The one thing I'm starting to realize through watching these chaos videos is that there is a big difference in mindset between "What will make this mission take as long as possible" and "What will make this mission as chaotic as possible." Chat seems to be gravitating towards the former more often than not.

Yes, and it makes total sense because Matt's a speedrunner, he's been through this game hundreds of times without difficulty, and we've seen it hundreds of times before. So it's much more interesting for viewers to create obstacles themselves (even insurmountable ones) and see how Matt passes or fails to pass them. The maximum chaos was created by the Rainbomizer Mod, but the season with it alone was not as successful as Chaos, which proves my point.

Although you have a point and the footage could be more interesting if chat picked other effects, I think this is more of a problem in the cut videos than the stream and uncut videos. Part of the enjoyment is to see matto suffer. I agree with other commenters that suicide and other effects that result in instant death may seem kind of lame but the enjoyment you can get if matto, after 1h of gameplay is almost finally able to complete a 3km drive just to get insta killed has a comedic value. The cut videos are imp not able to catch the suffering part well enough for it to be funny

That's because the previous one he has is a Custom made version. From the coding side of things, the options this one contains are some really unique features I've never seen before and I would love to get in contact with the creator but sadly the creator lef the modding scene about 4 months ago. The UI doesn't exactly look the best on this one sure but sadly nothing will be able to be edited to this since the project was never open-source so only the main creator can use it

@@_XRMissie (sorry for long comment) As someone who has had gta 5 since 2013 I can definitely tell you that while yes it was still bad back then the problem is nowadays it is literally impossible for players to do anything in public lobbies because the toxic pay to win players run around killing literally everything that moves and the funny part is that a lot of them don’t even know how to make money most of the time. Because they’ve been buying shark cards as their only source of money for so many years that they are simultaneously the richest players in the game sometimes but also the least productive players because they’ve probably never actually done anything like heists and all that without being carried by better players and yet they act like they are worth more than other players because they have a high KD and constantly try to argue that gta is a PvP focused game when it’s clearly a PvE focused game. Even when you do see them in a heist or something they try to argue that you should give them the highest pay out because they have a high shooting stat or driving skill when literally everyone else in the heist has max stats and is significantly higher level than them. It’s also the fact that 10+ years ago we didn’t have things to do in free roam like business stuff. So people had to actually do missions to make money which ment the toxic players had less people to kill in free roam. But the thing that makes it even harder for newer player to succeed is the fact that a lot of the veteran players don’t actually play gta anymore. Because they are either bored of it or tired of putting so much time and effort into everything just to have to deal with the bad players which means the new players have to rely on the toxic players or the dumb players for help. Because the remaining veteran players most of the time are in private games making money and progress and obviously they’ll come back for gta 6 probably but I really hope that gta 6 has a decent system in place for the players that don’t want to turn gta into cod. I could honestly say so much more but I won’t because I don’t want this comment to get any longer really lol.

For anyone that brings up passive mode let me say 2 things. 1. Passive mode used to only make it possible for people to not kill you with guns they could still run you over and stuff like that and if you were in a vehicle the vehicle disabled your passive mode invincibility so you could be shot and blown up but you still couldn’t use your weapons because you were in passive mode. 2. Because passive mode disables your ability to use your weapons and your vehicle’s weapons which even your passengers can’t use weapons while the driver in in passive mode you basically can’t do PvE content while in passive mode because you obviously need your guns to do most of that content.

This might be just me, but I think this chaos mod could be really good but requires multiple optimizations. Some effects could be removed, some could be bettered. The OG chaos was a perfect combination of effects, matt's experience and the game being freaky. This mod, however, is just too much and overshadows both the game and matt. Although some people would like this amount of chaos and it did have some moments where i fell laughing, it is just overwhelming at some points.

