First thing is, THANK YOU for taking us along with you. All the work of videoing, editing and narrating is SO appreciated. I realize HOW MUCH extra work it is to produce the segments, on top of the flying responsibilities. Good job Becki soldiering through the many continuous days of stress and flight apprehension, emotional and physical challenge. You guys are a STELLAR example of being a couple working together through the challenges and coming out the other end positive. As an R-22 pilot, I continue to be amazed at Chris' deep level of intelligence, safety consciousness, and obvious superior training that comes through in his decisions and relating his thought processes around helicopter flying; he is just an excellent example of what you should be as a pilot taking the responsibility for commanding a ship like he does. Just a warning, you guys are young and full of energy, so I am glad you are engaging in these adventures, but as you get older, no one warns you that your energy will dissipate, you will get fat, and lose your vision, (no one told me), and you will want to do things like this, but will just not have the energy to complete it. You are creating such great memories doing trips like this. Chris was talking about getting too much of a good thing like flying the helicopter so much. I have been flying hang glider aircraft for a LONG time; It is much like Chris talking about flying helicopters. To an outsider, it seems extremely awe inspiring and exciting, and it is. I have literally jumped off cliffs, flown tens of miles long distances with no engine at cloudbase, but after thousands of hours, one time I was at like 12,000', hanging in my harness out in the cold open air, in turbulent lift, with literally nothing between my face and the ground, and I was thinking, this isn't fun, or even challenging or scary; I could be in my shop building something having more fun and being more challenged. I had come to realize that even this, which to the outside seems to be limitless, had become mundane, in my experience. It did not mean that I did not want to do it anymore, but I realized that it was not all there was, even with 40 years of experience. I really enjoy your channel, not just for the flying, but even like this one, where you sit around and talk about your impressions and reflect on processing what you have done and why you have done it. You are both incredibly intelligent and so satisfying of communicators; you could probably just talk about washing your car and I would enjoy it, hearing you relate it, and seeing your take on a thing, because of the insightful nature of how you communicate.

Thanks so much for the kind words and sharing your experience with hang gliding! It’s interesting how our interests and passions shift as we age, I’ve been feeling this way about certain hobbies and activities I once loved that now I don’t enjoy as much. Life is interesting!

The testament to your story telling genius is that it never feels as if you’re constructing a story. As a content creator (mostly educational stuff on TT), I know how challenging it is to balance everything that’s going on behind the scenes, to make the final product look as if the considerations and struggles behind the scenes do not exist. Bravo to both of you for making documentary movies that far surpass “simple” KZbin videos. Seriously, bravo!

Hands down, this was the most engaging story I have watched on KZbin. At the end of each episode I was left anticipating what the next episode would bring. The story telling and filming was superb. I can only imagine the challenges you faces as actors, videographers, flight crew, and production crew to make it all happen. In my opinion what you have produced rivals anything available on traditional TV or cable. Thank you.

I love that expression Type 2 Fun, it describes so much about aviation. When you're on the third long day of cross-country flying and trying to figure out how to thread your way through, say, the crazy Phoenix airspace or how to fly over the Grand Canyon, it seems impossible. But then that glow lasts much longer than the normal idea of fun and makes it all totally worth it and you can't wait to get out there and do it again. Love your films, really inspirational!

The series was awesome and your insight after the break is very cool. I got to watch the series just before catching a commercial plane from Phoenix to Port, ME. All to turn around and fly back in my Van’s RV-12. Flew from Maine to California and back to AZ. 5 flying days and 5 weather days. Your series was an excellent primer for my first true cross country! If you're serious about a trip to "The Big Land" - fuel could be a serious issue for you. Very early in the planning figure out your route, get hold of the airports you want to stop at, and confirm not only that they have AvGas but will sell you some. Then don't depart for that airport on the day of without re-confirming. AvGas is less and less available on the Labrador coast. Torngat Mountains are amazing...

