Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets was one of the players left off of the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team. Chris Broussard and Nick Wright speculate on the reasons why Kyrie could have been left off the list, and decide whether it's egregious that he was left out.

He was dead wrong about Reggie Miller. WAY too much emphasis on All-NBA teams and completely ignoring that he was the best player on a moderately talented Pacers team that consistently were near the top of the Easter Conference for several years, made it to the Finals, and darn near beat Jordan's Bulls. The writers in the 90s simply didn't know what they were watching. That's why he didn't have more accolades.

He always makes shots like those so it’s overlooked. And yes that’s one of the most iconic moments because he basically changed history and lebrons legacy wouldn’t be what it is today he wouldn’t be compared to jordan anymore. And kyrie was only 24 and was debated to be top 2 point guards in the nba and it went back and forth between him and curry for the past 2-3 years. And after that finals the way he was playing and accomplished so young he was projected to be the best pg of all time. That is the reason he was on the cover of 2k. Its funny cause he was above curry but curry is now already projected to go down as the best pg of all time. It’s funny how everyone opinions changed and the hate he got just because he left lebron. No one is even touching curry now but kyrie was in his best years. Kyrie is had a better year than kd and curry in their best years last year yet he wasn’t the mvp. He recieved hate before he even stepped foot on the court for the Celtics and he still got even more hate even tho he played good. People taking his personality into the reason he’s “not good”. Yes the Celtics still made the playoffs every year and people knocking him for getting angry and not winning a chip but somehow forget that jayson Tatum was a rookie and Jaylen brown only played one year and they still had the best records in the past 6 years wen kyrie was playing for them for those 2 years. Celtics are still in the same situation even tho jayson and jaylen got better with the team getting better too. Kyrie is underrated and people like u need to stop treating him like he’s some average player. If alllen iverson is on this list kyrie should be too. Iverson said himself kyrie better than him. This list is based most on popularity not skill

Andre Iguodala played against Kyrie Irving in the Finals so he has credibility. Andre Iguodala was negatively impacted and lost a ring due to Irving's shot. He has no reason to lie for a rival. What are your credentials and what is your credibility? ZERO. Kyrie cant lead a team? Kyrie Irving has been limited due to injuries and has been injured in 3/4 past seasons, what sample size are you saying to discredit his ability?

Kyrie has never ever been said to be even in the top 5 of his time. So how is this a top 75 player ever when you aren't even the top 5 of your own time. Some players would plug and play from the past easily. Wilt would ruin the NBA now. His skills worked then they'd even be better now with zero centers in the league. As Jerry West said, "if Wilt played today. He'd make a today's NBA centers look pretty foolish." West kind of knows basketball I'd say. Your judge were they great in their time.

Bro that's exactly what I said because technically if you wanna be real this honestly isn't even the REAL top 75 because they didn't even take anyone off just left the same old players on there just added 25 more if it was really about the REAL top 75 then they would take the players off that doesn't belong on there no more because there might be a couple better players now that belong on the list before them I'm just saying how can you have a list like this when they don't even consider taking some of the older players off that probably/most likely wasn't as good as some of the players that didn't and should have made it

You just don't get it. Were you great in your time. The guys from the past were great in their time. Cousy was magical with the basketball for his time. Maybe not for this time but that's not the list. Were you great long enough in your time. Kyrie hasn't been barely good in his time. You can't even say he's be great for even 1 whole year. So yes he shouldn't be on a top 75 player list. It's about who was great for their time. Kyrie has not ever.

I don't know Nick Wright much as a sport's analyst, but I came up with the same egregious snubs that he has: Sidney Moncrief was a tier one player for 6 seasons on both ends of the court, which a lot of guys on the list can't touch. Even more-so Tracy McGrady, Bernard King, Dwight Howard, and I'll throw in another one- Chris Webber. These were are MVP candidates at some point, and a bunch of guys on the list have never come close to that. There are, of course others. If you want to consider Tony Parker, what about Dennis Johnson, the best player Bird said he ever played with, and that was when he was past his prime. What about Big Bob Lanier, or Alonzo Mourning? What about Grant Hill or David Thompson? Most of these guys were hurt by lack of longevity, or in a few cases by having long careers made up of two phases: Pre and post injury. Who has mostly been left off are players who were tier 1 (top 5 or top 10 in the league) for 5 or 6 years for players who were top 25-30 for a longer period, which isn't very satisfying to me.

I push against the bottom that Bob Cousy would've been just as big of a star now as he was back then, just because he would've proportionally gotten as good compared to his contemporaries, due to different training. It isn't just about training, it's got to do with the pool.of existing players. It was astronomically smaller back then. Barely anyone played basketball at that time. The game is so international now that the amount of people trying to get in is ridiculous.
