so called influencer and speaks as an apologist of the Pope are also faithless, proud and are only full of truth suppressing false systematic doctrine. You will notice none of them are able to lead the Christian into the fruits of the Holy Spirit or maturity in Christ. You really need to avoid their channels.

The 12 Apostles were commissioned by Christ to spread Christianity, and what did they do? They ordained successors as bishops and further, when the first Pope Peter died, they elected a successor - St Linus (~ 67 - 78AD). And when the second Pope Linus died the bishops elected another pope (3rd), St Anacletus (c 79 - 88AD). And so on and so on which is why we have a list of Popes going back to the first century and Peter. St Clement … (88 - 99AD) … 4th pope, Iraneous (c. 130 - 202 AD) was a Greek bishop who noted (AD 180) that the apostles continued to ordain bishops to the episcopate. So, the history of what the apostles and their immediate successors did show that an episcopate was established in the first century with the apostles along with the office of pope. Matthew 16:18-19 shows that Peter was given the keys and the authority to bind and loose. Also John 20:21 “21 Once more Jesus said to them, Peace be upon you; I came upon an errand from my Father, and now I am sending you out in my turn. 22 With that, he breathed on them, and said to them, Receive the Holy Spirit; 23 when you forgive men’s sins, they are forgiven, when you hold them bound, they are held bound.” The Catholic Church along with history of the pope and episcopate and the priesthood -- is as understood by the early Church and traces its roots to the first century and the 12 apostles.

Playing the advocate here... but Ignatius was simply exhorting the brethren to submit to "the bishop." By saying "the bishop" he is just identifying what he knew, not giving preference to a singular or a plurality of bishops. I think it's very possible there we're churches with just one bishop.

Many Catholic doctrines are not biblical but they’re not damnable either. Just very unfortunate many are blind to the truth because they don’t study the scriptures for themselves, but rather believe in man made doctrines rooted in rituals and traditions. “Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.” Colossians 2:8 NKJV “‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ” Matthew 15:8-9 NKJV

Jesus said to his Apostles right before he ascended that he was not going to return until he came back in his glory to judge. Fiducia Supplicans quote/excerpts “…the Church does not have the power to impart blessings on unions of persons of the same sex.” Part 1.5 I. The Blessing in the Sacrament of Marriage 4. Pope Francis’ recent response to the second of the five questions posed by two Cardinals[4] offers an opportunity to explore this issue further, especially in its pastoral implications. It is a matter of avoiding that “something that is not marriage is being recognized as marriage.”[5] Therefore, rites and prayers that could create confusion between what constitutes marriage-which is the “exclusive, stable, and indissoluble union between a man and a woman, naturally open to the generation of children”[6]-and what contradicts it are inadmissible. This conviction is grounded in the perennial Catholic doctrine of marriage; it is only in this context that sexual relations find their natural, proper, and fully human meaning. The Church’s doctrine on this point remains firm. II. The Meaning of the Various Blessings 11. Basing itself on these considerations, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith’s Explanatory Note to its 2021 Responsum recalls that when a blessing is invoked on certain human relationships by a special liturgical rite, it is necessary that what is blessed corresponds with God’s designs written in creation and fully revealed by Christ the Lord. For this reason, since the Church has always considered only those sexual relations that are lived out within marriage to be morally licit, the Church does not have the power to confer its liturgical blessing when that would somehow offer a form of moral legitimacy to a union that presumes to be a marriage or to an extra-marital sexual practice. Vatican News article 1-24-24 headline reads “Pope Francis: Bless the persons, not the union” Later in the document with further details of this language he stated “Not the union,” the Pope stressed, “but the persons, naturally taking into account the context, sensitivities, the places where one lives, and the most appropriate ways to do it.”

If the Catholic church is not the original church then please explain why ALL Bible believing people receive their rule of faith, the Bible, from her, the Bride of Christ… History shows us that Jesus didn't leave us a bible, - the apostles didn't tell us which books belong in the bible, - the church fathers never agreed on the 27 books of the NT through the 4th century and ONLY the 27 books, - not only did they not agree but their individual lists of would-be NT canons were GROWING during this time, growing in numbers of hundreds of “inspired” NT writings. Therefore, if it wasn't the Catholic/Orthodox church that compiled the 27 books of the NT in the 5th century with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and preserved it by laboriously hand copying them over and over throughout the centuries before the invention of the printing press, the “rule of faith” for many, please tell us who did? And if this church no longer exists today, what good is the text which came forth from her if she couldn't sustain herself?