Suuuuper fascinating! As one of the multitude who have said "I'd watch Becki and Chris do their thing on the Discovery Channel!" one of the things that occurred to me as I was watching this BTS ep is how many tasks get "offloaded" to a crew and production team when you're making a TV show... Of course I know it's NOT as simple as "just get a crew next time!" (lolol- if only it were that easy!) but it just reminded me that you both weren't ONLY doing one job... But... Like... SIX jobs in order to get this series done. While trying to also have fun? Yeah... Type Two Fun, for sure. Y'all are amazing and whatever you do next, I'm here for it! 💙

@@BeckiandChris I definitely resonate with the "not always fun in the moment, but when I look back it's amazing!" sentiment. I'd imagine that having a crew would be awesome in that it would take a lot of jobs off your hands... Buuuut... My wife and I spent 3 months travelling in a van for our honeymoon. No one seemed to understand that there was ups and downs. We had a lot of days where we just felt down and burnt out but everyone was like 'but you're on holidays'. They couldn't even see that driving for 3-7 hours a day/every couple of days, eating, sleeping, seeing things, hiking, making videos and taking photos, finding places to shower was all very tiring. Still glad we did it, the memories will last a lifetime, but oh man it was exhausting

First off, thoroughly enjoyed riding along virtually on your adventure cross-country and thank you for the effort clearly put into the production. As a family, we also plan and take yearly road trips to new and remote places in and around South Africa as well as neighbouring countries Namibia and Botswana. The stresses and anxiety you felt completely resonate. Doesn’t matter who you are, how meticulous you plan, you gotta expect the unexpected and roll with the punches. Nothing ever seems to work out as planned. We took the most amazing 13 day 4500km road trip in 2019 through Southern Namibia with our kids which at the time had the potential to end in divorce on our return, is 4 years later the best 2 weeks we’ve ever spent together and is still spoken about regularly. You will never have any regrets about doing the trip, despite all the uncomfortable moments. Looking forward to when you’re both back up in the air with the R44.

Hi Guys. Really enjoyed both the series and this BTS video. We love watching this type of adventure/travel/expedition/wildlife video and are usually impressed with the fortitude and dedication of the heroes and heroines pitting themselves against adversity, succeeding in the end, emerging victorious. But, as professional wildlife and travel photographers we invariably think about who shot the movie, remembering that they did exactly what the heroes (in many cases) did and additionally (!), they shot the movie at the same time. Now that requires stamina, fortitude and resilience (not to mention skill, and talent). And you guys did both! So, well done to both of you. And, Beckie, we're thrilled that the "I'm never getting into another bloody helicopter" feeling has worn off and we are looking forward to the next epic series.

My first solo I felt an attack come on and I was like you know what i worked hard for this and I pushed through. But I still don't like solo flights

Compressing fun into a short amount of time can be "too much of a good thing". People fall into that trap all the time. Knowing that you have to pack yourself into your itinerary decrease the chances you'll find yourself in a "too much" moment. That said, for the purposes of entertainment, I love watching Becki push past her limits. She is kind of a proxy for the people who would never consider helicopters as a fun way to travel over long distances. Hopefully she'll continue to build up her tolerance, tamp down the post trip "never again" periods and build a collection of peak experiences like the one on the dunes. 👍

Chris, I believe, that if Becki Learned to Fly your helicopter she would have a deferent outlook of this entire trip! A passenger is NEVER as comfortable with the flying as the PILOT! Being at YOUR merci as PIC, with no means of control, can be VERY overwhelming.

What’s a regular mile vs a nautical mile

Fat Teeg is such a tiring sponge. No matter how much one tries, there's no way around it. It's like Lazy Winds; that go right through you. Becki you are right; we are stronger than we think. But that strength when challenged unrelentingly seems to sit beyond our out~of~reach threshold. But it is there. Thanks guys for this really interesting and oft~not~done BTS

Props to you both I know making the video is lots of work and thought, so I appreciate just being along for the ride and experiencing something I will never get to do.

An amazing series & enjoyable to watch, so thank you both. It’s disappointing that it came at such a price on your mental health, which tainted the real-world experience for you 😔 I hope Becki isn’t compromising her wellbeing for the sake of content & our entertainment 🤞🏼

Thanks! I would never compromise my wellbeing for content, just the reality of a challenging trip with a fast pace. Next time we will be taking more breaks to help off set the heavy travel days (and planning better meals as well 😅)

I enjoy your video's ( especially since I have been a pilot for over 50+ years) but, with all due respect, I could not listen to the video and will go back and try to use captions because when either of your speak, every other word is "LIKE" and that drives me up a wall. I hope that you take this as a constructive comment because, otherwise, the production quality of your video's is some of the best that I have seen.

I can relate with so many of your feelings. Travel is amazing, but not always as fun as people think, so thank you for sharing. And … Labrador!!!! Yes B’y!! The world needs to see the Torngats through your skillful lens❤
