This is the most standout scene for me in the Spider-Man franchise. Honestly, I think it should go right up on par with "Great Power, Great Responsibility".
@GabrielAlonzo-s1q15 күн бұрын
Years later, it holds up as one of the greatest scenes in the entire trilogy and it holds right up par with Uncle Ben's words but her speech was more inspiring and heroic and it felt realistic because it resonates with it when someone who's willing to give some advice to a younger relative needed to hold on a second longer. In other terms, holding a grip to get their life together.

@MatthewNeathery27 күн бұрын
I’d say into the spiderverse was the closest but this has heart that captures Spider-Man in the simplest form. It’s not too busy to show a struggle and what a hero should be. When Spider-Man shines brightest is when it can slow down and reflect his personal life along side his superhero responsibilities. Other movies have tried but this one did and set the standard. Aunt May being the voice reason and wisdom is so good.

The spider verse movies come close but I feel like spiderman 2 has so many great scenes and so many laughs and it's all in service of a very thoughtful and tasteful Spider-Man story with depth and pretty amazing performances. It feels rewarding to look deeper into these films

The wonderful thing looking back on this scene 20 years later is that this movie, and this scene especially, is probably an inspiration to a lot of superhero writers and moviemakers, the same way she describes heroes being an inspiration. It's hard to imagine capturing the tone of the underdog hero better than this. Not as high stakes as all that when it is just superfiction, but it will always hold a very special place in my heart for the rest of my moviegoing life :)
