That snake is not that fast, but it can seem to be fast if you are close to it, one thing is for sure is that it will strike in a matter of a second and you will not be able to even blink before you are bit, if you are in its reach, and they can reach pretty far away so I would not recommend you even getting close to a rattlesnake, it will not come after you, it would rather just try to stay away from you, in general. So like you did, giving it time will solve the situation just fine, I dont like snakes but its quite easy to not make them upset, someone I used to know actually got bit out in nowhere land in Arizona, he sadly passed away from that snakebite because he didn't get the help in time. Its a sad story actually.

eeks. At least I could see it. I had a whole other experience where i could only hear the rattle. That was worse. lol
