Hey Ahlam. You may have seen some information about the origin of the song. There are a few on the group with really great background history of Lara Fabian, in particular Eric Sicard. This song was not written by her but her performance lets one linger on that fact in the way she performance it. She is absolutley incredible...bringing all the emotions to the table, one can , like, virtually re-live that moment in time. Lara Fabian is, in my personal opnion, incomparable. I've respected, enjoyed, and admired many singers. Only two stopped me in my tracks the first time I heard them: Sarah Vaughan and then Lara Fabian. I like the kind of music Fabian puts out more than I like the jazz that Vaughan was such a master of so I've only ever found myself being a fanatic fan of Fabian. She hits my neural net like liquid velvet. The first & only soprano who not only doesn't make my contralto-tuned self wince in discomfort but who makes me melt into a puddle of sonic happiness. The song was written by one of the greatest Italian singer-songwriters, Lucio Dalla, and is about Caruso, an opera singer one of the most famous in the world, who was shipwrecked with his ship in front of Sorrento and had to stay in a hotel in front of the Gulf of Sorrento. He was in love with one of his students and the song talks about this and after a while he died on his way to America to do some concerts

This song was written in 1986 by its first singer, Lucio Dalla, who stayed in the same hotel room of Grand Hotel Excelsior Vittoria, Sorrento where the world famous tenor Enrico Caruso stayed in 1921 with his 20 years younger wife and his 3 years old daughter. Caruso was sick on his lungs and tried to improve his condition. When he was on his way from there to his pulmonologist in Rome, he died in Naples. The song was elected second most beautiful Italian song known worldwide in 2008 (second just to Nel blu dipinto di blu = Volare) and covered by many artists including Mercedes Sosa, Céline Dion, Michael Bolton, Lara Fabian, Julio Iglesias, Andrea Bocelli or Luciano Pavarotti.

Hello Ahlam, great reaction. Very much agree with all your comments. I have read and agree with comments that when Céline sings you feel she is addressing a large audience and when Lara sings it feels like she sings just for you with all the emotion she can convey and this even when she is in front of thousands people. I very much like Céline but Lara is something else, another level.

Caruso, is an italian song, written, composed and performed in 1986 by Lucio Dalla as a tribute to Enrico Caruso, the most famous tenor of his time (late 19th / early 20th century). He was the first global singing superstar. The story is about the last days of Enrico Caruso, he knows he is dying, and he is remembering all his career on stage and telling his much younger wife how much he loves her. It has very quickly become a classic of italia music and the biggest names have covered it (Julio Iglesias, Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, …. and of course Luciano Pavarotti). But for many, Lara's version is the best ever, as she was able, with her unique ability to convey the emotions of a song, to reveal the real sad story written by Lucio Dalla. I was told that Lucio Dalla himself, after hearing this performance, said that she made it her song and this is the best version he has heard from it. For Lara, this song is really important as this is a kind of anthem for Italy, and she is so much connected to this country. She spent the first few years of her life there with her sicilian mother and grandma. Her husband is also sicilian.

Écoute you're not from here sûrement la note la plus longue et incroyable de lara fabian , écoute perdere amor en espagnol. Ensuite tu Pourra écoute album mademoiselle zhivago sorti en 2010 album exceptionnel. Sache que lara chante toujours en 2022 et fais toujours des concert et à sorti de nouvelle chanson comme en 2019 la chanson par amour .

Imma team Lara for sure. Maybe because im european and i listen to Lara since i was teenager (38now). Lara has so much more emotion and vocal colour (to me) than Celine, who is great technician, buy almost every contemporary singer does her covers better than she does now. To sing a song better than Lara you should be at least Dimash 5 years from where he is now. Not talking about technical things but simply emotional part of performance.

Bonjour de France ! je vous rejoins pour le choix, je préfère cent fois mieux la voix et les interprétations de Lara à celles de Céline, même si cette dernière est excellente, mais Lara a une interprétation beaucoup plus intense et sa voix est beaucoup plus chaude et envoutante que celle de Céline.
