As a Muslim scholar, I must respectfully disagree with many of the claims and interpretations presented in this critique of Quranic scientific miracles. While I appreciate the effort to critically examine religious texts, I believe this analysis misrepresents Islamic teachings and oversimplifies complex theological and scientific issues. Let me address some of the key points: Embryology in the Quran: The Quranic description of embryonic development should be understood in its historical and linguistic context. While it's true that Greek philosophers like Aristotle and Galen made significant contributions to embryology, the Quranic account offers unique insights: The term "alaqah" used in the Quran (23:14) has multiple meanings, including "leech-like", "suspended thing", and "blood clot". Modern embryology has shown that the early embryo does indeed resemble a leech in shape and its attachment to the uterine wall. The Quran's description of the "mudghah" stage as "chewed-like" accurately reflects the somite pairs that form in the embryo, giving it an appearance similar to teeth marks in chewed substance. While it's true that bone and muscle formation overlap, the Quranic description of bones being clothed with flesh (23:14) can be understood as a simplified explanation of a complex process, focusing on the visible appearance of the embryo's development. The Big Bang in the Quran: The interpretation of Surah 21:30 as referring to the Big Bang is not universally accepted among Islamic scholars. However, the verse does present a concept of the universe's origins that aligns with modern cosmological theories: The idea of the heavens and earth being "joined together" before being "separated" does bear some resemblance to the concept of the universe expanding from a singularity. While this verse alone doesn't prove divine origin, it presents a cosmological view that was not common in 7th century Arabia. Water and Life: The Quranic emphasis on water as essential for life (21:30) goes beyond simply observing that living things need water. It presents water as the origin of all living things, which aligns with modern scientific understanding of life's origins in aqueous environments. Iron from the Heavens: The Quranic verse about iron being "sent down" (57:25) can be interpreted metaphorically or literally. If taken literally, it aligns with the scientific fact that iron on Earth originated from supernovae. While ancient cultures may have associated iron with the heavens, the Quranic verse presents this in the context of a broader discussion about the purpose and uses of iron, suggesting a more comprehensive understanding. Mountains as Pegs: The Quranic description of mountains as pegs (78:6-7) is more nuanced than simply stating mountains have roots. It suggests a stabilizing function, which, while not exactly matching modern plate tectonic theory, does reflect an understanding of the Earth's crust that was not common knowledge in 7th century Arabia. Stars as Missiles: The verses describing stars as missiles (67:5) should be understood in their context. Many scholars interpret this as referring to meteors or shooting stars, not actual stars. This interpretation doesn't contradict modern astronomical knowledge. Human Reproduction: The Quranic verse about the origin of reproductive fluids (86:5-7) uses the term "between the backbone and the ribs", which some scholars interpret as referring to the entire trunk of the body, including the reproductive organs. This interpretation aligns with the fact that embryonic gonads develop in the dorsal wall of the abdomen. Hadith on Child Resemblance: The hadith about child resemblance based on which parent's discharge comes first is not considered a scientific explanation but rather a simplified way of addressing the question of heredity in terms that 7th century Arabs could understand. Sex Determination: The hadith about an angel determining the sex of a baby should be understood in a spiritual context, not as a scientific explanation. It doesn't contradict the biological process of sex determination but speaks to the belief in divine involvement in human creation. Hygiene and Medical Advice: The hadiths about flies and camel urine should be understood in their historical and cultural context. Modern research has shown that some fly species do carry antimicrobial substances, and camel urine has been found to have some medicinal properties. However, these hadiths are not considered universal medical prescriptions in Islamic thought. Adam's Height: The hadith about Adam's height is considered by many scholars to be allegorical, not literal. It may be understood as emphasizing human potential and spiritual stature rather than physical size.

These statistics indicate that this Qur'an is from Allah and that humans cannot produce anything like it. Some words have been repeated a number of times for a divine wisdom: Reward (Jazaa): 117 | Forgiveness (Maghfirah): 234 Meaning double. Why? Because Allah's mercy and forgiveness encompass all things. Difficulty (Usr): 12 | Ease (Yusr): 36 Meaning 3 times. Why? Because two eases will never be overcome by one difficulty. Some important observations from the statistics: The word (Salah) (prayer) is mentioned 5 times, and the prayers are 5 times a day. The word (Yawm) (day) is mentioned 365 times, and there are 365 days in a year. Among the divine miracles in the Qur'an: The word (Ard) (earth) is mentioned 13 times, and (Bahr) (sea) is mentioned 32 times. If we try to find the percentage of repetition for both words, we find that the word (Bahr) occurs 71% of the time, while the word (Ard) occurs 29%, which corresponds to the actual ratio of seas to land on our planet's surface.

