It never even occurred to me after playing the game twice myself and watching maybe a dozen playthroughs, that - *spoilers for anyone not yet having watched the video* -the reason that Booker is blown away by Columbia when he first sees it, even though as we find out throughout the game that it was widely publicised about, is that he came from a universe where it didn’t exist. Did you notice that when Elizabeth was in the boat her choker pendant changed to the opposite one you picked for her showing it was anouther Elizabeth ; also the idea that all the coin flip hads of tails at the begining was how many times the lutec's had tried this before with other bookers (it being heads was a constant)(songbird always stops you) and when you don't have Elizabeth there to revive you you end up waking up in your office implying its anouther Booker who got that far and didn't die and was taking over. There is also a theory judge as you will that Songbird was a previous Booker who was captured and transformed thats why it was so protective of Elizabeth.

@1:52:00 Although that's clever, I think the point about our Booker being from a reality without Columbia is wrong. The statue when he was walking towards the raffle changes from Robert Lutece to Rosalind. That's believed to be the game telling you that Booker's reality had a Robert in it. But Robert also created the city's levitation, because the statue is holding that, so there's another Columbia where he came from. It really is just as simple as Booker wasn't paying attention.

There's a lot of people that don't like this ending. I love it. It ties together a bunch of different lines quite well (it's by no means perfect, but pretty great). It even left things open for more in the future (I played this before the Burial at Sea release).
@DovahFett3 жыл бұрын
I think the reason some people don't like it is that they don't pick up on the details and hints that are planted throughout the game, so they think everything at the end is just some kind of exposition dump that comes out of left field with no precedence. If you pay attention to those details and pick up on the plot's themes the ending is very fitting, and even predictable, like you saw here. On subsequent playthroughs you can really see the myriad of ways in which the ending is dangled in front of you. One of the first voxophones you pick up is Comstock discussing the whole "sinner reborn in another world" concept, but in slightly different terms than what you hear at the end. The game is almost written like an Edgar Wright film with how it hints at plot points right from the start.
@justme.33507 ай бұрын

Kudos to you for figuring it out so early! Another nice detail in the game that goes along with the whole series' themes and ideas, all the "choices" you make within the game (choosing the bird or the cage, throwing the ball at fink or at the couple in the beginning, ... etc) are only there to give the illusion of choice. In reality, they dont matter or change anything because everything is set and will always happen the same way. Just like how it was for Jack, Booker had no real choice. Cannot wait for your burial at sea gameplay!
@Z3RO192 жыл бұрын
Not gonna lie, my mind is blown by the fact that you figured out the entire twist. Watching your journey through the BioShock trilogy has been a great experience. You're possibly the only person I've seen who's been so invested in the story and put all the pieces together. That's amazing. Want to know something that makes Elizabeth's relationship with Lady Comstock even more tragic? Her "real" name is/was Annabelle Watson, and she's a multiveral constant. In every universe with a Booker DeWitt, she'll marry him and eventually die giving birth to their daughter (who Booker will name after her). In every universe with a Zachary Comstock, she'll marry him and eventually be murdered by him. Lady Comstock truly is/was Elizabeth's biological mother, only she didn't know it.

After the revelation I had like an hour of being mind blown as I looked back at the story like you did and tried to piece it all together. 10/10 game.

(as I was thinking of typing this I got a bit worried, so just to make it clear, I'm not being condescending or anything like that, it's meant as a genuine compliment) I'm really impressed with your ability with figuring things out, pretty much all, or at least most of the guesses you made from what information was given to you where correct or very close. You're really observant. By comparison I only started to figure things out at the very end and some things I only picked up on after watching your LP.

Hi Cyn, for whatever reason, yours has been the most satisfying play-though of Infinite I've watched. You are so smart and are the first I've seen to do two things. First, to deduce that Booker and Comstock were the same person so soon before the final reveal and, second, I don't know of anyone who was so fast on the trigger that they weren't stabbed in the hand by the man on the phone. It was interesting to see Booker's hand unbandaged throughout the play-though because that didn't happen. Excellent job, you deserve more subs.

I've been waiting for this part as soon as the first episode of Bioshock 1. I had a hunch you might figure it out, and I wasn't disappointed. Such a great twist, amazing playthrough.

