We drove down to Cardiff for an adventure day with GMC (Keegan's coaching business) and did archery, climbing, high ropes and an obstacle course! It was so much fun! (The 8 hour drive was NOT! haha!)

The area where I live in Pennsylvania has the highest population of Welsh ethnicity outside of Wales. There are several churches that have Welsh Cake sales as a fundraiser. They make them with either raisins or currants so they're not so dry. Also, they're made by hand so that makes them much better.

Poor Keegan expecting something basic at The Alchemist 😂. All of Joel's drinks looked like something that I'd order. The Cauldron here in NYC is very similar. I hate attention and wanted something without a lot of fanfare. The bartender brings this smoke filled dome over to me and removes the glass with a flourish sending the smoke out in rippling waves. All eyes in the area were on me. 😂 It's camp and Stone Street in the evenings is an amazing way to hide from the hustle and bustle of Manhattan.

That looked like a fun time! Speaking of loving Autumn, do they have apple farms out there? Where I live apple picking is a whole event in the Fall. Fresh apple cider (not the booze one) apple cider donuts, all that. It's fun with the family. 8:02 oh man we gotta get you to watch some Bond, Joel! The answer to that question is "shaken", always! Bond's signature drink is "vodka martini, shaken, not stirred". The production house may be American, but the book series that the movies are based upon is British, and the interior shots are recorded in Britain, so I think Britain can claim 007. 🙂

Welsh cakes are best with an original recipe (not choc chip!), warm, with a dusting of sugar. The centre should be "dough-ey" in texture rather than dry. Some of the packaged cakes are vile! They taste best with a cup of tea after a long winter walk!

Those welsh cakes are awful, generic and all supermarkets do them. You need them warm and covered in butter. Best place is down at Mermaid Quay. Also Bara Brith, Cawl and rarebit are all traditional Welsh fodder.

My grand was from Llandudno and she used to make Welsh cakes. But being from the States we used to call them Welsh cookies. And they were very tasty. Then I found out what they were made of. Butter? No way, LARD. And that was the end of my love affair with Welsh Cakes. Sad, but true.

Welsh cakes should NOT be dry. They should be more moist than an Eccles cake. Real Welsh cakes are made with lard and butter, and contain currants. I use seedless currents here in Canada, but seedless raisins will do in a pinch. It is a shame your introduction to Welsh cakes was so sub-par.
