My hubby sold his Harley (Rose) because it became too painful to ride. I miss her sometimes, especially when we would find a backroad and open her up. I laughed when I saw the Total pin. Hubby did a job for them in China years ago. So he went all the way from Texas to Mongolia to work with a French company. I love your history lessons. Fascinating that the garage is part of a very old prison.

Love the history of your garage, etc. Close to 100 years ago, my father rode a Harley. He related many stories of his motorcycle adventures. I don’t know if he enhanced this one but he said he could ride from Sandusky Ohio to Chicago Illinois, a little over 350 miles, to visit my mother for well under a dollar's worth of gas. He loved his Harley.

Thanks for the history, fascinating 😊 Ernee is a lovely town. There's a saying in English - 'worth his weight in salt' (meaning they are a great person) This is a true story My dad was a biker all his life. One day, he was doing DIY and ran out of screws. It was a hot day, so he jumped on his Triumph 650 and drove to the DIY store in trainers, shorts and t shirt. On the way back, he was blue lighted and pulled over by the police. He was 58 at the time, but a fit bloke. The police approached him, and his expression changed when dad pulled off his helmet - the police officer was obviously expecting a lot younger person (😄) "Sir, you do not have the correct clothing on for riding a bike. What would happen if you had an accident wearing shorts?" Dad "You are absolutely correct, I will make sure and wear proper jeans next time," The officer starts to walk away..... Dad calls him, the officer turns around Dad points at his feet and says, "your bootlaces are undone (which they were 🤣) The officer was half of dad's age, went very red, and did up his shoelaces 😉 Bless you, dad, RIP ❤

Intereting! We had a similar salt tax in Sweden as well long until mediveal time, the monetary value of raw salt did still play an important role long in the early 1900 here, in Scandinaiva the salt mainly came from Norway and possibly Denmark, i don´t know about British export, but it may well had been in the southwest coast here via the tradingrout to Gothenburg, my guess, but if so it was probably mainly for the fishing industri there i think.

Stan do you ever get the feeling of being haunted by the prisoners? I found this really interesting
@8GarageFRКүн бұрын
There's some weird feeling sometimes, and some strange things happen, like some tools disappear and appear later at a different place. Sometimes I lose something, I look for it and then I say "Enough playing, give me this back", and then I find the thing in a place where I didn't leave it for sure. Some evenings we can hear some sounds that we cannot find the source - they seem to come from a corner but when you go there, they seem to come from a different corner. But I respected the French tradition: when I arrived, I told loud that I'm here for good things and came with peace. I believe that there're always something in such old places with long and maybe painful history.
