There once was a gal in Nantucket, Who's neck wouldn't stay where she stuck it. Then she threw out her back, Thought Respighi was whack, And cruel fate had her off-day rain buckets. God, I love Pines of Rome. One of our orchestras did it three years ago. Love it when they play what *I* want them to play. ;-) Love the opening French horn bit; it's like, "let's get this show on the road!"

OMG THIS LIMERICK MADE MY DAY!! Pines of Rome I feel like is so under performed by major orchestras, but I’m so happy and grateful that I got to play it finally ☺️

The Nantucket trip looked great! Such a cool little town!

It’s just your typical “New England quaint beach town” vibe, but I love it so much. Especially nice, now that the weather has been agreeable!

Right when I heard Nantucket I thought of a Wayans Brothers episode where they said that and changed the entire meaning lol. Celine loves music and that's so dope. Sorry about the keyboard issue but it seems like it didn't affect you one bit. Great sounds like always.

It was such a beautiful and cool venue to play! And what’s even better was the free time we had post-concert to go exploring and walking, by far my favorite thing! (Well, second to music of course)

The Pines Of Rome: There's a real blast from the past! Pun intended. I got to play that too and it was so much fun. The low brass passages in the second and fourth movements are great. You really get to play out and the conductor can't complain because you're supposed to. I remember during one of the rehearsals, the basses weren't playing half notes together. The conductor yelled at them, maybe too loudly, but it woke them up at least. I'm so glad you got to play that piece. Bass clarinet in A? Really? That's weird. I guess the composer felt like confusing people. I remember seeing a bass trombone part in alto clef once and had to count ledger lines down the staff to read it. Bizarre stuff. Do you have more orchestral gigs like that lined up?
@CelineFerocious5 ай бұрын
I’m so glad I finally got to play it! Pines of Rome > Fountains of Rome haha. Bass clarinet in A occasionally pops up so it must have existed at one point 🤷♀️ The next orchestra gig I have is all film music, but typically I don’t play in orchestras, as I greatly prefer chamber music over orchestral playing. Playing Respighi and the classics are always fun, but it feels like many orchestras are still in the Stone Age when programming women and marginalized composers, and when they do it seems performative. There’s so much good music being written today that needs to be heard and embraced. And chamber music is where that’s at.
