Fun fact When my grandma still lived on her farm, they removed the doorbell because the ghost on the property would keep frantically ringing it. And it was driving them up the walls. After that the ghost went back to the frantic hammering on the door that was easier to ignore.

@@soupysoupx They were very sure it was a ghost because it was common to see it appear in the bathroom. Aand the entire top half of the man was just gone. It wasnt uncommon for guests to avoid going to the bathroom as much as possible or to just not visit again. Itd also stop hammering suddenly if you opened the door and there'd be nothing there. The farmhouse was also close to a spot of a battle during the Anglo Boere War. So its not surprising that the farmhouse was haunted. Though the farmhouse was demolished after my ouma moved. So I guess the ghost is gone now as it was clearly tied to the house. I hope he is at peace.

(TRIGGER WARNING FOR DISCUSSION OF RELIGIOUS ABUSE) In my opinion this series seems to be focused on/heavily inspired by abuse within religious environments. The pressure to visit the church is a very common weapon to rope people into joining churches, for example. And although anyone can be a victim to this sort of abuse, it’s very common for women and children to be especially mistreated due to the beliefs promoted in traditional doctrines. The scripture overlaying the child screaming could even represent a member prioritizing their beliefs over another person’s wellbeing and choosing to proceed with brutal punishment or rituals.

Based on my viewing I actually left a comment on Reddit about my theory on what was happening in my opinion it’s more interesting but nonetheless I claimed that the series is following a serial killer who is actually the one who had broken into the house and murdered the family and is playing it off as if he has a family of his own and was saying all of that in case he gets incriminated. The interruptions throughout the tape i theorized are actually coming from the victims whom this man had murdered. While I like my interpretation it’s a very loose theory. Honestly it’s more like a suspicion.

Also there’s this really cool horror series I would LOVE for you to check out, it doesn’t have a name but the channel is Ash-Veil Lane, and they made an absolutely fantastic horrifying series based on the game Deltarune, though you only need the baseline knowledge of the lore in order to grasp some of the plot points, and most of it is completely unrelated to the story of Deltarune. It is phenomenal, and I would love love love to hear your thoughts on it :D

I only recently stumbled onto this series myself, and am working on compiling some theories of my own, but I've kind of gone on a deep dive into references to Babylon in the bible. One that reflected a lot of what we've seen in the series so far (women/children being burnt, possible cannibalism, the devil turning on the women) is Revelations 17:1-18. Specifically verse 16. Curious to see where this series as a whole goes, its got promise!
