Tbh Trixie has helped a lot with boundaries IMO. Trixie is very vocal and straightforward with how she feels, and if fans start pushing boundaries she calls it out immediately. I think this directness is something that helps their dynamic a lot

Agreed. I think they help each other a lot. Trixie has helped Katya feel more comfortable with standing up for herself and Katya has helped Trixie with feeling more comfortable in being vulnerable. They’ve helped each other in so many other ways. I think they emphasize each other’s strengths and help balance each other’s weaknesses. It’s why they’re so brilliant together.

I think a lot of her fans also try to emulate her but they are not as nuance and way too young, so it just comes across as unhinged. She needs to keep sticking up for her boundaries, again, kids that are too young to do edgy, humor, right trying to copy her style.

Not everyone has the same worldview and sentiments as everyone. And some peeps just do something in the spur of the moment with no thought. Not to mention not everyone has the same boundaries. So yeah, she should have established what she was ok with and not ok with from the get go to avoid confusion. Expecting everyone to know what you're ok with is like expecting everyone in the world to not be a serial killer. I love her so much but I'm glad you pointed out how a portion of the Trixya fanbase is BONKERS, and those fans don't even realize how much stress they are adding to her life. I remember how she told a story of learning to stand up for herself and her friends when a fan demanded to join her and Trixie when they were seated outside a restaurant and she had to shoot that person down, and hard. Thank you for bringing this up I kinda wanted to say something along those lines. She most definitely still talks about political and social issues. While the bald and the beautiful is a good example you can see it in unhhhh as well. She just does it through the lens of comedy just not how other people do. Instead of making jokes about the topic, which can quickly become insensitive. She makes jokes and makes fun of the people and things that create and perpetuate those issues. The only downside is it’s most definitely something you have to look for. In my brain she’s the perfect example of making jokes about serious things, without sacrificing a meaningful message for the sake of being funny.

So I understand how hard it has been for her and how tough s7 must have been without her support network. The stuff Katya would say, especially early on, was always so out there and passionate, I just think it was a character people could project themselves onto easily but for some fans they easily took it too far as well. She does have such a social conscience, so it sucks she doesn't speak about those topics as much, but at the same time, both her and Trixie putting walls up to protect themselves from the fans that take things too far almost gives them more legitimacy. They're superstars because they're only so accessible. And as much as everyone enjoys Alaska and Willam, they're so tied to Drag Race in order to maintain their relevancy. Willam is repeating and exaggerating the same Season 4 tea every week to try and keep the fans interested.

I would love to see a vid similar to this made about trixie as well! She is the true definition of rags to riches, and I think her story is really interesting. I really liked that you touched on Katya's fans and the maturity level that came with them. Drag Race has introduced a lot of the 'Queer' community to the mainstream and with it the lack of education on the culture and history runs rampant. Katya constantly showing up for minority queens is such a normal thing for us queers who did not grow up in a time in which it was safe to be open, and we had to FIGHT for everything. It's not to say that kids today have it easier but they don't know their history so when their 'idols' are showcasing it they don't tend to understand or empathize.

I can not even imagine what Katya could actually gain from doing any other season of any sort for any reason of any sort. She's already as successful as she wants to be. For any future DR queens who are reading this right now : Follow the Katya and Trixie guidebook. Don’t engage in online drama. Don’t complain publicly. Get the stick out of your ass and instead heavily feature self deprecation and tomfoolery. Yes you can still be pretty but let your real irreverent self come through your drag. Pretty gets boring. I suggest this only because all the subsequent queens do the total opposite these days and there STILL hasn’t been a Katya or Trixie to come out of any subsequent seasons. Bianca, Trixie and Katya laid out the literal blue print to lasting major success. Like RuPaul says, “there’s no need to reinvent the wheel, the wheel works just fine.” It’s the ultimate cheat code. In other words : Be 50% fierce and talented and 50% stupid and self deprecating. It’s a recipe for success.