The bible actually does have scientific miracles. In Revelations 21:15-21 12 gemstones are used to build the new Jerusalem. “The first was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst.” The property that these gems share is that their crystal structure is anisotropic. When you observe anisotropic crystals with a microscope using cross polarised light the show all the colours of the rainbow, whereas isotopic crystals like diamond or ruby behave like a polarising filter meaning at certain angles, cross polarised light would make them appear black. Nobody knew about this phenomenon until centuries later and John the apostle sure as heck didn’t know about it either
@rightousnesspursuer65232 ай бұрын

Here in India online Mulims claim two 'scientific theories' in Quran. First is Embryology and second is - Muhammad predicted that deep ocean is dark! 😂
@robertdegroot8302Ай бұрын
Embryology: You really should have pointed out that in embryology, only the sperm is mentioned. No EGG! Exactly what we'd expect from a fool. Waterbasis of life: firstly, it is wrong because Quran says Jinn are made from (smokeless) fire, so not water. This is because the water verse is not referring to water, but to 'fluid'. It's trying to say life is made from sexual fluid, i.e. sperm. Iron: most iron does not come from meteorites. More importantly, when Quran speaks of 'sending down' something, it doesnt refer to meteorites from space. It just means it's a gift from Allah up in heaven. It also says cattle and clothing were 'sent down'. By the way: when discussing scientific miracles and blunders in Quran, better restrict yourself to use Quran only. Hadith are easily dismissed by Muslims. There are lots of verses to show the earth is flat with the sun circling around it.
@kyoungdАй бұрын
Embryology. Good point. Water: This is repeat of the "Primordial Water" creation myth, where water was there before the creation. The Qur'an also mentions that Allah's throne was upon water before creation. Iron: The Qur'an states that God "sent down" iron, as well as other things like kettles. Following this interpretation, one could say that cows were also "sent down" from space.

Actually, the claim that there are "no scientific miracles in the Quran" overlooks both the Quran’s approach to scientific knowledge and the limitations of interpreting ancient texts through only a modern lens. The Quran’s language and imagery are not intended to be a science textbook but to guide, inspire, and encourage reflection, using terms understandable in both the past and present. Each point mentioned, if thoughtfully examined, doesn’t debunk the Quran’s statements but shows how complex knowledge has been understood by different cultures and times. For example, embryology as described in Surah 23:12-14 isn’t meant to “copy” Aristotle or Galen, as the speaker suggests, but describes stages that align broadly with what science later confirmed. Many ancient thinkers had theories, but the Quran’s description aligns remarkably well with what we know now, and it stands out in its poetic accuracy for a 7th-century text. On the creation of the universe, Surah 21:30 mentions the heavens and earth once being a single entity, which was then “parted.” This is not merely copying Genesis but speaks of a “oneness” that scientists only began to theorize with the concept of the Big Bang. And when the Quran says, “We made every living thing from water,” it conveys a fundamental truth of biology, discovered centuries later-that water is essential to all life. To assume that desert dwellers had such insight without revelation strains credibility. Saying Aristotle also observed life’s connection to water doesn’t negate the Quranic reference, especially since the Quran’s statement isn’t just a passing observation but an affirmation of a scientific fact that stands the test of time. As for the Quran mentioning “iron sent down from the heavens” (Surah 57:25), this aligns with scientific knowledge that iron came to Earth via meteorites. Yes, the ancients may have referred to iron as “heavenly metal,” but the Quran makes a clear, deliberate statement that iron was “sent down.” This kind of specific phrasing resonates with modern understanding that iron is indeed extraterrestrial in origin. Claiming that such a detail doesn’t qualify as insightful or remarkable ignores the precision in the language chosen. The video mentions that the Quran’s description of mountains as “pegs” (Surah 78:6-7) is not miraculous. But consider: the fact that mountains do have “roots” that extend into the Earth’s crust was only scientifically confirmed centuries after the Quran’s revelation. True, Job 28:9 or Psalm 18:7 in the Bible refer to mountains metaphorically, but the Quran’s term “pegs” directly relates to the modern geological fact that mountains stabilize the Earth’s crust. No ancient text spoke of mountain “roots” in such a stabilizing context until modern geology verified it. Regarding the Quran’s mention of stars as missiles for devils (Surah 67:5), this is often misunderstood. The Quran’s descriptions use metaphorical and symbolic language, not scientific slang, to convey deeper truths and principles. This symbolic style is seen throughout ancient texts, including the Bible, where poetic language describes events in ways that aren’t literal, but deeply meaningful to readers across ages. The claim that the Quran’s view on reproduction is inaccurate ignores that terms like “between the loins and the ribs” (Surah 86:5-7) are general descriptions for locations, not scientific terms. Similarly, the hadith about Adam’s height or camel urine is not part of the Quran’s message, nor is it central to Islamic belief. To take these literally and then use them to undermine Islam is like taking isolated statements from other religious texts and claiming they define the entire belief system. No where in the Quran does it say to "drink camel urine." The prophet just used camel urine once as a medicine to help someone feel better. Even today, scientists use camel urine in some medications that we use because it's effective. The video’s final comments about “miracles” being more like “errors” reveal a misunderstanding about the purpose of scripture. The Quran’s references are worded to offer insights while remaining timeless, inviting deeper understanding as science advances. Miraculous or not, the Quran’s statements, revealed centuries ago, align well with modern knowledge, which is worth thoughtful consideration rather than ridicule.

