I'm sure I have sounded this crazy myself calling an exterminator because of spiders. I myself am seriously arachnophobic, and it takes all my will power not to run screaming or torching an area when confronted by a large spider. I had to have a neighbor help me get a big orb weaver out of my car once when one had gotten into it and built a web in the driver's side. It still took me several days before I could make myself use the car again, I had just used my exes car if I could at the time, or called a cab, or walked if the distance wasn't that far.

About half my family is Australian so I’ve been going to visit them during my winter breaks from school about every other year, the last time I was there I had the pleasure of seeing a decently sized huntsman spider. It had somehow made its way into my aunts room and it didn’t really do anything aside from just sitting in one place on the wall with its front legs in this weird outstretched position. We literally left it there for hours and it barely ever moved. When we decided to try and get rid of it by catching it in a jar and letting it outside, it moved pretty fast and the whole ordeal was kind of an obscure blur of panic from that point onward.
@Rainpelt1004 жыл бұрын

Lmfao this story is great! As an Australian I see shit tons of huntsmans all the time, and they are honestly one of the most docile of spiders in Australia. They are pretty much never aggressive and only feel threatened when cornered (like every other spider or creature). As real as arachnophobia is, I do find the reactions of Americans especially rather funny when they talk about how scary the spiders in Australia are, specifically the huntsman, because there are so many more nightmarish spiders that can actually kill you. Overall though, this was excellent as usual😄

Spiders are capable of learning in many different contexts, including prey capture, social interactions and predator avoidance...After all a spider's past experiences can determine the structure of its web, which, in turn alters what the spider senses in its environment, directly influencing its future decisions and behaviors...As a result, part of a spider's memory and decision-making is outsourced beyond its body...and studies show that spiders remember faces and do in fact sense that some of us humans are scared of them.