I do agree with you somewhat, but I also have to disagree with you elsewhere. For one, some effects are hard to look at. As funny as hell is, it's impossible to look at. On the other hand, the original chaos mod has been polished over time and has been refined by quality of life (qol) changes, and I think that it takes away from, what used to make the chaos mod special. Proportional voting was great at first, but everyone in chat eventually realized that it was super frustrating since 80% of people could be voting for one effect, and the one that had 1% of people voting for it got chosen. The worst it got from my memory is 97% of people voting for one option and it not getting chosen. The other main issue I have with the level of polish is the 3 fail rule. In terms of qol it's undeniably great, it makes you much less likely to get stuck on a certain mission, but it also cuts short effects that are genuinely hilarious. Watching someone get flung into a wall 50 times by full acceleration is hilarious. Seeing it 3 times and having it get cut short 10 seconds in sucks. My point is best shown by what I believe to be the funniest episode of chaos. In season 2 or 3 of chat controls chaos, Matt failed on scouting the port roughly 200 times, and that's the funniest shit ever, and the qol changes that exist now wouldn't have allowed for that to happen.

It seems a lot of people forgot that there's plenty of OG Chaos Mod effects that have been turned off through the years when they complain about this mod having some terrible effects. If the bad effects can be switched off then this could be a great breath of fresh air for the series.

That's the difference. Every now and again, OG Chaos had some effects that got annoying over time, with trial and error over the coming years deciding if they were bad enough to turn off or not. This version is filled with effects that are JUST BAD. They make the game unplayable, they're unwinnable, you can't progress with them on, and at times there's no cap for how many game-breaking effects you can have at a time. And it's not over the years like with OG, either. The LITERAL FIRST EFFECT OF THE SERIES made it so Matto physically could not progress. The creator of OG liked watching Matto suffer because it made the victory that much sweeter when he got it. The creator of this version likes watching Matto suffer because he hates Matto.

Where's unedited chaos ? I love unedited chaos. With unedited chaos (or slighty edited to cut the crashes), you really feel the madness of chat. It's so satisfying and surprising at the same time to see Matto almost complete the mission and getting screwed by the effect and it's even better when you saw it coming with the votes.

Hi Matto, I prefer unedited chaos. It just feel more smooth and chaotic in a sense, the timing of the votes are important. It's extremely satisfying when we see your pain failing every single time at the same checkpoint and hearing the characters dying and dying repeatedly. The repeat is a core part of the fun of watching chaos and edited it remove it entirely. "F's at the bridge across Alta Street" is just iconic of a chaos checkpoint. Plus the game's dialogue really enrich the english vocabulary of a non native english speaker like myself. That's why I'll ask you to brign back unedited chaos please.

I do as well, but I think this chaos mod is also a bit overboard. It's no longer GTAV in a lot of ways, and the mod just intentionally wastes time with things like Tetris and guitar hero. Through the fire and the flames is a SEVEN AND A HALF minute song. If it didn't let him fail they would have just been stuck there watching notes scroll for the better part of 10 minutes. This mod even unedited probably wouldn't have very much flow.

Floating point inaccuracy: all games that use physics and cartesian coordinates store the values as for ex 32bit floating point. This is great since it gives us incredibly accuracy, which is required for physics to be calculated right. If you go sufficiently far away from origo your floating point accuracy suffers and at some point, often around 100km, the inaccuracies are very visible. Think of it this way, is a car suspension is travelling at steps of 10mm, how much velocity is that if it jumps 10mm within one frame? Frame speeds being 60Hz, 120Hz and up.. So the mod is sort of giving you floating point inaccuracy but since we are clearly still close to origo, weare not jumping but sliding, and small things can launch you far away, like when your hitbox touches a wall and the game has to move your character to resolve that obvious paradox, solids can't be inside of each other. It can be that since there is no resolution, the game moves you way too much.. and hilarity ensues. I tested these exact kind of bugs in game engines a decade and a half ago, the results are often hilarious... I still am not absolutely certain how it all works, so don't take what i said to be exactly precise, but it should be reasonably close.
