Flow Morpheus Slow! Morpheus is the Greek name for the God of dreams... but otherwise thanks for lyrics... it is 'nights dreaming' (i thought it was my dreaming) and i think you're right that it is sun and light, not sunlight! Ty
@tb86515 жыл бұрын
@@tylercooper9233 No, it's Morphia. The song is an obvious reference to Morphine/Opiates. Break it down; "The darkness" - Opium/heroin often came in a brown powered or black tar form. The Darkness could also refer to a mood or mind frame. "must go down the river" - Turned to a liquid for IV use. The flow into the blood stream or river. River's also facilitate a voyage or change. Also,prior to IV use it was primarily used in a liquid to take orally. "of nights dreaming" - Opiates often referred to as being dream like, causing dream like states or producing intense dreams. "Flow Morphia" - Again, IV use and the transition of one place to another. The flow into a dream.... Morphine - Morphia - Morpheus. Also consumption in relation to flow. "Morphia slow" - The lyric produces a sound by holding the S to sound like "MorpheussSslow". Morpheus the Greek God of dreams, the name sake of Morphine. The slow fade, slide or float into a dream or morphine high. "let the sun and light streaming into my life." - Anyone who has taken opiates can relate to the slow warm feeling that creeps over ones chest. The relation of sun and light causing elation in ones self with that of the high of opium/morphine. Link to the Script: www.rockymusic.org/showdoc/rhs-1970s-script.php Here is Richard O'Brien singing it. He clearly sings, "Flow Morphiaa Sssslow" kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6KoYYGjZ6l6ac0 Rocky Horror is a reflection of the era it is made in. Sex, Drugs, Rock-n-Roll was the slogan of the 70's after all. This story is about Finding one's self, being different, acceptance, indulgence, over indulgence, etc... In all that what is often forgotten is the references to drugs throughout the story. In this instance, Opium/Heroin/Morphine, which were prevalent in the late 60's and 70's largely due to our involvement in the Vietnam War. Remember, right before this song Brad and Janet are in the car and over the radio President Richard Nixon can be heard giving his resignation speech from 1974. While I'm sure that was not used or meant as a direct correlation to Vietnam and heroin crisis to follow, it shows a sign of the times. One incidentally that the writer, Richard O'Brien, was opposed to. As he later said playing that recording dated the movie while he wanted the movie to be timeless.
