The cat wanted Ruby because she was the most traumatized one of the group there, Yang Blake Weiss and Jaune were at peace with their internal problems, Ruby was still fighting her internal demons.

Jaune was certainly not at peace. He was just as traumatized as Ruby, but his trauma made him double down in an almost unhealthy manner about protecting others. The Cat simply would not be able to break him because of that.

Like the cat said, deep down, Ruby still desperately wanted to go back to Remnant and do the right thing. Her trauma stemmed not from a desire to give up on that goal, but the guilt and shame of feeling like she wasn't strong enough to do it.

The rabbit badge might simply be a nod to the White Rabbit from Alice In Wonderland. I did have a theory that it might hint at. After watching this episode and learning Alyx's fate and given the nature of the tree, I got to thinking about what might of happened to her. It is possible she reincarnated as Juniper, the giant jackalope Jaune has been using as a mount. I double checked and Juniper is absent from all the flashbacks involving Alyx, with the earliest mention being them helping to save Jaune after he had been poisoned. I don't know how long he was laying there, but it is common for poisons in fairy tales to basically just put you into a coma until someone comes to save you, such as in Snow White. He wouldn't have any idea how much time has passed. I had come up with this theory last week, then found out about the rabbit pin after Kyle pointed it out in episode 8.

Lewis write the story. It's possible that Lewis' and Alyx's last name is Carroll because Lewis Carroll was the writer of wonderland. Her ideal huntress is her mother, her hero. You'll learn the origin of the cat, the Jabberwocky and literally everything else in the next episode.

Kyle, Kirby, have ether of you seen Futurama? It is set in the year 3000 and one of the main characters is Philip J. Fry. In one episode they travel back in time to Roswell, New Mexico in the year 1947 and ends up sleeping with his grandmother, resulting in him becoming his own grandpa, which gets brought up now and then in later episodes.

Also for the record my money is still on Jaune and Weiss getting together, she has done nothing but improve and mature as has he, but after they lost Pyrrha and then she was there with him when he had to take Penny’s life, and when they thought they lost Ruby. Jaune is broken and Weiss knows he has a pure heart. I think she will be with him because he’s the exact opposite of her father and someone she’s grown to trust inherently even if she can’t always rely on him (like when he spent 20+ years alone and trapped in a fairytale waiting on them to show up…). It’s meant to be id say.

There's a distinction between "we did all we could" and "we've done all we can." The former implies that all options were exhausted and there are no options left, whereas the latter only implies that there are no options left. She wasn't saying that there was nothing more they could've done before all of Episode 7/8 happened, just that as of that moment, it was out of their hands. They found their way to the tree but now the rest was up to Ruby.

My tattoo is like my family coat of arms. No matter where I go in life I’ll forever be my parents son, my brothers brother, and my grandparents grandson. I got it when my grandmother’s health was rapidly declining, so now it reminds me of a time that she was alive.

We arent going to devolve into timelines of incest morality this far in. There is a sort of a structure as zany as it is that doesnt go more circular than the Hapsberg family tree. Just think. Otherwise we would just be repeating the same eight volumes up to this point in a cycle. Which while interesting does not fit with the narrative of the CSLucaris's vision of Ruby personification arc. As much as Coke smoker Summer the giga alcoholic would be hilarious i dont think that would fit such a dark but hopeful narrative. Besides if Ruby can be rewound into anything else then we really need two arm full capacity Yang back.