1:00 Perhaps more importantly, the Quran makes no mention of the fertilization of the ovum by spermatazoa, which other ancient scientists didn't know about either. It seems to reflect the idea that babies are made directly from semen, a common misconception in ancient embryology. Something similar can be seen in Surah at-Tariq ayah 6. Of course, semen simply carries the spermatazoa which themselves develop into embryos, but ancient scientists seemed to believe that humans are basically just hardened semen.

The Quran is not a book of science. The quran gives very concise descriptions about many scientific phenomena. Also, the Quran uses the arabic word مصابيح in chapter 67 verse 5. The word مصابيح means lantern i.e. any source of light. So the Quran cannot be restricted in the meaning of that word to just refer to stars. This therefore makes it evident that the Quran did not get the terminology wrong as meteorites can also be a source of light as it experiences friction upon entry into the earths atmosphere although it (the Quran) is concise and does not focus on science

As a christian who has studied the Quran, I must say that the strongest piece of evidence FOR it is the way that it is written. Islam claims that Muhammed couldn't read or write, and while that may be false, it doesn't change how absolutely beautifully written the Quran is. If you could make a video on the linguistic structure of the Quran, that would probably be the slam dunk for anyone who has read it with sincerity.

@idi32842 ай бұрын
I could perhaps shed some light on this. Since you have studied the Quran, you likely are aware that many of the stories found in it are plagiarized. Well, this also accounts for a lot of the Quran’s “beauty”, many beautiful passages from it are just reskinned Christian hymns about Jesus, ironic right? And on a personal note, as someone who has also studied the Quran, even buying and reading part of a physical copy, its not all that beautiful. About 99% passages consist of “X is among the wrongdoers, and surely a most grievous punishment awaits them.” or “Allah is the most X and the All-Y (99 times over)” And for the little parts of the Quran that could possibly be original, the “eloquence” just sounds like an 8th grader trying to do an impression of an English aristocrat, you can so obviously tell Muhammed was trying to use big words and fancy phrases where they add nothing to the text. There is even a Hadith where Muhammed says that he has been blessed with eloquent speech, so we can infer from this he was already somewhat known for his unique style of language, not exactly hard to translate those skills into your “revelations”. Lastly, even if the Quran really was more beautiful and brilliantly eloquent than any human can do (which its not), it can easily be explained as the work of a fallen angel, evil spiritual beings with far greater knowledge and skill than us. Consider the voice we hear from the one TRUE God in the Bible, it is firm, still, and plain, God feels NO need to impress us with fancy words and poetics, when he speaks in first person in the bible, its always in a way the reader can understand, firm, commanding, yet still and plain. Only Satan and his minions feel the need to flaunt with poetics. Hope this helps.
@KadeKreuger2 ай бұрын
Let me be clear, I am not talking about the use of big words, anyone can write big words. But if you look at the Quran in arabic, there are many beautifully written verses that are read the same both forwards and backwards, and has many other amazing literary features which Muhammed did not call attention to, it was only when it was studied many years later that these things were discovered. As for the argument of the Quran perhaps being the work of a demon collaborating with humans, this IS possible, but not at all conclusive. Let's not take away from an interesting discussion by dismissing it as "satanic" without any solid proof.

@@Petru-r9b The copying process for the gospels was completely decentralised, and our earliest manuscripts are exceedingly early compared to other documents from the classical era (we have gospel fragments from the second century and complete copies from the third century). And countless citations of the gospels in the writings of the Church Fathers. This means that any major alteration would have to have been made extremely early on for text critics to detect it. Something as major as "Jesus didn't really die" would have to have been edited out in the first generation of copies for all four gospels. If you want to look for more information on this there's an old Mike Winger playlist called evidence for the Bible and several of the videos deal with this. Or you can read James White's book The King James Only Controversy which is a good introduction to text criticism. Muslims making this claim are basically contradicting their own scripture. The Quran repeatedly claims that the Christians of Mohammed's day have authentic scriptures called the Injeel (the Arabic version of the Greek word for gospel). And that Christians should judge Mohammed's message by how well it measures up to that. Since we have so many copies that pre-date Mohammed we know for a fact that the gospel text the Christians of 7th century Arabia had was the same text that we have today. Watch any video on the Islamic Dilemma for more info on this.
