You can also use the Betacraft launcher to play older versions and it also has old versions that the actual launcher don't have and they are the original versions with no tampering (old versions in the mc launcher change stuff like sounds and skins don't work too)

I thought i couldn't find an old world to explore because the old busted ahh pc that we had and i played on hasn't even started at all for who knows how long(has been nonexistent for a while). I got minecraft 10 years ago(i was 5 years old so i was allowed to play in peaceful mode only cos the game is rated ages 7+) and years went by(i still absolutely suck) and eventually the old pc didn't hold up anymore, i mean it was over 7 years old when i was under 7 years old so it was bound to break eventually, the old xbox 360 we had, broken, the ps3 we had a couple years after, broken. But i got new ones later one, a ps3 from my big brother cos he got a ps4 and a used xbox 360 i bought, and i realized something, i still have the same ps3 minecraft disc i used to have, so it is possible to still have them.

Just a thought, but since you can get on the server, have you tried placing glowstone into the eye yourself? By normal minecraft logic and mechanics, i dont think anything should happen, but if there's possibly a mod on the server or hidden command block, then maybe. Idk, im not very computer literate lol
