I want to add in for more lore/background on the story of Maria Labo since I'm from the area where it originated. The story originally started in Visayas more specifically in Norther Panay (Capiz, Aklan and Northern parts of Antique) or in Buglas (For safety reasons I'm using the old and original name of the island) during the 1990s or early 2000s specifically 2002 or 03 depending who you ask. During those time there was a rumor going around in Northern Panay of a crazy woman who ate her entire family with a scar or gash on her faced roaming the country side with a knife or bolo. Weirdly enough her last name Labo means scar or gash in the local dialect (Depending on who you ask it could be Kinaray-a or Bisaya). It was also during this time that a lot of people (Especially kids) in the country side would disappear only to be found mutilated on the side of the road or on the road and a lot of these were cold cases. And so the local communities who were affected by this used Maria Labo as the cause. What really made Maria Labo well known was due to a local AM radio dj who was following these disappearance cases heard about the rumors of Maria Labo and turned that rumor into a radio drama. I'm glade that Filipino Analogue Horror is foreign getting attention since the Philippines has a lot of folk lore and legends that can easily be turned into horror, add that with local rumors and legends you get a recipe of good investigation story.

Gods i grew up knowing about maria labo cuz its from my area. Her name labo is the local word for “stab” and we were warned not to receive any raw chicken liver from anyone. Specially strange ladies. She was known to eat kids so we usually had to rush home after dark. The “lore”behind that is you’re passing on the “heart”/curse of the aswang and she happened to have it at the time. Its not a corn field either. Its a sugar cane field. But thats as far as i can recall its been close to two decades since that time. Those were defs a diff time