Ahhh, this game will always bring back good memories and it's common to see players being caught off guard. This was one of the rare games that left me intrigued and thoughtful... so you decided to take a look back at what happened while putting the pieces of the puzzle together. Now... it's time to dive into the dlcs... and the fact that you've played through the trilogy gives you the opportunity to get a privileged and comprehensive look at the story.

That moment when you figure it out... that was amazing! Congratulations! This is officially my favorite playthrough of Bioshock Infinite!

This game remains one of my top-5 favorite games ever and back when it came out I watched several playthroughs because I wanted to re-live the joy through other people--only to find out that a lot of people just really irrationally hated the game, a lot of the time in no small part to it being so different from the first two Bioshock games. Cut to this week where, as a man in my late 40's with a sentimental bent, I decided to seek out another playthrough because I finish the game for myself every few years and wanted to try to find someone else who had done the same. Fortunately I stumbled across yours and (I think) I've found someone who enjoyed the game at least as much as I did. I still get choked up at the ending despite knowing what's coming. It kills me that another installment of Bioshock might never happen (I've kept up on the news of 4 and it's just not promising) not least because the Luteces were supposed to be involved and I was itching for another story from the people who brought Infinite to life. I'm taking this wonderful playthrough of yours as consolation. Shared joy is increased. Thank you for these videos.

One point I'd like to make is, every time you die without Elizabeth reviving you (when you see yourself going through the door again), it's a different Booker which comes in and inherits the memories of the previous Booker you played as. If that's not trippy enough I don't know what is. EDIT: And another point (lol), the Elizabeth you knew didn't go through that last lighthouse. Booker mentioned that it wasn't the Elizabeth he knew who was in that final baptism scene, none of them are. If you notice, she wasn't wearing that cage necklace you chose earlier.

I actually think it’s cooler than them “inheriting” the previous Booker’s memories. I might be wrong but I think this is the case. But it’s actually yet another Booker who went through the entire adventure from the start (after being dropped off by the Luteces’ at the lighthouse), and made all the exact same choices and actions. So when you emerge through that door and back into the game, it’s just that the ‘new’ Booker has reached that same point and you can carry on? I think that’s it anyway

Never noticed that 🤯
@RafaelBenedicto3 жыл бұрын
@@TheHulksMistress That might be possible. But given that the first time you die (without Elizabeth), Booker will comment something like "Woah, that was weird", which means he did remember dying but somehow he was alive again -- because he inherited the previous Booker's memories.
@TheHulksMistress3 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah the nosebleeds etc? And the people remembering ‘that they’re dead’ in an alternative universe. I guess it could be explained with tears maybe. Maybe tears do somehow manage to mix the living person’s mind with the dead person’s, hence the nose bleeds and general weirdness. So yeah I could see it fitting story-wise that they could inherit memories that way
@TheVideoGamer323 жыл бұрын
Does that have to do with Robert's theory about memory? That part still doesn't really click with me.

I have to admit I've seen many playthroughs of this game but this is the first I've seen where bucking bronco was used as a primary vigor and the sniper rifle used as a primary weapon, you used both quite effectively so well done. Also, brownie points for figuring out the Lutece's as well as Booker and Comstock were the same person, you might be surprised at the number of people who didn't pick up on that fact.

One thing I've noticed in this game that I really enjoy is the subversion of the two leads. At first Booker is the street-smart tough action hero that has to guide and protect a naive and confused Elizabeth, but by the end those roles are basically flipped. Elizabeth is the one with all the power and the knowledge, and it's Booker that needs guidance and enlightenment on the world and what's happening around and to him. Elizabeth's kidnapping by Songbird is the point where she gains a greater grasp on the situation than Booker, and from that point her understanding (and power) grows, while Booker becomes more and more dependent on her for protection and explanations.

Every time I play or see this ending I am always amazed at how good it is. For me your playthrough is the best one out there (and I have seen lots of them), I have never seen anyone paying so much attention to the story and pretty much on everything. Can't wait for you to play the DLCs, they are the cherry on top. If you like games like this (heavy story driven, complicated etc) consider playing Nier Automata another gem of gaming.

Cynthetic, you have that je ne sais quoi! Can't explain why, but these streams (I would watch one right before work) consistently made my day. It's cool to see an equally elated response to the Bioshock trilogy. Keep doing what you do!
