My father (RIP) was a tinsmith and jack of all trades and used to do the very same thing as repairing pots and whatever like in the vid. He kept the bits and pieces of trimmings (aluminum) and sell them as scrap (to be recycled) years later. He never bought clothes for himself, relying instead on New Year gifts/promo shirts given by Chinese-owned business establishments or hand-me-downs from my adult brothers. The things he couldn't repair, he repurposed. The things he couldn't repurpose, he neatly kept (not the same as the hoarders in the west) just in case he might find a purpose for them in the future. When he was 13, he fed an older sister, 4 half-siblings, and his stepmother by selling snacks wherever he can walk from dusk til dawn during the world war 2 Japanese occupation of the Philippines. When he was able to afford to buy a bicycle, he made sure to attach baskets (repurposed containers) onto the bike and his idea of a joy ride was buying whatever from anywhere and selling them in other places.

Dinosaurs are a hoax put in place to further the narrative that we will run out of oil so they can raise the price; false scarcity. - 0 intact dinosaur bones or skeletons found - 0 dinosaur skulls found - No transitional fossils - Dating fossils by rock layers and dating rock layers by fossils is circular reasoning - You can’t carbon date fossils; they’re stone. - Radiocarbon Dating is bunk - 100% of dinosaur bones are fake - You'll never be able to see dino bones because they're supposedly radioactive, which is an obvious lie - Engineers say dinosaur legs would buckle under the proportions and their insides would fall out based on the engineering of their rib cage - They want you thinking "an asteroid can wipe us out at any time, now give us money" - Evolution was pushed by a eugenicist who married his 1st cousin. - Dinos invented by royal society in 1841 by liar Richard Owen - Only people with a financial interest find dino bones, which are really smashed up chicken bones. - There are no dino discoveries before the 1800s. Not suspicious at all. - 66 Million years ago - You cant prove the earth was around 66 million years ago

My parents had a huge custom made aluminum kettle with a 1mm hole in the bottom. I fixed it with some low temp aluminum rod and torch. I would have welded up this hole and worry about the thin bottom if it becomes a problem Later. That said…. He did what he could with what was available and I love it.
@kindabluejazz
@kindabluejazz Жыл бұрын
So you would prefer to repair it two times instead of once. And when 'later' comes and the bottom needs replacement, what would you have done, other than 'worry' about it? His experience told him it would not last much longer, so he took care of it the way people like him have done it for thousands of years. Why not just admit that you don't have the experience and skills this guy has.

@kindabluejazz
@kindabluejazz Жыл бұрын
@@joshuahaught4812 He explicitly said he would have done it differently - that's a dismissal of the work done. He then ended with a back-handed compliment, excusing the old man because he didn't have the right tools available, when in fact, he did have perfectly fine tools. He did more than apply a lazy band-aid as suggested, and he made the pot as good as new. Welding a hole in that ultra thin remaining bottom would have been a terrible idea, and the old man knew that.
