The reason Darkness is named that way is because the creator named her after a classic status effect in JRPGs. Nowadays this status is commonly named Blindness in games, but back in the day the status used to be called Darkness in JRPGs. That's why the creator named her that, because she can't hit shit to save her life.

Not necessarily the case. High level spells do need a chant. But if you repeatedly cast them enough times, you can do the spell without the chant. Kazuma, for instance, still would need to do the chant if he learned explosion magic. Also, despite her using a different chant each time, the words actually do matter. There’s supposedly some kind of system to how the chant must be formed. So if someone else were to learn the spell, they’d either need to pick up on the pattern or they’d need to stick to a single chant.

@@connorgrynol9021 What are you talking about? I've read the novel and the chants don't matter. You don't even need to say anything, it's just "Casting" and saying "explosion" after you do. The speed of casting is related to the "Speed Casting" skill. If you've read the novel, every skill Megumin learned is related to upgrade "explosion" and passives like "Speed Casting". This was how he was able to beat Wolbach as she surpassed her in using Explosion magic.

That is what I mean, she just need to say Explosion to cast.

Megumin is a parody of Lina Inverse from Slayers, a light novel/anime from the 1990s who was a sorceress of the same body type and whose signature spell was Dragon Slave, a spell that needed a ridiculously long and flowery chant before releasing an overpowered explosion. Lina always had the same chant, Megumin makes up her own.

This is what I told before. Kazuma's party is truly broken. They have a goddess that can clean all curses and can resurrect people, a high wizard that can only do a single attack but it can be so fucking powerful that can kill a demon king commander in one hit and a strong tank crusader who is also a noble and has money and influence. Kazuma is really lucky you will see.

The contents of this letter are not directly related to the main story of the program, so feel free to read it. In this part, the characters often hide their feelings behind the scenes and convey to people far away from them how they are living happily. In the main story, even though they are involved in terrible trouble, they each keep their own agendas hidden and tell the people outside that it is nothing. This part was not aired in its entirety, and was intentionally cut off in the middle, giving a sloppy treatment to the part where the person was desperately appealing in a letter. This is a kind of play part. I think the producers are aiming for the viewers to stop and watch, as well as to get the viewers to say "hey, hey!".
