4:17 "Great, it's just some random guy." To me, this line actually speaks volumes. Peter Parker is meant to just be an average guy; someone you'd pass on the street without a second glance. It speaks to the whole idea that Spiderman could be anybody, and that any "random guy" can be a hero. Also many of the younger audiences hadn't seen the Raimi movies, so to them, Tobey Maguire may as well been a random guy. But to OG fans, he's one of the greatest hero of all.

@ericsteel1733 ай бұрын
The original trailer for Spiderman featured the Twin Towers when Spiderman caught a helicopter of bad guys in a spider web between the two towers. But the trailer was pulled because of 9/11. It would have been a bittersweet comment if Tobey said the Twin Towers, implying that 9/11 did not actually happen in that universe.

@ericsteel173 They should have tacked the bridge scene to the trailer. We're New Yorkers, you attack one of us, you attack all of us.
@trainknut3 ай бұрын
@@ericsteel173 I believe in some shots of the city in the first movie you can see the twin towers, and then later in the second and third movies they're mysteriously absent. The implication(to me) has always been that Tobey's Peter was active during 9/11 and most likely just doesn't like to talk about it, seeing as he was probably just recovering bodies and moving rubble with the NYPD/FDNY for most of the day. I mean seriously think about what Spiderman would have to do to stop 9/11... he can't fly, and there would be nothing his webs could to to stop two commercial airliners going full speed... Maybe he could use his webs to redirect and catch falling debris, but even then... you gotta imagine how much debris he missed. Amazing as he is, he's still just _one_ man. He struggles to keep up with regular falling debris, let alone two entire buildings collapsing right in the heart of the city. I think the reason he doesn't talk about it, or the towers themselves, is because it was the one thing he couldn't stop or change, no matter how powerful he was. Then again, this is all headcanon, you could be right, maybe the towers are still there in his universe and the camera just forgets to ever show them.

I genuinely love that they kept trying to reinvent Spiderman to make money but found a way to bring them into a multiverse for the enjoyment of fans who are older and who would have seen Toby years ago. Marvel had an ability to bring up emotions but this new phase with the shows is missing it. What a fantastic scene
@VA_Nightshade10 ай бұрын
I think what mainly cause this is large reasons. Covid fears, and uncertain goals. Marvel started churning out content when Covid hit, as it was revealed the heads got scared for the future of cinima. So, they spun out content to keep money flowing. It led to hit or miss films. Spider Man did fantastic, but that was largely done before Covid restrictions hit their highs. But you also got Balck Widow, Love and Thunder and Multiverse of Madness. Films i liked, but were largely panned. Then you got the show runs that were more hit or miss. She-Hulk was liked largely by comic fans, but fell off way more with fans of the films. What-If did well, and got green lit for a second season. Loki still standes as their ibggest show hit. Falcon and the Winter Soldier had solid ideas, good characters, and good pacing, only faltering in its last episode falling apart the more you disect Falcon's speech. As to not having a plan? Simple. They put themselves in a hard corner with Endgame. Where do you go after it? Its a good question. Your main cast of characters are retired. Tony and Widow are dead. Thor has gone soul searching. Hulk is crippled. Halkeye is retired and regrettful. And cap is old and dying. You need new heroes to lead the picture. Which means, new films to build them up, but also films to retire other big players, like the original Guardians. But that film got delayed because they fired James Gun (which a whole different disucssion), and the actors refused to do a Guardians film without him. All in all, I think they wanted Phase 4 to be a intro to new players like Riri and Shang Chi, but also wanted to focus on their big players like Thor and the Guardians. Sadly, because of this, and the content output, it made the overall pump ruin most people's fun and enjoyment. Not enough to kill Marvel or hero films, but enough to have people question Marvel's skill and vision. With Deadpool 3 coming out, and Kevin Feigi making it clear he wasn't happy with Phase 4, I think Phase 5 has a big shot of being up to standard again. Possibly with some recap moment in combing films like avengers and such, and you can see the next set of films being fun ad successful.
@Kanriel5 ай бұрын
The new phase has to start all over. You're not going to hold onto actors for DECADES so they have to keep some continuity but catch up new characters and bring them to "replace" the 'retiring' ones, which people by and large aren't a big fan of happening, but I imagine as an actor losing much of your scheduling freedom would be a bit frustrating, so while some may love the characters they play, being so tied down as MCU contracts go isn't necessarily ideal. But then the fans are expecting interactions and emotions like they had in Civil War and beyond, when we're in the Iron Man 2, Thor 2 section all over again, which did not have those interactions and emotions at all. People just have absurd expectations because of how good the finale of the trilogy was, they need to let things build back to that level.

I just love Andrew Garfield as Spidey. To me he portraits just the right amount of sas when talking to the bad guys.

This scene always brings tears of joy to me. My inner childhood erupted when both Spidermen (especially Tobey) came out. This scene was so well executed!

Andrew kinda ends up like a middle child in this scenario, but seeing them all together was great 👍

What I hate about fans talking about Tobey is that they say he looks goofy in his trilogy while Andrew and Tom are better looking guys. I hate hearing that crap because why do looks of hero matter. Are all heroes supposed to look good looking? There can be the ugliest person in the world who could get super powers but what makes them heroes are their life stories and their ideals that motivates them to be heroes. A hero’s look’s don’t matter; it’s what they do that defines them.

I think he carries the "cool youth pastor" look very well. Sure, he's older than the other two, but he is also more composed and cool. =^[.]^=

who the hell says Toby looks Goofy (. ( other day the way he looks and acts in a Spider-Man 3 but still not necessarily a bad thing either. He looked goofy because he was a goofy guy trying to look cool a complete dork who knows nothing about being cool trying to be cool. Matches perfectly. Peter Parker is a geek in the comics. And he matches very accurately with how comic book Peter Parker would act and look in real life Plus it's not like he's ugly I mean hell we all remember what he looked like back in 2001 when he got the part in the first place

Seeing Tobey walk through got me choked up in theaters. He was the first Spider-Man I saw so it was a pull on the heart string. Funny how nostalgia works

When I saw this at the movies it was the coolest moment I ever experienced with any movie. When Tobey came into frame the entire theater went crazy. I would do anything to relive that moment again. By far one of the best movies of our time 100%. Thanks Tom Andrew and Tobey.
