Really love where this is going! I am learning to not berate myself when I am in early-mid layers, you do this beautifully. I struggle out wanting every layer to be pretty and that is way too much pressure and not realistic! I am enjoying your videos so much!

Hi Heather…thank you so much for watching my video & I’m so glad it’s helpful. Okay sweetie..no berating allowed!!! I totally get that feeling of just wanting everything to be “perfect” & pretty etc…but what really allowed me to change my mindset is (especially in the first layers) to play, let go and be in “beginner’s mind”. Welcome to my channel…I’m so glad you’re here 😊

I'm loving this series and just got some more journals to try art journalling alongside you. I've been playing around with one for the past few days, but I have a technical question: how do you keep the pages from sticking? I found candle wax works well over acrylic and when completely done, but what about if it is dry but you aren't sure if you are done? Or what about with oil pastels, etc, which smear with wax? I have a varnish, but again, that seems like a last step rather than a middle of project solution

Hi there…thank you so much for following along…I appreciate that and hope it’s helpful. As for sticky pages😳 aaaaah…I used to have terrible issues with it then I switched from *gloss* mod Podge to *matte* and that helped tremendously, I think, because I don’t have issues with it anymore. A few suggestions… *you can use wax paper, parchment paper (just regular stuff you use for baking) and cut it to size and stick it in between your pages. A cheap composition book will suffice as well (rip out the pages and stick them in your art journal) *there are various fixatives & if you want to use it in your mid layers, there’s *workable fixative*…so you can poly and allow to dry and then work over top. Or regular fixative to use at the very end. I tend not to use fixative because it flattens the colors. *as for oil pastels…if I’m using it in my early layers, I seal it with a couple coats of Mod Podge but for my last layers I tend to just leave it alone and if it smudges, it’s minimal and doesn’t bother me. I have a few specific journals I want to pass onto my daughter but most of my working journals are just that. Hope this helps a bit?

It is amazing how certain colors added can change the whole tone of the pages. I loved the brighter orange you added and also the peachy color you created. Also, the cashew really helped as well. I’m learning a lot. I’m looking forward to your next video in the series. Thank you so much for sharing.

@@patriciadistefano7467thanks so much for following along, Patricia! Yes…one color can change the entire piece & even if it doesn’t, it can lead to another colour that may! Happy creating 😊

@@sorayanulliah it worked! I had some matte gel medium and I tried it and the sticking mostly went away! Thank you! I actually like some of the wax pages so I might try that again on waterproof layers, but the matte medium worked where the glossy medium did not!
