100% agree, the concept trailer was so interesting and the song just falls a bit flat, especially when your expectations are already set. It looked like there was a whole storyline in the trailer that just seemingly has nothing to do with the album. I also don't feel like the title track makes full use of Jungeun and Jiyoon's vocals either, which is a shame because they have so much potential. I'll be waiting for their next release and praying WakeOne does a better job with Izna than they did with Kep1er

If you look at the main producers, FAKE IT, DRIP and IWALY, the main composer is not actually TEDDY. It's 24 and VVN. I don't know what it is with TEDDY, but his music just never really hits. We were supposed to get a concept similar to IWALY with this whole poppy, sentimental vibe, but that's really not what IZNA is giving. For a gg with so much hype and such a big company (because WakeOne IS big), this felt so boring... The m/v was unexciting. The song was lacklustre. The only thing about this debut that had me really excited were the other songs that we finally have on Spotify and streaming services. This debut just felt like any other debut and it sucks.

As someone who watched the survival show and has been hype for this debut, I'm a little disappointed. Izna and Timebomb were actually the *only* new tracks, with IWALY, Fake It, and Drip all having come from the survival show. As such, I don't understand why WakeOne not only took as long as they did to debut the girls but also didn’t put in the effort to make a cohesive concept. i’ve watched iland 2 from day 1, pre ordered all the albums types , paid for the membership on plus chat and always kept up with izna’s new videos and content. i was so excited for the debut from the moment the lineup was announced because i saw the immense potential and of course the debut trailer made me even more excited than ever for the debut. however, the moment i heard the title track ‘izna’, i was SO disappointed. i love izna and the girls so much as i’ve said but the empty chorus, plain music video and outfits was horrible to see. i’m so upset about their wasted potential since they could’ve have a very impactful debut if they followed the concept of the trailer but they went the complete opposite direction of what we anticipated. honestly it seems like teddy threw this song together in a few weeks, like he could’ve at least thrown some thrilling beats into that empty chorus. plus the music video basically seems like a dance performance due to the lack of visuals and creativity for me - it was boring. thank goodness for the other 4 tracks, they completely carried the album (the album design is also horribly plain - i don’t regret getting it though). overall it just seems like teddy and izna’s creative team gave minimal effort and tried to play it safe, and saying i’m heavily disappointed is an understatement. obviously it’s not the end already, but i really hope they get to properly showcase their talents in the future

I try to sincerely listen to these new groups but I just don’t understand how you fumble a debut in such a way. You have this one chance to create an explosive first impression. Newjeans and TripleS teams understood this extremely well. Even in the cute / sexy era of the 2nd / 3d generation they understood that music was everything. What's interesting for me is that I kinda think that the entire album sounds sonically cohesive. It's just that the title song is lacking, and the sound doesn't fit the visuals. But I mean, for a debut album to be sonically similar (in kpop where that level of cohesion isn't really a thing ig) it's honestly quite impressive. That's a really big positive that I think could set them apart from the rest of 5th gen, although I do think that it's coming back in the trends (Drip-Babymonster having an overall 2010's edm sound which I adore!!!)

I went to Billlie's tour and have gotten really into Ring X Ring. Out of curiosity I checked out the r/kpop reaction to it when it released and one common reaction was that it was different from what the predebut trailer had set up. I guess nothing ever changes. Personally, I've kinda given up on cohesion in Kpop. When reading theme I only care about lyrics, sound, and how the music video reframes the song. Everything else might as well be random fireworks because it's probably made by a whole different team.

that’s so interesting bc the trailer for ring x ring is basically just cut scenes from the music video. it’s very much an actual teaser of what was to come and the greater lore behind billlie. I wouldn’t say this is comparable at all.

the debut trailers soundtrack had me thinking we were gonna get something that sounded like lady gaga's monster.. boy was i wrong 🥲 i've never been so excited for a gg and in tune with a survival show and it's community and the debut album being complete trash except for one song.

The instrumental in the izna tralier debut made me feel things it made me levitate and then they debuted with that outdated “cool girl” “bragging style” song that’s been done like a million times I truly a disappointment

The chorus is pretty much the biggest problem with the song itself. A chorus can make or break a song, and here... i wouldn't say it RUINS the song, but it's so underwhelming and just gives us nothing. I sadly do not see the vision (yet). I can see this song as an intro or smth but for this to be the title track just doesn't work. The existence of the song makes sense, but for them to put this song at center stage surrounded by ones that are much better at conveying the concept that they're trying to deliver just does not make sense. izna sounds like a soundcloud song from 2014 but polished. It feels like an afterthought, and it makes me wonder if the people behind this song care about the group at all. While the problem you've spoken of here is the lack of cohesion, I'm personally most upset by the song itself. Were these paragraphs a bit too much? Maybe. But that's okay, I just wanted to say what I said :>

I will agree izna (the song) isnt transformative at all and the chorus is flatter than a sheet of paper but MAN i the catchy hooks and syncopated beats combo is my weak spot and the fact that the girls perform it so well, i dont mind it

It’s unfortunate that Izna isn’t really a groundbreaking song or anything new, therefore they have no sense of identity… Timebomb being the only new song besides Izna isn’t helping them either… It’s just the chorus that’s lacking too which is quite literally the most important part of the song 😢

I like "IZNA" as a song, but the concept feels meaningless and random, like if I wouldn't know the mv, and someone showed me some of the shots of the mv seperately, I would think they're from different music videos. Teddy and Wakeone needs to do better, because the members are such a amazing lineup and should not be wasted. Or just get rid of Teddy and let VVN take full production

i think a lot of it has to do with the fact that two companies kind of manage izna. wakeone and the black label. the black label is known for the sound you heard in izna. look at meovv for example. more hip hop inspired. obviously i don’t mind that, i enjoyed it but i can see the other side of the argument. timebomb was a much better choice for a title track. izna could have been the intro to the album. i am however hopefully for the future as timebomb was very well received and if the black label can produce timebomb, they can produce songs that sound like that!

We loved the girls in their survival show era, but in this debut, they don’t even reflect any of that. I didn’t understand the concept, the girls don’t even look like they’re flowing with it. The songs, the personalities, the show, it seems to be all disconnected.

Whenever a group saying their own name too much in their song, I can't help but cringed. It's ok if they say it once in a while for an intro or smthg like STAYC or BlackPink, but when it's too much like this, it's giving me try hard remember my group name. Yikes.. Also the debut trailer thingy is soo true. This debut song, in the entire time I listening, I was waiting for THAT punch but there's none. The only part that close to that was Koko rap part and that's about it. I had to say, that debut song looks like the others are just NPCs added just for Koko to deliver her rap.
