I don't live in North America, I don't have a septic tank, I have no intrest in starting to pump out, install nor maintain septic tanks, but yet here I am. Mesmerizing.

You should consider using tarps for the dirt. Not only does it leave the grass nice and clean, you can drag the dirt over with the tarp and then grab the tarp and dump the dirt into the hole. Saves a lot of work and it leaves a much nicer job. I would just get the small tarps from harbor freight. Cheap in the last quite a long time.

I have lived with septic systems and have had them installed on new houses. Maintenance is cheap compared to replacing a failed system. Pumping is very cheap compared to sewer rates here in southwest PA, where I have rates from $20 to &79 per month flat rate.

Just had my tank pumped for the third time in 11 years of living at my home. The company that did it the first 2 times neglected to tell me that the one and only riser was on the outlet side of the 2 chamber tank and they were only pumping out water. I hired a new company this year since the previous company doesn’t service my area no longer. Good thing I found this pumper Guy because he informed me that there is another chamber which has the solids. He dug up the other lid opening and the cement lid never has been off and he couldn’t get the lid off without breaking it. When the two guys struggled with it for 30 minutes to get it open the solids were packed almost to the top of the pipe. They had to add water and stir up with the tool you had for 30 minutes to clean it out and probably was never done for 25 years. I was lucky I never had a backup.

My dog is interested in their dogs 😂 Pumping a 1000 gallon tank here in NW Wisconsin costs $390 with a riser. A county mandated inspection every 5 years costs $180 if you don’t need the tank pumped at that time.

You do a great job, Dominic !!!! Love every one of your videos, learning from them all. How about telling me about roots, fine hair roots. How do I stop them from getting in my tank ??? What can I do to treat the tank water to kill the roots ??? Would love to see you do a video or a segment on roots !!!! I just had to open the outlet riser due to toilets not flushing and the filter had hair roots in it blocking the water from exiting. Cleaned the filter and all is working now. PS How about showing the young lady who does the filming and helps you. All we ever see is her shoes. My wife would like to see her get shown and comment on what she does - women's lib, you know. Thanks for all you do and keeping us informed with your tips and tricks. And if we ever cross paths, you and your lady associate have a free lunch or dinner on me !!!

I live in Bradenton, FL I have been on septic for my whole life for us to get the tank pump every 4 yrs it costs me $200 each time. If it was dubbed I would have to find a new way for the septic. We are pretty good at using it are shower water goes to a holding tank for watering the lawn and the dishwasher is ran out to the garden to water the ground each time I've had it pumped out there was no crust and they said it was about a inch of sludge in the bottom.

New to the septic world. I am not sure if I have two or one opening for my tank. I know where the inlet is, but how do I know if I have another opening? I had to have it pumped out three times in 9 months. I also have no idea where the drain field is. Love the videos. Very informative. Thanks.

if you use a riser, do you still keep the cement lid inside? I live in Nevada so it may be different for us but it seems like one lid should be enough. Thanks

Call me weird, but I normally have my tank pumped out every 2 or 3 years, am I wasting money? When it is pumped out the people normally leave a little in the bottom, thoughts? Now I don't know if I have one or two tank top covers, I have only observed them removing one cover, how do you find out? The home was built in the mid 70's.

Next time they pump out your poop tank take a look inside the tank to see if there is a outlet pipe or just probe around with a metal rod there is a very good chance your septic system has the 2 tanks if your home was built in the mid 70s

I've noticed in a few of your videos the concrete plugs are degrading due to gas. Was there a change in concrete used? In Florida we have old coffin style tanks with sectional lids that seem to last decades.
@donhutton2641
@donhutton2641 22 күн бұрын
Regarding concrete degrading. You said if the tank is not properly vented. We just had our tanks drained, and the guy said to drill 4 half inch holes in the plastic cover to help vent. What are your thoughts on this?

Quick question why is it in Texas you suck out the septic tank dry???The people I use to pump my septic tank in Berkshire county leave a little in so it eats away at the solids in my tank??? I know about 3 companies that pump and they all do this, does it matter either way???
@cb8606
@cb8606 5 ай бұрын
The theory is that if you leave a little behind, that acts as starter bacteria so that it will immediately start decomposing. Some people swear that need to throw some horse manure or a few pounds of ground beef into the tank so that it acts as starter bacteria.

How should a septic tank be vented to prevent tank rot/lid corrosion?
@bmaiceman
@bmaiceman Жыл бұрын
Generally speaking, you dont really vent the tank itself per say. The sewage pipe at the house is vented for all sewage gas. I think that's all you do. Aside from installing risers to get rid of the concrete lid.

With all due respect, there's a somewhat falsehood when comparing monthly maintenance fee's or taxes in town as compared to maintenance of a septic system. You must take in account the price of your septic system over a 25 or 30 year period it will last. You are much closer to $1000, plus whatever pumping fees on a regular base. That does not sum up to $7 a month. You are closer to .'
