I was still a Democrat (mostly out of inertia) but I know a charlatan when I see one. I’ll try to be as concise as I can. 1. There are countless forms/variations of antisemitism. It takes a lot of knowledge to be sensitive to them and recognize them. Knowledge of history, including intellectual history, knowledge of religions, their history and ideology, etc. are central. And yes, it takes years to learn. 2. It really matters what are a person’s upbringing, education and ETHICS. This all decides, among many other things, how a person contributes to society, how participates in political process, etc. I have to present myself briefly. Foreign born, close to ultimate tragedies of the last century (including the father’s loss of entire family), LIVED in two entirely different countries, each with different dominant form of antisemitism, was raised by decent Jewish parents, had two difficult emigrations. Highly educated, each discipline with a significant component of history or pure history. Added to the collection of degrees a late masters in Jewish history, focused on antisemitism. This is background to the main topic. We bring ourselves to each situation. Naturally, I brought myself to Michael Douglas. This what heard: “I am Jewish. I know that some Bible says that Jews define themselves matrilineally, but my neighbor, a Hollywood star, said that this is wrong. So, I entered the Reform “Judaism” building and thus became a Jew. Whom would you trust? Some Bible or a Hollywood preschool dropout? Now, as a Jew, I can, siting in my bunker at my castle on my private island dictate all these inferior ignorant Israelis whom should they elect, what their priorities should be (-#metoozobmie, metooloveantifa, #metoolovehamas etc.) and whom they must to love dearly (primarily, ISIS, HAMAS, mullahs.) To ensure that my beloved brothers and sisters in Israel behave appropriately and die without some inappropriate embarrassing incidents I support financially and promote those who know how to proceed. dr anna

I cannot stand interviewers like her that start and harp on the issue of potential backlash. It's not only negative, but it echos a Jewish attitude of "staying quiet, don't be noticed." Jews in Hollywood should stand-up, especially the ones with clout. Do you really think Michael Douglas would be afraid, especially at this stage of his life? Jerry Seinfeld was about the first. I think it's deplorable that Jews in all sectors of the Hollywood industry do not use their collective voices. Jews of any age should stand-up. Integrity and modicum of courage is more important.
