I am a woman but the way i see it, the "what ya doing" one is more about just starting a conversation. If the woman just simply answers the question, the guy will see that as being not very interested, so the guy ends up saying: cool. So Adrienne is right in the sense that there should be added more after the answer you give him. If the response is still lame, then he is just a player. "If you want to" is a typical line for most men not to take responsibility. It's not like he can't say it, but listen carefully as to when and how often he says it.

Sometimes we use “wyd” cause it’s the only way to keep a conversation & it lets me know if your into me or not because if you just keep telling me nothing all the time I’m like..OK I know your doing something! Have you ever thought that maybe they say “nothing” because they want you to follow up with a plan?
